I have for sale a 1995 Mercedes C280 (automatic transmission) in excellent condition with lots of new parts. I bought it from a customer at the shop I work at. He was the second owner. I've owned it for about 6 months. He said it was always kept in the garage, and you can tell. Outside of an ouchie on the right rear bumper, this car is in excellent shape both mechanically and cosmetically. The car currently has 230k miles and is my daily driver. I had planned on keeping it and driving it another couple hundred thousand miles, but circumstances have changed and I need the cash.
The Good:
Lots of new parts!
Very clean interior
Drives and handles like a dream
Lots of life left
Mercedes build quality and reliability
Cold A/C and hot heat
Sunroof
New parts: (I have nearly all receipts)
Machined cylinder head and replaced head gaskets
Expansion tank (Coolant reservoir)
Serpentine belt
New bulbs in instrument cluster
Bearing Bracket
Fan and Fan Clutch
Transmission service and pan gasket and filter
Radiator Hose
Spark Plugs
Plug Wires
Ignition Coils
Radiator
Fuel Lines
Oil Level Sensor
Alternator
Water Pump
Belt Tensioner
Wiper Motor
Engine Wiring Harness
Ignition Lock Cylinder
Yokohama Avid tires w/ Alignment
The Bad:
Check engine light is on (P1700) for a transmission upshift delay switchover valve. Basically, on cold days, this keeps the car in first longer to warm up the catalytic converter for emission purposes and does not affect daily driving.
The right rear speaker on the car does not work.
Center vents and electric door locks do not work. They are vacuum controlled (like most Mercedes accessories) and I presume it just needs a new vacuum pump (located in trunk.)
The Ugly:
A bit of road rash on the right rear bumper as seen in photo. This was like this when I bought it.
This is one solid car and obviously has plenty of life left. Would make a great first car for a kid (very safe) or a family sedan. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere! Like I said, I regret selling this and had planned on driving it into the ground but alas, it must go.

Mercedes rolls out the long red carpet for new Maybach S600 Pullman [w/video]
Tue, Mar 3 2015Remember when the S-Class was the S-Class and that was it? The pinnacle of the Mercedes-Benz lineup, at least as far as sedans were concerned. But those days are long behind us. Now there's a coupe as well (bringing the former CL back into the fold), a convertible on its way, the uber-luxe Maybach limo and this: the new Pullman. The creme de la creme of the Silver Star range, His Excellency Field Marshall Dr. Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Dada – as it's known in full, at least with the twelve-cylinder engine – is... well, it's enormous. It's bigger than the old Maybach 62 it essentially replaces and bigger even than an extended-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom. And why would you need a vehicle so large? Well, you wouldn't. And neither would we. But there are some, shall we call them "unelected heads of state" who would accept no less. They're the customers who favored the original, and 50 years later, they're the ones who'll be snapping up the new one. (The little wavy flags on the front fenders are optional.)

Is Audi getting complacent and suffering from brain drain?
Wed, 27 Nov 2013The argument is made in a Reuters article: Audi is falling behind other luxury brands, such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW, due to a lack of research-and-development spending and "brain drain," or the migration of top executives and R&D chiefs to other parts of the Volkswagen Group. Reuters notes that Audi's current R&D chief is the third in 16 months.
Audi, which contributed to 40 percent of VW Group's $11.6 billion in profit the first nine months of the year, is delivering cars at a record pace: 1.31 million were delivered from January to October 2013 versus BMW's 1.35 million. Yet Audi, Reuters reports, doesn't have a halo car akin to BMW's new electrified i3 and i8 or an answer to Mercedes' plug-in-hybrid S-Class, and the R&D spending at Audi is less than BMW and Mercedes by a fair margin. It's noted in the article, however, that Audi benefits from other R&D spending within VW Group.
Reuters mentions that BMW "trumpets its new 'i' series" and the new Mercedes CLA and GLA ranges are winning "rave reviews" as part of its argument that Audi's recent lack of technological innovation could hurt future sales. Those cars do pack tons of new technology, some of which are firsts for mainstream production cars. But last time we checked, the i3 could be causing BMW's stock to slide, the CLA isn't receiving the rave reviews that Reuters would have you believe and the GLA hasn't been reviewed yet.
