Mercedes Sl500 Convertible Removable Hardtop All Power Executive Styling on 2040-cars
Branson, Missouri, United States
A timeless classic, the SL series Mercedes is a stalwart in the long history of collectible German luxury convertibles. This 1999 SL500 Edition is in great shape mechanically and cosmetically with only the few normal wear items mentioned and shown in the photos. A true value for the amount of looks, style and technology that you get for very little money. The removable hardtop is great for year round driving and makes the car as solid and quiet as a hardtop coupe, while the black cloth power convertible top, while normally stowed away for the ultimate driving experience, can be deployed at a moments notice with the touch of a button and never leave the drivers seat! Its most likely going to be kept stowed, but always nice to know that it is there should inclement weather rear its ugly head. Plenty of power from the 300+hp, sewing machine smooth MB V8. A 5 speed automatic overdrive gives effortless shifting and the optional sport mode shift pattern allows the control oriented driver to make the shifting decisions should things get dicey.
This car has its factory Dark Turquoise color intact and in good condition with lots of gloss left. A well cared for, well maintained example. The Ash tan Premium leather interior is a highlight of this car and gives you the feel that a luxury sport coupe should have when you slide behind the wheel and twist the remote entry flip key over in the ignition and the 5.0L V8 fires to life. A great addition to any 3 car garage for a weekend getaway car or a great present for the deserving significant other in your life, this Mercedes is a tremendous amount of car for the money. Bid with confidence. |

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013
Sun, 15 Sep 2013When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.
Mercedes Pullman limo, C-Class Hybrid coming to Geneva
Sun, Feb 15 2015Mercedes-Benz is preparing to show the pinnacles of its engineering and luxury prowess at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March. Towering in physical size among these new vehicles is the long-awaited debut of the S-Class Pullman, according to Reuters. If you think the nearly $200,000 Mercedes-Maybach S600 (pictured above) is the ultimate in opulence available on Mercedes' flagship sedan, think again. The Pullman is the true top dog at a rumored 21-feet long and at a price of around $1 million for the armored version. Earlier patent photos suggest what this behemoth might look like. The driver reportedly sits in a partitioned cabin up front, and the plutocratic passengers are nestled in two facing rows of seats in the rest of the extremely long body. It's possible that Mercedes might not even build the Pullman in-house and leave the duty up to Brabus. However, there's also a rumor that the massive model might not be offered in the US. According to Reuters, the German company is also proving that it can be green by displaying the C-Class Plug-in Hybrid in Geneva. If Mercedes' display of luxury and efficiency don't strike your fancy, then the automaker is bringing some performance with its future Mercedes-AMG GT GT3 racer to the Swiss show.
Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG officially teased in mini video
Mon, 15 Jul 2013The followup to the Mercedes-Benz S550, the S63 AMG, will sport a biturbocharged V8 that will likely turn out around 550 horsepower. The new engine is probably the 5.5-liter, biturbocharged V-8 that's been popping up in everything from the ML63 to the E63 AMG. The front fascia is more aggressive, which shouldn't come as a surprise, while a meaty exhaust setup can be found out back.
We managed to pick all that up from a short, 17-second video posted by MB. The original video that unveiled the S63 AMG has since been pulled down, making this YouTube clip the best look we now have at the new super sedan, at least until the Germans give up the goods for real.
Be sure to check out the video below, along with our original posting on the S63 AMG.
