Merced, California, United States

Up for NO RESERVE AUCTION is this very beautiful 1985 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel. This is the one that everybody wants! 1985 was the last year of this beloved Mercedes model, also the most advanced. Sold new in Modesto California, it’s always been a California car. No rust ever! If you have ever owned a Mercedes diesel then you know what wonderful automobiles they are.  Always garaged as is evident by its almost perfect dash, door panels and rear package tray. The interior is like new! Also the original glass is very clear, no clouding. I have owned and driven these cars for over thirty years now, this is one of the nicest 300D Turbo Diesels that I have seen. The paint is smooth and shiny. Runs and drives great. If you have ever wanted to own a nice Mercedes, but don’t want to nurse a worn out car, then this car’s for you! 200k miles is nothing for these cars, I have seen them with over 400k miles still running strong. I’d also be willing to bet that this car has had a new motor at some point because even with 200K on the odometer it doesn’t smoke, not even at full throttle!  Whether you buy this for your collection or to drive every day, this is a car you will never be sorry for buying! Perfect first car for that special teenager, both my daughters have driven diesel Mercedes as teenagers and young adults. Safe and reliable, these cars are almost bulletproof.  NO RESERVE AUCTION!! This means someone will get this beauty. I’ll ship anywhere in the world at buyer’s expense. I can arrange shipping to your door in the U.S., I work with several very good companies. Available for inspection during the auction by appointment, please remember that you are bidding to buy, not just come look. All inspections must be done before the end of the auction. Missouri Mercedes dealer offering free Smart with every SLS AMG purchase

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is an exquisite sports car that probably needs no help flying off dealer lots, even with a starting price of almost $200,000, but Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City has come up with an interesting incentive to sweeten the deal. For buyers who purchase a new SLS AMG from dealer stock before the end of the year, the dealership is throwing in a new Smart Fortwo from its inventory at no charge... with a required coupon no less.
In addition to being a great tactic to get a little free press, the spare car also makes sense as an alternative to the SLS, which measures more than 15-feet long - almost twice the length of a Fortwo - and has a 563-horsepower engine that sucks down gas at the rate of 13 miles per gallon in city driving (and even that's provided you don't give in to the devil on your shoulder). Plus, at the end of the day, this really isn't that big of an incentive. Being given a slow-selling $12,490 car for the purchase of a model starting at $199,500 represents about a six percent incentive, which is along the lines of a $1,900 rebate for a $30,000 car.
To get the free Smart, just visit the Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Facebook page, redeem the coupon and then go buy yourself a new SLS AMG. Congratulations!

Mercedes-Benz releases US-spec 2014 Sprinter details

Mon, 06 May 2013

Last week, Mercedes-Benz released the details for the updated 2013 Sprinter intended for global markets, but this week it has announced what changes are being made to the US-spec version of the van for the 2014 model year, including the Freightliner model. As expected, most of the changes made to the European model will be present on the 2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter when it goes on sale in the US, which is expected to be this fall.
The biggest difference between the Sprinter announced last week and the one headed to our shores is what is found under the hood. While European Sprinters will come with diesel engines and offer the availability of a supercharged four-cylinder gasoline or CNG engine, US Sprinters will still offer the 3.0-liter V6 BlueTEC diesel. This year's Sprinter now comes standard with a new base engine, the 2.1-liter four-cylinder BlueTEC diesel. This smaller engine will produce 161 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, and will be paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission; the optional 3.0 V6 puts out 188 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, and will be mated to a six-speed auto.
Fuel economy for the new Sprinter has not been announced, but Mercedes-Benz has made numerous changes with the goal of improving efficiency. To this end you'll find a new, low-friction rear axle and the optimization for the generator, fuel pump and power steering pump.

UK workers strand car on island of asphalt to keep working

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

Generally speaking, when you illegally park your car, you're likely to get ticketed and towed, but there is probably at least one motorist in Scotland who wishes that was the case. After workers had blocked off a portion of the parking lot for the Edinburgh Waverley railway station, the driver of this Mercedes-Benz S-Class reportedly moved some of the barriers to park in one of the empty spots.
Rather than having the vehicle towed, the work crew simply tore up the asphalt around the leaving just the one parking spot intact, and as you can see in the image above (posted to the Twitter account of Harold Norstad), the crew even built a small asphalt ramp so the car could get off its blacktop pedestal. Since this happened last week, there's no word as to whether the car was eventually moved or towed for the resurfacing work to continue.
Let this be a warning...
