Up for sale is an amazing 1971 Mercedes 250C-Coupe.  In pristine condition with only 86,150 original miles.  A little about the history of the car, I have the original sticker from Rollins Motor Company, Mercedes Benz Dealer in El Paso, Texas.  Delivery Date, January 24th, 1972.  I have the original sticker, pre-inspection, original owner's manuals, even the Becker Stereo owner's manual.  It spent the 1970's and 80's in El Paso and Amarillo, Texas.  The car was then sold to a gentleman in Boise, Idaho where it spent the past 12 years.  All very dry, rust free places.  I purchased the vehicle from a classic car dealer in Boise, Idaho  as I wanted one with original low miles and in good condition.  I have owned over a dozen vintage Mercedes from diesel's to gas and this is a real head turner.  I purchased the car less than six months ago and have put less than a hundred miles on it.  I live in the Northwest and it rains until June, I don't drive my vintage cars in the rain much and it is one of five cars that I currently own. Since owning, I rebuilt the carburetors and did some radiator work by a classic car mechanic.  I will include the receipts and I spent over $500.00 for this work done in the past few months.  This car really needs to be driven more frequently and it is one of the reasons it is up for sale.  I could definitely be a head turning daily driver.  The goal was to keep it and sell one of my other cars, but I recently am put in the position where I am moving to a house with a one car garage.  I no longer want to have to pay for storage apart from my residence, so I am keeping my restored BMW 2002 that I have over $25K into the garage, and keeping my Land Cruiser and daily driver outside.  This car is too nice to not be garaged.

Whoever gets this will get a beautiful car.  With that said, sometimes people are unrealistic when it comes to a 40 year old car, so please be so.  The reserve price is several thousand below what I paid not including the money i just put into it.  My loss is your gain.  A couple of things to note, as I took a lot of pictures.  Please look closely at the floor, carpets, back deck, wood dash, panels, chrome, exhaust, headliner.  They are all in immaculate, and I mean immaculate condition.  You will be hard pressed to find one with chrome and European bumpers this nice.  It is simply a gorgeous car.  What I love about it is the parchment interior.  The seats are amazing, just look at the back seat, front seats, back of the front seats and even the safety belts have the Mercedes emblem that shines through.  No cracks in the dash.  It even has intermittent wipers that work flawlessly.  If you will note, it does have AC.  It also has brand new tires, see from the pictures and correct stainless steel hubcaps in amazing shape.  Also, the exhaust is new as you can tell by the pictures.  The trunk is flawless as well, see pictures.  The gas tank, etc are in amazing shape, as I tried to take pictures of the undercarriage, as well as the engine compartment.

A few things I would do, it needs map pockets, if you look, you can usually get them on e-bay from $100.00 to $150.00.  Also the front speaker cover (on dash) could be replaced, about $40.00 item.  One chrome trim piece needs a new clip, about a $5.00 part.  As with all old cars, you will have routine maintenance, i.e,, replacing gaskets, hoses, etc.  But as I stated, I just had the carbs done, usually the most finicky on the 250C, so that is working nicely and the radiator just serviced.  I am not a mechanic, just an old car lover, so i have a few very reliable mechanics, whomever buys should do the same.

E-Mail with questions.  One last thing, I will be out of town the last few days of the auction, with limited access to e-mails, so try and ask questions prior.  No, I will not disclose my reserve, but will entertain offers and is for sale locally.  So if someone makes a reasonable offer, I will consider ending auction early.  I work a lot of hours, so if I lose a few bucks on the transaction, my time is worth it.  Thanks for looking.

A few more items, all windows work perfectly and seal tightly.  This is a pillar less coupe, so when all four are down, it feels more like a convertible if you have never driven a 250C or 280C.  The color is original Mercedes Benz Blue Metallic, Code #: 387; Interior is Code #:145, Parchment.  Lastly, I took over 83 photos and loaded them onto flicker, but e-bay won't let me attach the link. If you wish to see more pictures, e-mail me and I will attach the link via e-mail.  Thanks

Ultra-rare Maybach 57S Coupe ordered new by Moammar Gadhafi is for sale

Mon, Feb 1 2021

One of Maybach's rarest 21st-century cars is for sale in Holland, and it owes its existence to one of the most controversial African leaders in recent history. Dutch exotic car dealer Auto Leitner listed a Xenatec-built Maybach 57S Cruisero coupe ordered and customized by Colonel Moammar Gadhafi but built after his death. Short-lived German coachbuilder Xenatec chose to start with the short-wheelbase 57 rather than with the longer and more stately 62. It didn't alter the sedan's length or wheelbase; instead, it created the Cruisero by extending the front doors, removing the rear doors, and adding more rake to the roof pillars. Several other minor visual tweaks set the coupe apart from the sedan, and the interior was given a more superficial makeover. Xenatec made no mechanical modifications, so power comes from an AMG-built 6.0-liter V12 twin-turbocharged to 604 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. It spins the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. Although the coupe weighs 6,000 pounds, it takes five seconds to reach 60 miles per hour from a stop. The 57S Coupe was not a hefeweizen-fueled hack job haphazardly welded together in a shed. It was authorized by Daimler, and it was engineered to the same standards as the regular-production car. Executives were confident that they could sell 100 units to politicians, entrepreneurs, oligarchs, and other wealthy people around the world, but Xenatec filed for bankruptcy and closed after making only eight when one its main investors, a Saudi Arabia-based company named Auto Kingdom, abruptly stopped funneling money into the project. Gadhafi configured Auto Leitner's 57S Coupe, which was the fourth one built, and he should have taken delivery of it in 2012, but the Libyan Civil War that erupted in 2011 and ultimately led to his death on October 20 of that year derailed those plans. It was instead sold to another buyer whose identity is unknown. What's certain is that the person who ended up with Gadhafi's Maybach rarely drove it: its odometer shows about 1,429 miles. Highly optioned, this 57S is equipped with 20-inch wheels, soft-close doors, heated and massaging individual rear seats separated by a fridge, rear tray tables, front and rear air conditioning systems, a rear-seat entertainment system, and, for good measure a fire extinguisher.

New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."
Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.
"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."
