Description

This is a rare opportunity. What you are about to read will be just as thrilling as the car itself. We are presenting to you at this auction a stunning 1995 Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG.  The inline 6 cylinder 4 valve engine is based on the C280, however, it has a 1.1 mm increase in bore diameter and a huge 18.9 mm increase in stroke length. The compression is also slightly stepped up to 10.5:1, while the electronics have been recalibrated and more aggressive camshafts have been fitted by the factory and has a free flowing exhaust. The result is 276 horsepower at 5750 rpm and 284 ft pound of torque at 4000 rpm. The engine has 82 more horsepower that the C280 and 36 more that the BMW M3.

The five-speed automatic transmission can be shifted manually through the gates is quite effective. The C36 uses 12.3 inch vented disc brakes up front and 10.9 inches in the rear. The brake engineering used on the heavier SL600 was used on the C36, adding great braking performance. The C36 can accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 5.9 seconds and can cover the quarter mile in 14.7 seconds.

The engine runs execeptionally strong. The transmission shifts crisply, no lag, no slippage or harshness. The air conditioning blows ice cold. The vehicle has 4 new Bridgestone tires, as per Mercedes-Benz fitmant guide. The paint is factory original and is glossy and no signs of fading. Everything works and the vehicle has been serviced regularly since new. We have all maintenance records. The vehicle was originally purchased and serviced at Fletcher Jones Motor Cars in Newport Beach, in Southern California.

Ownership

The C36 belonged to an elderly gentleman in his 80's, who owned it since new and took care of it faithfully for more than 18 years. The mileage is correct, and was driven on a regular basis. Since he was not driving much these days, he decided it was time to get it in the hands of someone who would drive it more often and appreciate it. So that is the car we have today. No bodywork has been done on the car at all. The 54,600 miles, gives this Mercedes-Benz special value. It still feels new, smells new, the seats don't even look like they have been sat on. Turn the key and the engine starts right up. If you ever wanted a Mercedes, don't let this classic slip through your fingers.

Mercedes-Benz History

Mercedes-Benz found itself with not much competition in the sports sedan arenas, so they joined up with AMG who helped Mercedes produce new sport sedans in the early 1990's. The C36  was their first collaboration sold to the public. The car was more powerful than the BMW M3, which was very exciting. The C36 had a limited run in production. Mercedes-Benz and AMG produced 1018 C36's from 1995 to 1998, making it even more desireable to own.

Mercedes-Benz releases stunning first images of 2014 S-Class

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, designated W222, is one of the most highly anticipated debuts of its model year. Every generation of the flagship sedan has broken new ground in technology and innovation for the entire industry, and the German automaker appears determined to raise the bar much further with its latest arrival as it promises to deliver "the best automobile in the world." Mercedes-Benz has just released nearly two dozen interior images of the new sedan, showing off style in design, craftsmanship in execution and pioneering advancements in technology.
Unlike all previous generations - the first S-Class officially arrived in 1972 - the 2014 model completely discards a traditional instrument cluster and replaces it with two high-resolution color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches (the outgoing model's gauges were a mix of digital and analog). The left unit displays traditional analog gauges (digitally, of course) while the right unit is reserved for infotainment and comfort settings with the automaker's all-new mBrace2 - a cloud-based entertainment and information delivery system that is rolling out this year.

Mercedes making aggressive plans for Chinese market

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

Mercedes-Benz is preparing a major product offensive to counteract lagging sales in the Chinese market, aiming 20 new or updated models at the People's Republic in the next two years, according to a report by Reuters. The plan is part of MB's so-called 2020 Initiative, which will see the Stuttgart-based manufacturer dump 2 billion Euros ($2.67 billion) into its Chinese market vehicles in a bid to boost sales to 300,000 units by 2015.
Were it to succeed, China would become the largest market for the Silver Arrow, outpacing Germany and the United States. Leading the charge will be the redesigned E-Class, which is set to launch in China this week. That will quickly be followed by the S-Class, and eventually by the GLA-Class in 2014.
Mercedes has struggled in China, especially relative to its German competition, BMW and Audi. Where Mercedes saw a mere four-percent increase in 2012 sales to 206,150 units, Audi was up a staggering 32 percent, while BMW's numbers jumped 41 percent. While some voices, according to Reuters, accuse Munich and Ingolstadt of boosting their numbers through hefty incentives, the fact remains that Mercedes was just walloped by its competitors last year.

F1 title fight gets closer | 2016 US Grand Prix recap

Mon, Oct 24 2016

We ran into an old friend at the US Grand Prix: an on-form Lewis Hamilton. Reliability and proper clutch actuation helped the Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver resurrect the kind of performance we haven't seen since July at the German Grand Prix. After demolishing the previous qualifying record around the Circuit of the Americas, he put the field in his mirrors as soon as the lights went out, was never bothered by anyone behind, and crossed the finish line 4.5 seconds ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg. The drive was exactly what Hamilton needed to keep his molecule-thin Championship hopes alive. Rosberg, however, did exactly what he needed to do as well by finishing second. The German had a sketchier path to the checkered flag than Hamilton, getting pushed back to the third at the start by Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo. Worse, Ricciardo appeared to have the pace to keep Hamilton honest ahead and hold Rosberg behind. Red Bull and Mercedes matched one another's pit stops, and it was clear the German would need more help to pass the Aussie. Rosberg didn't have to make his own luck, Ricciardo's teammate Max Verstappen made the luck for him. Ricciardo pitted on Lap 26, ceding second position on track to Rosberg. On Lap 30, Verstappen's gearbox failed while headed down the back straight. The Dutch teenager said the team told him to try to get the car back to the pits, so he dawdled through a few corners before following more team orders to pull over and park. Verstappen's parking spot and bad gearbox meant marshals couldn't push the car off the track, they needed to use a crane. That brought out a Virtual Safety Car, slowing the whole race down and allowing Rosberg to run a longer stint while losing less time on old tires. When the German came in for new tires on Lap 31 he emerged ahead of Ricciardo, and they ran that way to the end of the race, much to Ricciardo's disappointment. Sebastian Vettel claimed fourth for Ferrari, a placing perhaps due only to Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen retiring from the race. An otherwise anonymous weekend for the scuderia called attention to itself on race day when Raikkonen had to call it a day after a botched pit stop, and Vettel couldn't make any impression on the teams ahead. Fernando Alonso rode home to a brilliant fifth for McLaren. During the first stint while rummaging around outside the top ten, the Spaniard complained about his lack of pace. By Lap 15 Alonso was tenth, on Lap 34 he was eighth.
