Up for sale is my Mercedes Benz 300D with exceptionally low mileage. I had sold it locally but the buyer was trying to get a loan and was unable to obtain the loan so I decided to list it here. This 1978 Benz 300D (Diesel) sedan is in excellent shape. In all honesty, it is not in mint condition but has some rust spots which can be repaired. However, the mileage is exceptionally low (about 103,XXX miles) and runs great as should be expected since most of these cars run 400K - 500K. Fuel consumption Mileage is also pretty good and regular maintenance was recently done with all new glow plugs. For a 35 year old car, the body of this car is in fair to good condition and the interior is clean. I will list the good and the bad below and you be the judge:
GOOD:
Quality car with very low mileage - ideal candidate for a bio-diesel or veggie conversion
Painted about 4-5 years ago so paint looks great
Runs great
New glow plugs (2 extras in car)
New rear brakes with new caliper
New rear shock absorbers
Newer radiator
Newer exhaust
Great mileage
No cracks in dash
All electronics work with the exception of the radio antennae
BAD:
Small rust spot (will include more pictures shortly). Not critical.
Transmission shifter doesn't go into Park immediately and sometimes needs to be moved up 1-2 times - needs cable adjustment. Not critical.
Will need two coil springs in the back - I had the shocks replaced but the mechanic told me the springs could also be replaced. Not critical.
Little crack in dash by ignition
A/C does not blow cold and will probably needs to be charged. I just open the sunroof when I need to.
I bought it to convert it to Bio and Veggie oil but my commute is dropping and I just could not justify the expense of the conversion since not sure if it is necessary for me to do that - this car is a perfect fit for a veggie oil conversion. The reason I am selling it is because it's an extra car for me. I still have it listed for local sale and reserve the right to end this auction if it sells. However, if an eBay buyer uses the Buy it Now price or the reserve it met, the car will be sold to the eBay buyer.
Deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction.
If you have any questions, please drop me a line here or call me at 8605736447.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Bidding!
Note: I entered the VIN number (as listed) but it appears that it is too old for Car Fax or Autocheck.

Project Maybach is an absurd, awesome off-road electric coupe
Wed, Dec 1 2021Mercedes has created some mighty unusual concepts for the Maybach luxury brand. The Exelero high-speed test car and the Ultimate Luxury SUV sedan come to mind. But the Project Maybach, designed in collaboration with late fashion designer Virgil Abloh, may be the wildest yet, being an electric off-road coupe. It's not just the fact it's a two-door off-road coupe. It's the fact that it's a nearly 20-foot-long two-door off-road coupe. And it has very traditional proportions and lines, with a gargantuan front end, and a somewhat less gargantuan rear end. It's squared-off, but in a more elegant, midcentury luxury car way than say, a Hummer. And of course, it has a huge chrome grille and highly embellished taillights, complete with Maybach logos. And yet, this old-school coupe sits high off the ground. It rolls on small, steel-style wheels with chunky tires. It even has skid plates, bolt-on fender flares, rock rails and a roll cage with a roof basket. It's all painted in a matte tan paint that makes it look like a desert-ready expedition vehicle. It's even arguably practical for expedition work. The somewhat spartan-looking interior has tan leather seats that recline fully flat for sleeping. Being an electric car with long areas unoccupied by people, plus that roof basket, it likely has loads of cargo space. On the hood are solar panels that might provide a bit of range, but would at least be handy for recouping some power for accessories. The interior seems to have additional storage bins and tools stowed in special compartments around the cabin. As for the actual performance and range, well, Mercedes has nothing specific. That's not entirely surprising, since this seems to be solely a design exercise. As such, don't expect to see a production model anytime soon. Then again, off-road luxury vehicles are certainly popular. Maybe Mercedes would consider it if there were enough seriously wealthy customers expressing interest. Related video:
Sales start for $146,000 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug In Hybrid
Sun, Aug 3 2014Mercedes-Benz's first production plug-in hybrid is chock full of astounding numbers, including the price tag. The base price is 108,944.50 euros, or about $146,000 US. If that didn't make your eyes glaze over, the Daimler division is ready to take your down payments now that the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid is officially on sale. Deliveries to European dealerships start in September. Details on the PHEV sedan were divulged last August and it was first shown off at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Benz calls it the, "first luxury saloon with the performance of a V8 and the fuel consumption of a compact model." That's no exaggeration. The car's powertrain that pairs a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo with an electric motor that delivers 436 horsepower and a 0-62 mile per hour acceleration time of just 5.2 seconds. Top speed is 155 miles an hour. On the green side, the car can go as far as almost 21 miles on electric power alone and gets a fuel-efficiency rating, on the more lenient European driving cycle, of 84 miles per gallon equivalent. The car also includes a so-called COMAND navigation system that tweaks how the electric motor is used based on the driver's desired route. Very high-tech. We've got Mercedes-Benz's press release below. Meet Buster, this 1968 Porsche racecar transporter from Mercedes
Thu, Dec 11 2014If you're thinking about Porsche and Mercedes-Benz when it comes to motorsports, your first thought is probably on the two German brands battling on the track. However, for decades, whenever Porsche's factory team went to compete, a custom Mercedes was right along with them hauling the racecars. These days the truck lives in the Brumos Collection in Jacksonville, FL, and goes by the nickname Buster. However, its story goes back to 1968 when Porsche ordered two commercial vehicles from Mercedes and then handed them over to a Stuttgart-based outfitter for customization. The results were these racing transporters that hauled models like the 917 and 956 until the '80s. The other survived, too, with a place in Porsche's collection. Well-known racers in their own right, Brumos scooped up the transporter in 2003 and have kept driving it to vintage racing events. The interior now boasts the signatures of many of the great drivers from the era of this historic truck. Watch the video for the whole story on the Mercedes with a whole lot of Porsche inside.
