Really solid old Mercedes 300 SD turbodiesel. My business involves CNG and propane fumigation of diesel engines, and I bought the car as a publicity stunt because I figured I could make it get 70 mpg or better on propane or CNG. Things are so busy for me that I just don't have time to recondition the car and convert it. I'd rather find another one later. These are great WVO conversion candidates, and if you really wanted to get green, use WVO and propane/CNG together! I'll sell you a kit and advise you on your install.

The car is solid with only two small rust spots on the driver's side door, just above the trim. There is no rust in any of the typical Mercedes places. The car has the immortal Mercedes 5 cyl turbodiesel engine. These engines are famous for being half million mile motors. She's a little cold-natured, and needs all the the little things that a 30 year old car needs, but nothing major that I know of. Once it's warmed up, it runs very well. The upholstery is truly amazing. The car comes with two extra wheels, both with studded snow tires on them. The tires are almost new. There is a pretty big crease on the driver's side front fender, but new fenders are less than a hundred bucks on ebay.

If you're anywhere in the midwest, you know how hard it is to find these cars around here. They're all on the west coast or the east coast. I spent a year trying to find one close enough to South Dakota to make it worth my while. I'll probably regret letting this one go, but it's the prudent thing for me to do right now.

Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]

Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid for fat cats frugal with fuel

Judging by how long we waited to get a clear shot of the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid, you'd have thought hybrid cars were only driven by Terminators and that the technology arrived only 48 hours ago through a wormhole in the Mercedes stand. The newest member of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class hybrid band - joining the S400 Hybrid and S350 BlueTEC Hybrid, it hits notes like a 5.5-second sprint from standstill to 62 miles per hour, up to 19 miles of ion-powered running and uses three liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in Europe (78.41 mpg US, but our mpg test cycle is different than their mpg test cycle).
The lump up front is a turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6, the lump in back - note the reduction in trunk space - is a pack of lithium-ion batteries that juice an 80-kilowatt electric motor. Other than having four drive options for controlling electric drive and battery usage, it's all S-Class all the time, with leather-covered everything and those mountainous thrones that bring to mind words like "Archduke" and "Papal."
