Overall this car is in very good condition. This vehicle sat for a year before we purchased it. We purchased this car here in Tucson Az a couple months ago and have really intended to do some more work to this vehicle, but we are not in a position to keep this car in good shape as we live in the country and have no garage for it. And really no knowledge of these diesel vehicles. So here it is up for auction. This is what we have done to this vehicle: Changed the oil filter -two gas filters- front brakes vacuum lines and haven taken this car to the Mercedes Benz dealer ship here in Tucson and had the original becker radio reset. This vehicle has a small fuel leak that the dealer quoted us 250.00 to fix and we are just not in financial shape for restoring or repairing a car that deserves more than we can offer. There is a drip on the tranny gasket that is more annoying than anything, and actually we took the underbelly off to see if there were any leaks of any-kind and that is how we found this leak, so at some point the buyer would have to replace that gasket. The car shifts strong and smooth going down the Highway. We added one can of 134 A to a proffessionally retrofitted system and the A/C blows cold and all the climate controls work. We just took it through emissions April 23rd 2013 and the emissions are good for another year, they are required yearly here in az. There is a crack in the dash from az sun as this car has been in az since 2007 and it came from california. This vehicle starts first time every time and drives nice with all electrical components working very good with an operating sunroof. This vehicle needs some things done and would not really take much for the guy or gal that has a little more time, energy, knowledge and money than we do! Seats are in excellent condition and the front seats have seat covers on them in the pictures I pulled them back so you can see. There is a little work to be done with the plastic around console but not bad at all, it is loose. The oil pressure goes right up and stays at 3 when started and goes down to 2-1/2 when at a light. The tranny shifts at the same speed every time but the fluid level should be monitored until the gasket is replaced. This car has antilock brake system and anti-theft device on passenger side under the floor board, for the Becker Radio. This vehicle has all power Door locks and the doors can be opened by using the trunk key as well. The truck need a little adjustment as the az, wind caught it and threw it out of adjustment but still operates as intended. I can hear the antenna motor working but it is not raising the antenna. If you were to puchase this car and drive it home it would need better tires and they are very easy to come by here at the local tire shops, We would love to keep this car and reality tells us we need a truck out here in the country, and classic or luxury cars will have to wait. For right now we drive this car twice a week to go 12 miles into town and 12 miles back for shopping so the miles will reflect that. We have a clean Az, Box A title original miles 228,047 on title. We will have it notorized with you present. Well thank you and any thing else we can tell you that we have not written here we can answer promptly by email. Thank you Al and Kathy

Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet fetches record $1.4 million at auction
Mon, Oct 9 2017Alas, G-Wagen fans: The last available 2017 Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet has sold to a private Belgian buyer, with all proceeds to benefit the children's sports charity the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The price tag at the Zoute Sale at Bonhams was a record ˆ1.2 million, or about $1.4 million. We previously dubbed the luxury off-roader " the ultimate safari machine" for its super-extravagant features. Its soft top can be raised or lowered electronically, as can a glass partition to the driver's compartment (wouldn't be a Landaulet without that, now would it, Jeeves?). What's more, the two rear seats can be fully reclined, with leg rests extending from below, and with access to folding tables, 10-inch LCD screen and heated, cooled and illuminated (!) cup holders. As it has the number 650 in its name, however, the Landaulet also features a twin-turbocharged V12 that generates 630 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. Bringing up the G-Wagen part of the bargain is a four-wheel-drive system with front, center, and rear differential locks, that sends power to solid portal axles front and rear, which move the differential and drive axles above the wheel centers for additional ground clearance. The grandest G sold Friday in Brussels was reportedly straight from the factory and one of only 99 to be built. No G650 Landaulets were sold in the United States. The Bonhams Motoring Department's fifth annual Zoute Sale also saw the purchase of a 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC Coupe for ˆ805,000 euros ($945,000), the second most-valuable lot of the sale. Related Video:
Why we can't have better headlights here in the U.S.
