Up for Auction, a car that's near and dear to my heart

I am currently selling my prized 1983 Mercedes Benz 300D with a little over 250,000 miles. Everyone knows these Mercedes are built to run forever and this car is no exception. Brand new tires and ceramic brakes. The gentlemen I purchased this car from had all of his work done at the local Mercedes store so it is a solid car. Unfortunately for me I have had to commute to Chicago almost every weekend and with putting excessive mileage on my current lease I must get something more practical for a second car. I just don't want to put the mileage on this classic. The only thing that does not currently work in the car is the dash lights, which I believe is a solenoid behind the dash, I just haven't taken it in to be replaced since I rarely drive it at night. Other then that everything else works top knotch, including the massive sunroof. I love this car and will be sad to let it go...but it is currently being stored in a friends garage and I rarely drive it.   I did add a pretty nice after market stereo that works excellently and is wired correctly to car in which it turns on when car is in accessory mode.  These cars seem to get gobbled up quickly, I had to search about 7 months to get this one, here is your chance to own a rare classic!!!  Due to my extensive mileage per month I need a small fuel efficient car that I can put tons of miles on.   So my loss is your gain.  The headliner was drooping, so I did replace it with a wood strip option, it is removable but I liked it.  I know its not for everyone but made me smile while I drove the car.  I will provide the vin number and a picture of the interior new headliner within a couple of hours after this auction is posted.

  • Comes with a multitude of extras both parts and fluids.
  • Car has clean title extra set of floor mats.
  • 3-4 sets of keys

FREE SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!  As described above I will personally deliver this vehicle 200 miles free of charge upon completion of this auction,  now you have no excuse to own this car!!  Good luck bidding and feel free to ask any questions.

Petrolicious profiles mustard 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 ready to go anywhere

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Mercedes-Benz sedans of the '70s and early '80s are certainly attractive models, but with their hard lines, the four-doors really don't have the graceful curves usually associated with a beautiful car. Instead, it's much more accurate to call these classic Germans handsome. The W114 chassis especially has a powerful stance about it with an upright grille dominating the front and long, flat surfaces elsewhere. Petrolicious takes a look at one man's journey to restore one of these posh vehicles in its latest video. Bernard Bredehorn grew up in the back of his grandparents' W116-chassis Mercedes 280 SE, and when he eventually got a classic of his own, Bredehorn ended up with a 1972 Mercedes 280. However, the sedan was in need of a complete restoration and sat for years in a friend's garage buried under parts. Bredehorn eventually excavated the car and brought it back to life in a very '70s shade of mustard yellow. Petrolicious shows why this classic Mercedes is now happy eat up many trouble-free miles on Germany's roads.

How Atlanta landed Mercedes-Benz

Fri, Jan 16 2015

The first phone call came last spring. An international real estate company had a high-profile client that wanted to relocate its North American headquarters. The client, whose identity was confidential, narrowed the list of prospective sites to Texas, North Carolina and Georgia. Would Georgia officials be interested in a discussion? Behind the scenes, they worked for months to lure the company, touting lower housing prices and a relaxed pace of life. They arranged interviews with CEOs of other companies in Atlanta who could speak about the area's business climate and they augmented negotiations with key executives from a utility company and Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport. Ultimately, they were also offered a reported $40 to $50 million in tax incentives. Secrecy was vital. The intermediary and officials with the Georgia Department of Economic Development gave the project a code name that changed three times throughout the summer and fall, so that only a few people had access to the most basic information. It was called Operation Eagle. It was only in September that the Georgia officials learned the identity of the client, Mercedes-Benz, and only last week that Operation Eagle bore fruit when the company publicly announced it would relocate its North American headquarters from Montvale, NJ, to the north side of Atlanta. "They put themselves in a spot on the north side where millennials can live in the city, and people can live in the northern suburbs and raise a family," Tom Croteau, deputy commissioner of global commerce for the GDED, tells Autoblog. "And when you combine that with the business aspect of a lower-cost environment, that's what we were able to provide them, along with a long-term commitment to support them however we can." In the move, the company benefits from a location that's closer to a growing base of suppliers that work with German car companies in the Southeast, as well as closer proximity to ports in Brunswick, GA, that are some of the busiest in the country. Mercedes-Benz will bring 800 to 1,000 jobs to the area. In addition to the employment, Georgia benefits from another notch in its automotive belt. Atlanta is already home to Porsche's North American headquarters. Kia Motors has a major manufacturing facility in West Point, GA, and General Motors opened an information technology center in Atlanta two years ago that employs roughly 1,000 workers.
