I bought this car from the 2nd owners who had owned it for 20 years. They took great care of it. When I bought it, the owners were moving to Colorado to be near their children and they were going to drive the car out there. Their son intervened. Not because the car would not make it, but because his parents were in their 80's. My wife and I just used the car this weekend on a trip to Pennsylvania Dutch Country, a round trip of about 150 miles. The car performed flawlessly. Runs very cool, excellent oil pressure and cruised steady at 80 mph on the PA Turnpike. It was PA inspected in March and passed with flying colors. Runs very nice and tracks down the road straight and solid. The previous owners put a matched set of Pirelli P6's on the car and they still have half their tread life left. They used Mobil 1 for their oil changes and the car idles perfectly and you cannot feel it running when stopped at a light. All electrics work including the headrests on the seats and the passenger power mirror. Sunroof, windows all work perfectly. The central locking system works nicely.I even tried the cruise control today( I hate cruise control) but wanted to see if it worked and it did. Has an aftermarket Blaupunkt cd player/ radio. The son, who acted on behalf of his parents when the car was sold to me, told me it was his mom's car. He told me she used those big shade boards when she went out and put them in the front windshield and rear package shelf. It paid off as the dash is beautiful and the rear package shelf and tops of rear seats are beautiful also. The door panels are really nice as ar the carpets. The seats are not split or ripped and have only age cracks in the leather. They are very presentable. The only thing that might have to be addressed in the interior is the rear headliner has gotten puffy over the back package shelf. I got a quote to have it drawn tight again. The shop quoted me 125-150. It's for time only, the headliner material is in fine condition. The a/c will have to be recharged as it was only cool last year and now is just warm. The body is very nice. The paint just absolutely glows. I cleaned and polished the car myself and it came up nicely. All the brightwork is very nice. There are 2 spots where the body has bubbled. The one spot is about the size of a quarter and the other spot 2 quarters. I have included the spots in the pucs. They are minor. The bumpers have some scrapes but mostly are decent. I have just ordered spray paint to match the bumpers. It's called Sato Gray and it comes in semi gloss just like the bumpers. I will include that for the new owner. Even the wheels, which have some nicks as you would imagine a 25 yaer old car would, have nice gloss to them. I get thumbs up and people asking me about it all the time. It's not a show car but is extremely presentable and you will be proud to drive this car as I have been.

Mercedes considering GLA-based crossover coupe
Wed, 30 Apr 2014BMW opened a whole Pandora's Box when it introduced the X6 back in 2008. Sure it made little sense, sacrificing all that "utility" for a little more "sport," but it's been a solid success for BMW - especially considering the nominal expense it cost to develop the X6 on top of the X5 on which it's based. Little wonder that, while BMW has already followed up with a smaller version in the form of the X4, other automakers are starting to catch up. And that includes Mercedes-Benz.
The German automaker is preparing to launch a new MLC, based on the M-Class but with a sportier silhouette, and previewed it with the Concept Coupe SUV at the Beijing Motor Show. But that's just the start, according to the latest report from Automotive News Europe.
Mercedes is reportedly considering spinning off an entire line of crossovers more for use on the road than off it. Which may go without saying for most crossovers on the market, but considering the Geländwagen with which Mercedes got its start in SUVs, would mean an even further departure than it has undertaken already.
Fastest cars in the world by top speed, 0-60 and quarter mile
Tue, Feb 13 2024A claim for the title of “Fastest Car in the World” might seem easy to settle. ItÂ’s actually anything but: Are we talking production cars, race cars or customized monsters? And what does “fastest” even mean? For years, car publications have tended to define “fastest” in terms of an unbeatable top speed. ThatÂ’s distinct from the “quickest” car in a Usain Bolt-style dash from the starting blocks, as with the familiar 0-60 mph metric. Professionals often focus on track lap times or elapsed time-to-distance, as with a drag racer thatÂ’s first to trip the beam of light at the end of a quarter-mile; or the 1,000-foot trip of nitromethane-powered NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car dragsters. Something tells us, however, that you're not seeking out an answer of "Brittany Force rewriting the NHRA record books with a 3.659-second pass at a boggling 338.17 mph." For most barroom speed arguments, the focus is firmly on cars you can buy in showrooms, even if many are beyond the financial means of all but the wealthiest buyers and collectors. Here are some of the enduring sources of speed claims, counter-claims, tall tales and taunting dismissals that are the lifeblood of car enthusiasts – now with EVs adding an unexpected twist to these passionate pursuits.  Fastest from the blocks: 0-60 mph Thirty years ago, any car that could clock 60 mph in five seconds or less was considered extremely quick. Today, high-performance, gasoline-powered sedans and SUVs are routinely breaking below 4 seconds. As of today, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 crushes all with a 0-60 mph time of just 1.66 seconds. That's simply absurd, but keep in mind the Demon was engineered with the single-minded purpose of going fast in a straight line. It's also important to realize that direct comparisons are difficult, because not all of these times were accomplished with similar conditions (prepped surfaces, adjustments for elevation and so on). The moral here is to take these times with a tiny grain of salt. After the Dodge, the Rimac Nevera comes in with an officially recorded 0-60 mph time of just 1.74 seconds. EVs crowd the quickest list, with the Pininfarina Battista coming in a few hundredths slower (1.79 seconds) than the Nevera and the Lucid Air sapphire (1.89 seconds) right after that. Eventually, you arrive to the Tesla Model S Plaid, which has a claimed 1.99-second 0-60 mph time, though instrumented testing by Car and Driver shows it accomplishes the deed in 2.1 seconds.
Smart will go electric-only in United States and Canada
Tue, Feb 14 2017By 2018, the Smart car brand will be only known as an electric vehicle manufacturer in the US. According to Automotive News, sales of gasoline-powered Smart cars will cease later this year, and Daimler will develop the product portfolio into a solely electrified one. This coincides with the upcoming launch of the new generation Smart ForTwo electric drive models this summer. Automotive News claims to have obtained a letter from Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Dietmar Exler sent to US dealers. In it, he underlines the decision to go electric-only, saying "developments within the micro-car segment present some challenges for the current Smart product portfolio," and that the change will only affect North American sales. Production of US-destined gasoline-powered Smarts will cease in April, and sales will continue until stock runs out. The current generation has been on sale from 2015, and it hasn't reached the 2014 sales peak of 10.453 units of the previous generation; last year, there were little more than 6.200 Smarts sold in the States. The first electric drive Smarts were unveiled a decade ago, but they became available in the USA five years later, initially via various trial programs, including Car2Go fleets. Related Video:
