- Copies of recent MAINTENANCE/REPAIR RECORDS (last 6 years)
- OTHER ASSORTED SALES LITERATURE AND CHILTON, MERCEDES, and HAYNES REPAIR MANUALS, plus a PARTS LIST - valued at hundreds of dollars for the collection, included free with purchase!
- a few SPARE PARTS: Also will include extra set of front turn signals, and a fresh tin of custom-blended correct matching paint
- Lots of I-love-this-car extras, like the CUSTOM NAME PLATE and CUSTOMIZED FLOOR MATS, I think there is even an extra tool set under the spare tire. If requested, I will also include all the basics to get you moving: navy umbrella, navy shopping bag, random bag of candy, a selection of 80's cassette tapes....
- Soft top
- Hard top
- Full-size spare on original Mercedes rim
- Hard-top is in excellent shape, it hasn't been used much; the ragtop has a neatly repaired tear on the passenger side, plus I reinforced some spots from the inside for good measure.
- Good exterior condition, excellent interior condition, lady-driven, mostly-summer car.
- Great time of year to buy! If she doesn't find a new home, she will go into storage for the winter and will not be listed for sale. Or I might decide to keep her and sell my Jeep TJ instead. Wouldn't you rather be enjoying this gorgeous car than wishing you hadn't missed out?
- Recent inspections found that the catalytic converter has a small hole, the repair shop recommended replacing the entire exhaust system (of course)
- Everything works except ORIGINAL CASSETTE DECK doesn't play and antenna is stuck. Will include replacement antenna.
- Has needed very little in the way of repairs while I've had it, comparable to an average, much-younger car. I have found eBay to be a great source for parts when needed, so if you are inclined to pretty her up to impress your friends, coworkers or the local classic car club, or just that special someone, you can always do a little tinkering.
- I have loved and cared for this car since 2007, and am, to my knowledge, only the third owner of this car. My Dad had purchased it from a dealership (part of an estate sale I think, it had been parked for many years) and had it for only a few months before I talked him into selling it to me. Now I''ve bought an older home and need a new furnace, hot water tank, flooring, paint, and someday replace the 1975 bathroom…and I no longer have a garage in which to store this lovely old girl during the winter. And so I must part with this luxurious, safe, surprisingly fun beauty.
CAVEATS:
* Original paint has had significant touch-ups laid over top, due to inevitable dings in paint from driving on Alberta highways, parking where careless people also park, and life in general. Paint was custom-blended to match the original using the proper colour code. It needs a good sanding/buffing/polishing and a thick layer of clearcoat, for which I can include a small collection of products and even a buffing machine. The paint shops out here want about two months' of my wages to do a proper job, sorry but I need the new furnace more, I do live in Canada....
** I have had 3 small body panels replaced, namely in front of and behind the rear wheel on the driver's side and under the rear bumper. This was part of a rust remediation done in the spring of 2012, in which the rocker panels were also sandblasted and recoated. Parts used were taken from a Mercedes of the same vintage, so everything is still correct. There are still spots of rust here and there, nothing that can't be remedied. There is some inevitable rust in the front end as well, everything within reach has been treated with a rust inhibitor. My "car guy" father assures me this is normal and not substantial, I can take some closeup photos if needed. Even so, I dropped the price from my previous, well-researched asking price of $13,000 Canadian to compensate you in advance for any trouble.
***Generally, needs a little TLC, as would be expected with any classic car, but overall in quite good shape. Not in mint condition, but those that are generally run $20-30,000.Truly, an excellent value for the quality and condition of the vehicle. If you would like more specifics, please email me.
All statements are true in my opinion and to the best of my knowledge.
I will cooperate with you to have vehicle inspected locally.
I work for a living and am moving plus renovating, so please be patient if I do not answer inquiries immediately.
I will make every effort to respond quickly to any queries.
By the way, her name is "Betty Blue."