Tue, Mar 13 2018It wouldn't be a European auto show if we weren't teased with at least one mainstream vehicle we can't have here. At the Geneva Motor Show last week, the small but vocal contingent of shooting-brake buffs lamented that the Mazda6 wagon won't be coming to our shores, although they can take comfort in the fact that the vehicle won't get the torquey 250-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine we'll get here. Mercedes-Benz also announced a new headlight technology in Geneva that likely won't be available here anytime soon. It's just the latest in a long line of innovative and potentially lifesaving front-lighting solutions that the federal government doesn't allow in this country due to outdated standards — and a current lack of leadership at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mercedes-Benz's new Digital Light system that debuted in Geneva uses a computer chip to activate more than a million micro-reflectors to better illuminate the road ahead. The Digital Light headlamps works with the vehicle's cameras, sensors and navigation mapping to adjust lighting for the given location and situation and to detect other road users. The Digital Light technology also serves as an extended head-up display of sorts by projecting symbols on the pavement ahead to alert drivers to, say, slippery conditions or pedestrians in the road. And it can even project lines on the road in a construction zone or through tight curves to show the driver the correct path. Digital Light will be available on Mercedes-Maybach vehicles later this year, although like any technology it's bound to trickle down to less expensive vehicles. That is, if we ever get it here in the U.S. Audi, a leader in automotive lighting, has repeatedly run into snags trying to bring state-of-the-art car headlights to the U.S. The German luxury automaker's recently introduced matrix laser headlight system, which performs many of the same trick as Mercedes-Benz's Digital Light, also isn't legal on U.S. roads. And five years after the introduction of its matrix-beam LED lighting, which illuminates more of the road without blinding oncoming motorists with brights by simultaneously operating high and low beams, Audi still can't bring that technology to the U.S. either.
Race Recap: Abu Dhabi GP is reversals, luck, leanness and last dances
Mon, Nov 24 2014We weren't sure if Alter Ego Nico Rosberg, the one who flew into Brazil and showed Mercedes AMG Petronas teammate Lewis Hamilton that he knew also knew how to grab an entire race weekend by the scruff of the neck, arrived in Abu Dhabi. In both Friday practice sessions Hamilton showed Rosberg the way. Then on Saturday, Alter Ego Rosberg took over, taking the last Free Practice session and then pole position by a whopping four-tenths of a second over Hamilton. Thanks to the gimmicky and soon-to-be-obliterated spectre of double points, if Rosberg won the race and Hamilton finished lower than second, the World Championship would remain in German hands. Behind Hamilton came the Williams duo, again, with Valtteri Bottas ahead of Felipe Massa. Daniil Kvyat did swell to put his Toro Rosso in fifth, Jenson Button was just as swell getting his McLaren into sixth. Kimi Raikkonen outqualified his Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso for the third time this year, the pair taking seventh and eighth on the grid. Kevin Magnussen lined the second McLaren up in ninth, Jean-Eric Vergne making the top ten for Toro Rosso in his last race for the team. To be clear, that was the final grid for race: Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel had both qualified in the top ten but were sent to the back of the grid when their Infiniti Red Bull Racing front wings were deemed illegal. They'd start from the pit lane, which was still ahead of Romain Grosjean in the Lotus, who took so many penalties for new engine components that he started the race in Turkey. At lights-out on Sunday, well, it was pretty much lights out. That's when Hamilton got the start of the year, bolting off the line so quickly it didn't take him 100 meters to get in front of Rosberg. The Brit took Turn 1 in the lead, then laid more than a second into the German on the first lap. Rosberg kept close, about 2.5 seconds back, but it was Hamilton's race to lose and everyone knew it; barring a reliability issue or the kind of driving mistake Hamilton hasn't made all year, Britain would have its fourth double world champion. Rosberg was left asking his engineer what kind of strategy they might use to claim first place. That reliability issue did come, but it struck Rosberg on Lap 26 when his entire Energy Recovery System failed, robbing him of 160 horsepower and taxing his brakes.
