Mercedes Benz 500se (grey-market) Imported on 2040-cars
This is an extremely rare car. Imported from Germany in the late 80s. There are only a handful of these in the united states.
I work for an airline and can provide free plane tickets if you wish to come get the car from me in Nashville but don't have a means to transport it back. Grey Market - Mercedes Benz 1986 500SE I have all the paperwork for the car to show it is 100% legal Has never been in an accident Bought this car in December from a friend in New hampshire. Wanted to take on the project, but have to many already. So, it is time to sell it. Drove the car from New Hampshire to Nashville, TN with no issues. 200,XXX miles (will update soon with correct milage). I hate to have to sell it but I am moving in the next few weeks and this is the only way I'm going to be able to afford the move. Cons: Front seats need to be reupholstered A/C Does not work Blower motor isn't hooked up. Was disconnected when I bought the car. Never investigated why. Air still blows through defrost vents Odometer stopped working just a few weeks ago. Haven't driven the car since then. I believe it's off by about 100 miles. Needs new brake pads One small bit of surface rust under the gas cap. (shown in pictures) Windshield has a crack from driver side to passenger side and will need to be replaced. Headlight wipers don't work Dome lights don't work Pros: Runs great EURO BUMPERS EURO HEADLIGHTS (both of which, together, are close to the asking price alone) Shifts perfect with no hiccups Electric seats / seat heaters work great Tires have plenty of life left I Have a set of H&R lowering springs I will throw in for free. For some reason (I'm assuming because of the import eBay wouldn't let accept the vin as an actual vin). I have set the year as 1980, as you aren't required to have a vin on any 1980 or older vehicle, to avoid this issue so it would allow me to post. This car is a 1986. Reserve is set at $2,000. However I may decide to sell for less if the auction closes and it hasn't reached my asking price. |

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup shows its freshened face
Mon, 14 Jan 2013Mercedes-Benz showed us its redesigned 2014 E-Class more than a month ago, but the Detroit Auto Show finally gave us a chance to see the full family of mid-size luxury cars and wagons in the flesh. Dieter Zetsche introduced the cars, including sedan, coupe, convertible and station wagon, on stage showing the stylish new design direction.
The wagon and sedan versions (shown as the E400 Hybrid above) will go on sale this spring, while the coupe and cabriolet will hit showrooms over the summer. Check our new gallery of live shots for the entire 2014 E-Class lineup, as well as the previously released press release below.
Dealers mobilize to protect their margins from automaker subscription services
Fri, Aug 24 2018Six individual auto brands — Lincoln, Cadillac, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and Volvo — have established or are trialing a vehicle subscription service in the U.S. Three third-party companies — Flexdrive, Clutch and Carma — run brand-agnostic subscription services. And three automakers — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and General Motors — have also launched short-term rental services. Dealers, afraid of how these trends might affect their margins, are building political and lawmaking campaigns to protect their revenue streams. So far, three states are investigating automaker subscriptions, and Indiana has banned any such service until next year. It's certain that those three states are the first fronts in a long political and legal battle. Powerful dealer franchise laws mandate the existence of dealers and restrict how automakers are allowed to interact with customers to sell a vehicle. On top of that, Bob Reisner, CEO of Nassau Business Funding & Services, said, "Dealers and their associations are among the strongest political operators in many states. They as a group are difficult for state politicians to vote against." In California earlier this year, the state Assembly debated a bill with wide-ranging provisions to protect against what the California New Car Dealers Association called "inappropriate treatment of dealers by manufacturers." One of those provisions stipulated that subscription services need to go through dealers, but that item got stripped out when dealers and manufacturers agreed to discuss the matter further. In Indiana, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a moratorium on all subscription programs by dealers or manufacturers until May 1, 2019, to give legislators more time to investigate. Dealers in New Jersey have taken their campaign to the state capitol, asking that the cars in subscription programs get a different classification for registration purposes. Automakers run the current subscription services and own the vehicles. Sign-ups and financial transactions happen online or through apps, leaving dealers to do little more than act as fulfillment centers to various degrees, with little legal recourse as to compensation amounts when they're called on to deliver or service a car. That's a bad base to build on for business owners who've sunk millions of dollars into their operations.
