Up for bid is my personal and stunning 1993 Mercedes 500E, Porsche built. 133,500 miles and counting.  Unique factory Blue/Gray/Black paint that looks unbelievable in person.  Runs perfectly, drives great, very solid and reliable.  Car starts right up, transmission shifts perfectly, no hesitations in any forward or reverse gears. This was my daily driver up until last week and I since I have owned it, I have put over 100 miles on her each day on the expressway.  This is one solid and dependable car.

No dents and no dings, always hand washed. Absolutely zero rust, body and paint in absolutely beautiful condition. Everything works as expected, door air locks, windows, lights, sunroof, A/C, heat, mirrors, rear sun-shade, alarm, etc.  Car has been maintained to very high standards. Aggressive looking AMG Monoblock wheels in 18x8 and 18x9 staggered E55 AMG set-up with brand new tires.

Car has a perfect CarFax and shows it was primarily a southern car, spending most of it's time in Georgia and Florida.

I had a great time enjoying this car, but I just purchased a new daily driver, therefore this must go. Here is a list of the maintenance records that are associated with the car:

  • 35,630 miles:  Tires Rotated, Brakes Checked, Master Cylinder Replaced
  • 38,292 miles:  Oil and Filter Changed
  • 40,754 miles:  Oil and Filter Changed, Tires Balanced, Shifter Bushings Replaced
  • 42,182 miles:  Battery Replaced
  • 42,761 miles:  Tires Balanced and Rotated, Brake Light Bulb Replaced, Cabin Air Filter Replaced, Oil and Filter Changed
  • 43,124 miles:  A/C Evaporator Replaced, A/C Expansion Valve Replaced, A/C Receiver/Dryer Replaced, A/C & Heater Control Replaced, Heater Housing Replaced, A/C Refrigerant Recharged
  • 45,338 Miles:  Oil and Filter Changed
  • 46,920 Miles:  Spark Plugs Replaced
  • 48,024 Miles:  Engine Mounts Replaced, Oil and Filter Changed
  • 51,177 Miles:  Oil and Filter Changed, Brakes Replaced, Front Brake Rotors Replaced
The previous owner to me, maintained the car very religiously by his local Mercedes mechanic, mainly:

  • Upper wiring harness and associated engine sensors (coolant temp, fan, oil temp, etc)
  • Spark Plugs
  • Distributor Wires, Caps & Rotors
  • Air Filter & Fuel Filter
  • Transmission Fluid & Filter Change
  • Differential Fluid Change
  • Front and Rear Rotors & Pads
  • Eibach Springs
  • E55 AMG Wheels

In addition to all this, the car has had the following under my ownership within the last 5,000 miles:

  • 4 New Kuhmo Tires
  • 4 Wheel Alignment
  • New Tie Rod Ends and Steering Stablizer
  • New Radiator, Thermostat and all Coolant Hoses (Preventative Maintenance)
  • New Kenwood CD Stereo with IPOD Capabilities
  • Oil Change with Lubro-Moly Full Synthetic and MB Filter
  • New Front Koni Sport Adjustable Struts (will include new rear Koni Sport struts as well in case new owner wants to replace SLS system)
This car is a beautiful car and an excellent daily driver.  It is also a rare and appreciating car, and they are getting harder and harder to find in this condition.

Buy it, drive it, enjoy it maintain it...that's all you need to do with this car.

Good Luck!

The hottest modern sports cars rendered as rally racers

Thu, Jan 14 2016

The modern-day World Rally Championship a monumental amount of fun to watch – I should know, as I recently was lucky enough to head to the UK to watch WRC Wales Rally GB – but even the most monstrous of the current WRC cars are based on fairly pedestrian European hatchbacks. Back in the heyday of rally, the Group B era in the 1980s, much hotter cars were the basis of even more incredible competition machines, for the most part. Take the exotic Ford RS200, or the Lancia Delta S4 with its twin-charged engine. And the hatchback-based Group B cars were bonkers, too. So what would some of our favorite modern cars look like if Group B had never ended? A British site named CarWow hired an artist to reimagine everything from the Rolls-Royce Wraith to the Porsche 911 as a retro-inspired rally car, and they were kind enough to let us share the results in the gallery above. The gallery features an Alfa Romeo Giulia in Martini livery, an Audi TT in classic Ur-Quattro colors, a Fiat 500 Abarth sporting massive flares and a hood blister full of auxiliary lights, a new Ford Mustang in RS200 livery, a Lancia Delta in Alitalia colors, a Porsche 911 in Rothmans livery, a Renault-Alpine in classic blue, a Rolls-Royce Wraith tribute to the Jules cologne Corniche Coupe, and a relatively modern-looking VW Touran. So far, the favorite around the office is the incredible Mercedes-Benz S-Class that is an homage to the wonderful 300 SEL 6.8 AMG "Red Pig" that essentially put AMG on the map. Check out the gallery above and see which one you like the best. Related Video:

