I am selling my beautiful Mercedes!  I am in the military and am moving this summer and the military will only ship one car, so I have to sell this one.  The car has about 106,300 miles.  The body and paint are in excellent condition, and except for this year, the car has lived in CA.  A biodiesel conversion kit has been installed so the car runs on either diesel or biodiesel (i.e. used oil, etc) although I've only ever run it on diesel.  I purchased the CD player that you see in the pictures, and although I have not installed it, it comes with the car.  There are Pioneer speakers in the back window.  There are 3 floor mats in the trunk, but they are not in excellent condition.  The air conditioner works, but it is not very strong.  The car is very clean, both inside and out. Last week I had the oil and all filters changed, and flushed the transmission fluid.  The battery is about a year old, and about a year ago I had the entire braking system overhauled.  Last summer I replaced the starter.  The car doesn't need any maintenance or work done, and runs great.  It is very fun to drive.

The glove box is cracked and is sometimes difficult to close, but it does close.  There are 2 small scratches in the leather on the passengers side door. The previous owner did a lot of maintenance, to include replacing the steering unit, rear sway bars, valves, front left caliper, and shift rod bushings.

The car comes with 2 keys and original manuals and the spare and jack.  There are 2 previous owners, no reported damage, and I have a clear title (see the car fax report).

I am not offering any sort of warranty, and although I recommend inspecting the car before purchasing it, I will ship it anywhere or assist with travel arrangements.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to see any additional pictures.  This is a good deal.

Thanks!

**I could not figure out how to attach the PDF of the carfax report.  If you want to see it, send me an email and I will send it to you.

Toyota and Mercedes begin the Super Bowl ad teases with dads and hares

Tue, Jan 20 2015

Advertising Age says pregame buzz is where Super Bowl advertisers really build momentum for their Big Game commercials, so let the teasing continue. We've seen the 30-second spot for the Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota are next out of the tunnel with campaigns that focus on a fable and fathers, respectively. The Mercedes tease gets former NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice lining up a talking-heads debate with eight-year-old Andrew Hunter about whether Hunter's hare could beat a tortoise in a race, but it's a disaster before it even begins. In what will be a continuing storyline, a social media component lets people side with #TeamTortoise or #TeamHare, with "a Big Race viewing party" going to a lucky winner. Mercedes also promises there'll be a hero at the end, which we imagine will something in the Three-Pointed-Star family as opposed to the Testudinae or Leporidae families. Toyota's all about the biological family, rolling out a series of tweets and Vine videos showing off ex-NFL'ers and their kids to hype the "One Bold Choice Leads to Another" campaign for the Camry. The profiled paterfamiliae will be examples of those "who have contributed to their families' lives in bold ways." A 60-second spot during the pre-game will feature Paralympic athlete Amy Purdy, then those stand-up dads will get their own 60 seconds during the second quarter. The social media tag for this one is #OneBoldChoice. You can watch Mercedes' opening salvo above, and check out a Toyota tweet with ex-quarterback Kurt Warner below. Mercedes and VW battling Uber and Apple to spend billions on Nokia mapping division

Tue, May 12 2015

Whether for autonomous driving or simply better navigation, digital mapping is closely linked with the future of motoring. The sale of a major player in that industry is spurring a showdown between automotive behemoths and tech giants, and it's a fascinating battle to watch unfold. Nokia is selling its Here mapping division, and while the company might not have the name recognition of Google, it controls about 70 percent of the auto market. The business is valued at $785 million, according to Reuters, but is likely to sell for significantly more. Case in point: Uber reportedly submitted a $3 billion bid. Apple has also been rumored to be among those interested in purchasing Here. A trio of German automotive heavyweights is mounting a challenge to Silicon Valley, though. According to Reuters speaking to two unnamed insiders, Daimler, BMW, and Audi are teaming up to submit a joint bid for an undisclosed sum. They're worried that if Here falls under the control of tech companies, then automakers might have limited availability to these vital maps in the future. Nokia bought Here for $8.1 billion in 2007, according to Reuters. The company operates a fleet of vehicles with cameras and LIDAR that drive around the world to create high-definition maps. It also generates even more information by using the GPS data from shipping and trucking companies.

Firing of M-B boss upheld

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Ernst Lieb, the disgraced former CEO of American operations for Mercedes-Benz, will not be getting any more money from the Silver Arrow'd teat. His wrongful dismissal suit against MB's parent company, Daimler, was tossed out of a German appeals panel. This, followed the initial rejection by a lower court last year.
According to court documents acquired by Automotive News, Lieb was found to have "accepted payments of substantial value to which he - as he was aware - had no claim."
Lieb took over American operations from former CEO Paul Halata in September of 2006. Reports surfaced in October of 2011 that Lieb was dismissed from his posting at MB, with a variety of rumors swirling. Eventually, news broke that financial wrong doing was responsible for the German's firing.