Rosberg survives the Mexican mess | 2016 Mexican Grand Prix recap
Mon, Oct 31 2016Roughly ten messy laps defined the Mexican Grand Prix – five laps at the start and five at the end. Those laps included a couple of actual wrecks and a few more near wrecks that turned the entire day into chaos. To have any chance of winning the 2016 Driver's Championship, Lewis Hamilton needed to get his Mercedes-AMG Petronas across the finish line ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg. Once again we got a weekend full of vintage Hamilton, the Brit dominating the from Friday to Sunday, except for the first corner of the first lap. Pole-sitter Hamilton reached Turn 1 clearly in front of the field. But he couldn't make the corner and stay on track, so he zipped into the runoff area and over the grass, rejoining at Turn 3 still ahead of the field. The stewards didn't penalize Hamilton, one commentator's explanation being that Hamilton "was not battling another car." The non-action left car #44 to enjoy a lights-to-flag win. At that very same corner, Rosberg also availed himself of the runoff area. His infraction seemed destined to incur a penalty until replays showed that Max Verstappen in the Red Bull slid wide and bumped Rosberg, causing the German to go off track. No penalties were handed out there, either. Verstappen would return to hound Rosberg later in the race when angling for second place. Verstappen took a stab through Turn 4 on Lap 50 of the 71-lap race, but ran off the track and lost touch with the Mercedes by Lap 55. Ferrari got half of its strategy right in Mexico, putting Sebastian Vettel hard on the charge in the final stint. The German got within DRS range of Verstappen on Lap 67, with Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo a little more than a second behind Vettel. On Lap 68, Verstappen pulled the same move as Hamilton at the beginning of the race: the Dutchman ran wide through Turn 1, zoomed over the grass and rejoined the track at Turn 3, staying ahead of Vettel the whole time. With three laps remaining, the stewards chose to investigate after the race. In spite of Verstappen's own team telling he probably needed to cede position to Vettel, Verstappen stayed in front and slowed just enough to put Vettel under threat from Ricciardo. On Lap 70 Ricciardo had closed up to Vettel's gearbox. Headed for Turn 4, Vettel swung outside to take the corner. When Ricciardo moved inside to pass, Vettel moved inside to block the Aussie while both cars were in the braking zone. The Ferrari made light contact with the Red Bull, but Vettel held his position through Turn 5.
Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 teases gullwing doors in video
Tue, Aug 16 2016Because these are the times we live in, automakers tease their biggest and best debuts mercilessly before finally dropping the curtain. That's why we're writing about the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Concept again. Here's a new video, posted on Mercedes' Instagram page, showing even more of the hulking two-door coupe. For one, it looks like Mercedes is revisiting gullwing doors. There's a brief snippet of the doors in the open position with a red light – possibly a brake light – bisecting the roof. The video also gives us a couple of good looks at the taillights, which are super-model skinny, just like the lamps up front. Look close at the rear three-quarter cut, and you'll spot a strong chrome strip that accentuates and breaks up those beefy rear haunches. It's hard to tell where they fit in with the chrome strips on the front fenders and hood, so we'll probably need to wait until the big debut to see how it all works out. As we've said twice already, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 debuts on August 18. Stay tuned. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. How tariffs in China could cause a meltdown in the American South
Sun, Aug 25 2019While BMW is clearly a German company, the crossovers that are exceedingly important to it are actually made in Spartanburg, South Carolina. And more than that, the Spartanburg plant (physically located in the town of Greer) is where the corporate know-how and capability for those vehicles is concentrated. These are the vehicles – specifically, the BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, X7 – that drove record growth for the company in 2018, according to BMW. But whatÂ’s most notable about BMW Group Plant Spartanburg, given current events, is that according to the U.S. Department of Commerce it was the largest automotive exporter by value for the fifth year running in 2018. ThatÂ’s worth emphasizing: largest automotive exporter by value. Not GM. Not Ford. BMW. And where might one assume that more than a few of those X vehicles are shipped to? China. Some 360 miles southwest of Spartanburg is Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc., in in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. It started building vehicles in 1997. Since then, Daimler AG has invested in excess of $5.5 billion in the facility. It manufactures the crossover now known as the GLE, formerly the ML-Class. It also makes the GLE coupe and GLS. Daimler describes the Tuscaloosa facility as “the traditional home of SUV production” for those vehicles. When it reported its global 2018 sales, Daimler noted that on a global basis SUVs account “for more than a third of all Mercedes-Benz sales.” According to the Chinese finance ministry, on December 15th the Chinese government will impose a 25% tariff on automobiles (and a 5% tariff on auto parts) from the U.S. Certainly this is going to have a direct effect on the sales of vehicles that are manufactured in the U.S. and exported to China. BMW and Mercedes are going to take it on the chin for the vehicles that they make in plants that they invested in so heavily in the U.S. Which could potentially mean that people in places like Greer, South Carolina, and Vance, Alabama, are going to find themselves in the crosshairs of the combatants. Soo too could Lincoln, which produces vehicles in places like Louisville, Kentucky (Navigator), Chicago, Illinois (Aviator) and Flat Rock, Michigan (Continental). Although the Tesla Gigafactory 3 is rapidly nearing completion in Shanghai, it is worth noting that vehicles built in Fremont, California, are being sold in China in numbers that donÂ’t make Musk unhappy.