One year since accident, most of Schumacher's sponsors still on board

Mon, Dec 29 2014

It's been almost exactly a year now since Michael Schumacher suffered massive head trauma in a catastrophic skiing accident in Switzerland, and while details on his recovery have remained few and far between, we're sure his progress has been anything but easy. Meanwhile his sponsors have faced a difficult decision of their own: to continue supporting him financially despite getting nothing tangible in return, or cancel their contracts and suffer the blow to their public image as a result. According to Schumacher's longtime manager Sabine Kehm in speaking to news outlets like Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport, most of the imperiled former F1 driver's personal sponsors have remained by his side. The encouraging news updates on what we reported back in August, that Mercedes-Benz and German investment firm Deutsche Vermogensberatung AG were sticking with the champ through the hard times. Other sponsors, including helmet manufacturer Schuberth and watchmaker Audemars Piguet, are also believed to still be on board. Not all of Schumi's sponsors have stuck around, though. German bottled water brand Rosbacher reportedly broke off its contract with Schumacher back in July. And more recent reports confirm that Gaydoul Group fashion labels Navyboot and Jet Set canceled their sponsorship deal earlier this month. These and other contracts made Schumacher one of the world's highest paid sports figures and the first billionaire athlete in the world. Even in retirement, he was still making more than most active F1 drivers. While we don't know just how much he's pulling in during his recovery, here's hoping that his continued sponsors can find a way to make their support worthwhile – and that the champ makes a full recovery in the near future.

Race Recap: Abu Dhabi GP is reversals, luck, leanness and last dances

Mon, Nov 24 2014

We weren't sure if Alter Ego Nico Rosberg, the one who flew into Brazil and showed Mercedes AMG Petronas teammate Lewis Hamilton that he knew also knew how to grab an entire race weekend by the scruff of the neck, arrived in Abu Dhabi. In both Friday practice sessions Hamilton showed Rosberg the way. Then on Saturday, Alter Ego Rosberg took over, taking the last Free Practice session and then pole position by a whopping four-tenths of a second over Hamilton. Thanks to the gimmicky and soon-to-be-obliterated spectre of double points, if Rosberg won the race and Hamilton finished lower than second, the World Championship would remain in German hands. Behind Hamilton came the Williams duo, again, with Valtteri Bottas ahead of Felipe Massa. Daniil Kvyat did swell to put his Toro Rosso in fifth, Jenson Button was just as swell getting his McLaren into sixth. Kimi Raikkonen outqualified his Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso for the third time this year, the pair taking seventh and eighth on the grid. Kevin Magnussen lined the second McLaren up in ninth, Jean-Eric Vergne making the top ten for Toro Rosso in his last race for the team. To be clear, that was the final grid for race: Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel had both qualified in the top ten but were sent to the back of the grid when their Infiniti Red Bull Racing front wings were deemed illegal. They'd start from the pit lane, which was still ahead of Romain Grosjean in the Lotus, who took so many penalties for new engine components that he started the race in Turkey. At lights-out on Sunday, well, it was pretty much lights out. That's when Hamilton got the start of the year, bolting off the line so quickly it didn't take him 100 meters to get in front of Rosberg. The Brit took Turn 1 in the lead, then laid more than a second into the German on the first lap. Rosberg kept close, about 2.5 seconds back, but it was Hamilton's race to lose and everyone knew it; barring a reliability issue or the kind of driving mistake Hamilton hasn't made all year, Britain would have its fourth double world champion. Rosberg was left asking his engineer what kind of strategy they might use to claim first place. That reliability issue did come, but it struck Rosberg on Lap 26 when his entire Energy Recovery System failed, robbing him of 160 horsepower and taxing his brakes.
