Check out this slick 1986 Mercedes 560 SEC. The Flagship Ride of Mercedes or THE ROADHOUSE CAR from the movies. This is a locally owned garaged Mercedes. This car has been well maintained and serviced over the years. Its is Dark Grey Metallic over Tan leather interior. The paint is in good shape on the car with exception of some clear coat coming off the sunroof and the trunk lid. The car appears to never been wrecked or damaged and to be all original paint. The interior is in good shape. The leather show little wear for its age. The headliner is new. The dash does have two small cracks in it. All Gauges and options function as they should. The AC blows cold. The sunroof works, however it has not opened since the new headliner was installed. I think the headliner is a little to thick. All chrome is in great shape. Both seat belts arms function properly. All power windows, locks, seats work as they should. This car is equipped with a aftermarket in dash CD Player with good sound. The engine is the stock 5.6L V8 and runs and drives out great. Has plenty of power. The transmission shifts out smooth. Equipped also with the cold weather package which includes Heated Seats and Heated Head Light Wipers. The car is also equipped with factory Cruise Control and Fog Lights. The Rims are stock and tire are in good shape. Probably 50 % life left. The car just has been serviced and has a current VA Inspection just done. This sweet ride has ONLY 144000 actual miles. Factory matching spare rim and tools are still in the trunk. These car are going to be collectibles in the future one day soon. You can look as this as a investment since they did not sell that many of these due to them being the Flagship car and one of the most expensive Benz of it day. As the new ones still are today. I cant think of anything this ride really needs but a new good home. Any inspections are welcomed. Audi considers a rugged SUV — maybe on the Scout platform
Fri, Jan 27 2023Audi engineers are formulating plans to possibly build a “super saloon” luxury off-roader SUV in 2027, It would compete in a segment that now includes the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-Class, according to a report in BritainÂ’s Autocar. According to Audi designer Marc Lichte, quoted in the story, the platform for the new model could be borrowed from the Volkswagen GroupÂ’s recently announced sister brand, Scout Motors, which is currently developing electric-powered concepts and prototypes. While Audi has developed a PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture for its base EV lineup, that would be replaced in the planned model with ScoutÂ’s ladder chassis to provide the steep departure angles and ground clearance needed to negotiate tough terrain, as well as with the latest generation of AudiÂ’s Quattro four-wheel-drive technology, Autocar reports. Audi is well into development of its Activesphere project, an enticing design blend of coupe and hatchback. The Activesphere uses PPE, co-developed by Audi and Porsche, and will appear in a production Audi product by the end of this year. Audi says. Beyond that, “I think there is space" for a rugged SUV in AudiÂ’s passenger car lineup, Lichte said. “There is potential because there are only two premium players” in this particular segment" (Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover) “and I think there is a space for a third one.” The upscale Defender was by far Land RoverÂ’s best-selling car last year, with 66,805 sold, and the G-Class set a new sales record the previous year with 41,174 moved worldwide. Audi obviously would like to capitalize on this popularity of the rugged 4x4 segment. The proposed competitor, said Lichte, “will not look like a G-Class and it will not look like a Defender, I can promise you. It will be something else."
Formula One speeds towards radical thousand-horsepower shakeup
Wed, Feb 11 2015The teams, the drivers, the fans, the circuits... few, if any, were satisfied with how Formula One has shaped up since the current regulations took hold last year. But that doesn't mean they aren't working on it. At a recent meeting of the F1 Strategy Group, the leading parties in the sport outlined a new framework that would radically shake up the cars themselves while keeping costs in check. And the biggest change could see the engines producing around 1,000 horsepower. Although a proposal put forth by Ferrari to ditch the current V6 hybrid engines in favor of new twin-turbocharged units was rejected by Honda and Mercedes, the members of the group approved in principal to increase the fuel flow in the existing engines to dramatically boost output. As it stands, the current 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engines develop around 600 horsepower, with an additional 160 or so kicked in by the electric Energy Recovery System, for a combined output of about 760 hp. What's not clear at the moment is whether the increased fuel flow would necessitate either the return of mid-race refueling (currently banned) or the installation of larger fuel tanks. Red Bull and McLaren also submitted proposals to radically redesign the shape of the cars as well, however a more evolutionary approach was adopted instead. Though far from finalized, the new design would keep the same basic form of the current chassis, but with adjustments to make them more aesthetically pleasing while producing more downforce. Wider tires are also said to be part of the mix. With more power and more grip from the tires and aero, the resulting cars would most certainly end up going much faster than the current ones, which are already starting to nudge the lap records at some of the circuits, many of which were set during the V10 era. The F1 Strategy Group is made up of representatives of the FIA, Formula One Management and six leading teams. The next step will be for the teams' technical directors to iron out how to implement what their bosses have agreed to. If they settle the details fast enough, the revised regulations could be pushed through in time for next season.
