1993 Mercedes 500sl Convertible 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars
Santa Barbara, California, United States
This is my 1993 Mercedes 500SL
Convertible. My car is in excellent shape and runs perfectly. It has
no problems and runs and drives amazing. There is only 92k miles on
it. It has the highly desirable triple black paint and interior. It
has both a soft top and a hard top included. The soft top works great
and was replaced a couple years ago. The window shows the usually
yellowing but the top works great and has no leaks at all. The hard
top is in excellent condition and has a nice suede black headliner.
Leather seats are in great shape but have a small pull in the seam on
the drivers side. Overall the interior is in great shape as well. In the interior door panels the seat controls plastic is chipped and they are loose on both sides (needs a new clip inside) but function perfectly. The
paint is quite good, but it is original and does show some minor
wear. No major scratches but one rub mark over the left rear tire.
Front and rear lower bumpers have a few dings on them and could stand
to be repainted if you are a perfectionist. Transmission was rebuilt
a little over a year ago and this car drives fantastic. Over 300hp
this car cruises at 120mph no problem. Handles like a dream. A/C
blows nice and cold. Has an Alpine Stereo system so it plays mp3s and
burned disks as well as Bluetooth and USB. I hate to part with it but I am heading to Europe for work so I have to let her go. This is an amazing car and is perfect for driving around Southern California in. For a more pictures look here: allablur.com/500sl
I can ship this car as long as you make any arrangements. *Pictures are of actual car for sale. Taken this month. Car is badged as a 600 SL but is a 500! Email me if you have any questions or would like some specific pictures that I have not taken!

Mercedes surprised Hamilton with this steering wheel message
Tue, Nov 25 2014Lewis Hamilton had much to celebrate at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this past weekend. Not only did he win the race in commanding form (the 33rd in his career to make him the fifth most successful in Formula One history), but he also scored enough points (double on the season finale this year) to outpace his teammate and chief rival to win the world championship. Having already been crowned champion in 2008, that makes him one of only sixteen drivers to have won multiple world titles. It's a point his team at Mercedes didn't want him to miss, so on the cool-down lap at the end of the race, his pit crew radioed him the message "default 44" – an instruction that triggered this image to appear on the display in the middle of his steering wheel. Apparently Lewis, with plenty else on his mind (like getting his car back to the parc ferme in one piece and with enough fuel), didn't notice what was flashing in front of him. Superimposed, as you can see, over an image of Hamilton as a young lad still in karts is Lewis' name alongside those of the other two-time world champs: Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Emerson Fittipaldi, Alberto Ascari, Fernando Alonso and Mika Hakkinen. (Never mind those who've scored more than two titles.) Intriguingly, Hakkinen is the only other one among them to have won either of his titles under Mercedes power like Lewis did, though Fangio won two of his five titles motivated by Benz engines.
Germany says nein to EU ban on new fossil-fuel cars from 2035
Tue, Jun 21 2022BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's government will not agree to European Union plans to effectively ban the sale of new cars with combustion engines from 2035, Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Tuesday. In its bid to cut planet-warming emissions by 55% by 2030 from 1990 levels, the European Commission has proposed a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions from new cars by 2035. That means it would be impossible to sell combustion engine cars from then. European Parliament lawmakers backed the proposals this month, before negotiations with EU countries on the final law take place. Speaking at an event hosted by Germany's BDI industry association, Lindner said there would continue to be niches for combustion engines so a ban was wrong and said the government would not agree to this European legislation. Lindner, a member of the pro-business Free Democrats, which shares power with the Social Democrats and Greens, said Germany would still be a leading market for electric vehicles. Missouri Mercedes dealer offering free Smart with every SLS AMG purchase
Wed, 05 Dec 2012The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is an exquisite sports car that probably needs no help flying off dealer lots, even with a starting price of almost $200,000, but Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City has come up with an interesting incentive to sweeten the deal. For buyers who purchase a new SLS AMG from dealer stock before the end of the year, the dealership is throwing in a new Smart Fortwo from its inventory at no charge... with a required coupon no less.
In addition to being a great tactic to get a little free press, the spare car also makes sense as an alternative to the SLS, which measures more than 15-feet long - almost twice the length of a Fortwo - and has a 563-horsepower engine that sucks down gas at the rate of 13 miles per gallon in city driving (and even that's provided you don't give in to the devil on your shoulder). Plus, at the end of the day, this really isn't that big of an incentive. Being given a slow-selling $12,490 car for the purchase of a model starting at $199,500 represents about a six percent incentive, which is along the lines of a $1,900 rebate for a $30,000 car.
To get the free Smart, just visit the Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Facebook page, redeem the coupon and then go buy yourself a new SLS AMG. Congratulations!
