Here is a beautiful, solid, straight, documented 1975 450 SEL that was one family owned (father/son) from May 1975 until late 2012, when it was sold to the mechanic who serviced the car thru a shop, for many years and those receipts are included totaling almost $3000 from 8/09 until 6/13 and fewer than 1000 miles during that time. New belts, total brakes including calipers, tune up, valve cover gaskets, battery, tires and more.  Here is an example of miles driven based on service records recorded in the included Mercedes Service Book:

5/20/75       671 Miles
9/15/75       4283
5/12/77      20,026
6/26/78      30,830
10/29/82    49,967
5/7/86        62,981
3/8/90        75,000
8/20/09      80,725

I did not include all the records but this gives you an idea of the way the car was used.  For the last approx. 20 years, the car was stored for use at a summer home here in Michigan by the Illinois owners and used during the summer and serviced by local garage when needed.  The car surprising had one very, very professional repaint almost 20 years ago. I had to look very hard to find any sign of such as surely it was disassembled as much as possible by a professional shop.  As photos show the paint is gorgeous!!!!

The interior is beautiful as shown. The removable floor carpets (like a mat) could stand to be redone (I was quoted $400 by local trim shop using correct carpet from California supplier)as drivers side and drivers rear are in bad shape. The dash is without cracks, the sunroof works flawlessly and even the cruise control works!  The power locks are a bit tired and probably from little use. I drove the car about 80 miles today and it runs like nothing else I have ever driven. it was quite the luxury car of it's time. The V-8 sends this car down the road like you are in a smooth riding luxury train....  Hard to get used to the fact that 38 years ago a top of the line car that cost 3 times what a new Corvette cost, didn't come equipped with a right side outside mirror!!!

The hood insulation was removed years ago as pieces were falling off and burning, scaring the owner of an engine fire, and nothing has been replaced but think it to be a common item with some older cars. The lights work and car is very, very solid without dents, or abuse which is true of so many one owner old cars..... The dated factory radio was replaced at some time with a removable face, Alpine CD player and even the power antenna works!.

NADA shows retail at almost $10,000. While condition is so important on any old car, this car with it's one family ownership care means a lot as no expense was spared, with the exception of the carpet issue.  This car qualifies for historical plates and insurance for attending car shows or dry summer night drives or just use it as an inexpensive daily driver instead of paying $20,000 for a common day econo box and enjoy!

I had a buyer in the country of Jordan..... who never followed thru with his commitment to purchase for $5999 so now open for auction with a reserve less than that.  Bid to own if you can pay per my terms.

Available to ship worldwide and can keep stored inside secure awaiting your shipper that you arrange. I ask for a $500 paypal deposit at time of purchase and balance to be wired to me within 3 days. The title + documentation will be overnighted to you upon receipt of full good funds.

**********In the event the BUY IT NOW is not used, you may want to sign up for one of the auction bidding services that can bid for you during the final seconds of the auction, and......note that there is a BUY IT NOW and the  reserve is less and will be known when met.  PLEASE...be sure you can follow thru with your commitment to purchase, should you be the winning bidder.  Thanks!**********

2016 Malaysian Grand Prix recap: Surprises and missed opportunities

Mon, Oct 3 2016

Mercedes-AMG Petronas pilot Lewis Hamilton drove so well in the run-up to the Malaysian Grand Prix that he said before the race, "Honestly, I don't feel anything is going to stop us." On Sunday, the Sepang race showed what it thought of plans and predictions. Heading into the right-hand Turn 1, Sebastian Vettel practically recreated the dust-up at the Belgian Grand Prix three races ago. When Mercedes' Nico Rosberg swept across from the outside line toward the apex, Red Bull's Max Verstappen had to jink right to avoid, touching Vettel's Ferrari on the inside. Vettel speared straight on and hit Rosberg. Vettel's left front suspension broke, ending his race. Rosberg spun and got moving again, but at the back of the pack. That appeared to put Hamilton on a clear run to the checkered flag. His car looked perfect, his pace was perfect, he easily kept Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Verstappen behind. A result that would have seen Hamilton retake control of the Driver's Championship – at Petronas' home race – got crushed on Lap 41 when Hamilton's engine blew down the main straight. That put Ricciardo in the lead, followed closely by his teammate. Just two laps before Hamilton's exit, Ricciardo and Verstappen had battled for second place with some of the best driving we've seen all season. Ricciardo drove as if exorcising the demons of missed opportunities earlier in the year, keeping the young Dutchman behind. The two Red Bulls took the flag fifteen laps later in that order, clocking the first one-two finish for a team other than Mercedes since 2014. It's Red Bull's first one-two since Brazil 2013, when Vettel and Mark Weber took the top steps at the last race of the V8 era. Rosberg recovered to take third in spite of a ten-second penalty for an optimistic pass on Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn crossed the line 12 seconds later, followed by Valtteri Bottas in the Williams and Sergio Perez in the Force India. In another Belgium repeat, Fernando Alonso drove from the back of the grid to finish seventh. Nico Hulkenberg secured eighth, Jenson Button ninth for McLaren in his 300th grand prix, and rookie Jolyon Palmer scored his first point of the season for Renault in tenth. The issue to trump all others from now until next week's Japanese Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton's terrible luck with engines. Power unit gremlins earlier this season helped drop the Brit to 43 points behind Rosberg after the Russian Grand Prix.

New Mercedes E-Class nearly exposed, may be Maybach

Mon, Sep 14 2015

The all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is marching closer and closer to production, with a new round of spy photos giving us our best look yet at the S-Class-inspired looks of the German brand's executive luxury car. There really is very little camouflage this time around – what's there looks more like the kind of plastic wrapping you'd see on a freshly imported vehicle at the port. In front, we can see the new E will wear similar LED accents to the S- and C-Class. The E-Class' big and little brothers also inspired the tail of the new model, where we can see slightly disguised, vertically oriented LED taillights. Prominent, enclosed exhausts are very similar to what we saw in our spy shots of the Mercedes-Maybach E-Class. Aside from the exhausts, this particular car also wears the same blingy wheels as the range-topping tester we spied last August. The thick-rimmed, multi-spoke design isn't the only giveaway to this car's luxurious intentions, though. Our last Maybach sighting showed a car completely covered in camo, making it difficult to tell just how large the rear doors are relative to the car we're seeing today. Instead of the doors, though, we suggest you look at the windows. Like the August spy photos, this prototype features tinted rear glass, which could perhaps indicate that we're looking at yet another example the second Mercedes-Maybach model. So is this yet another Maybach E-Class? We're leaning towards yes. The size of the back doors – and the rear quarter window, in particular – is close enough to what we saw last month, and the presence of tinted glass, the same exhausts, and the same wheels can't be discounted either.
