Ok I will try to describe everything but I am sure I will probably miss some things so please feel free to ask me questions. I bought this car about 3 years ago for my wife as a daily commuter to and from work. She works in the biodiesel industry and we wanted something that would be a fun daily driver and easy on maintenance and great on fuel economy. She travels about 60 miles round trip everyday. I found it in Atlanta and flew down and drove it home to Missouri. With a growing family we recently bought a diesel Excursion. With a non-growing garage something has to go. It has been a great car and we will miss it but it is time for a new home.
I have bought and sold a couple vehicles on e-bay and have never had any problems and nothing but positive experiences and I plan to keep it that way. For that reason I will describe all the bad first so that there are no surprises. If I forget to describe something or you are not happy when you see the car... within reason, I will refund your deposit and you will not lose anything. I want everyone to be happy with the transaction. This car is not a show car, it is a driver. I did not buy it to restore and have not done anything to it cosmetically, but with a few minor things it could be a show winner. First off with the exterior. There is some small rust bubbling the paint at the rear of the front fender wells. It is nothing major and you have to be close up to notice it. The paint in general is starting to fade but I think with a good wax and buffing it could come back to a pretty good shine. There are a couple small scratches here and there but no dents of any kind and no body work I can find. From 12 feet it is a show stopper, up close it has some minor issues just from normal wear and tear. The little plastic hood latch is broken but I have a wire tie that works fine and it is even blue to match. Something is off kilter in the hood springs and it catches and has rubbed the paint at the corners. It is almost like they are to tight. I am sure they could be adjusted but it is not an issue for me. The power antenna has been broken off but still gets great reception as is.
The interior is a little rougher than the exterior but very usable as is and not horrible. The front seats and arm rest have a couple minor tears. It is missing a bezel on the dash around the climate controls. The dash pad is of course cracked, but there is a cover on it so it looks great! I plugged the vacuum to the power locks so you don't ever have to worry about them being a problem, they are just manual locks! The rear passenger window keeps blowing a fuse. I have a new motor for it I will include. No cruise control and no window washer fluid, I have never investigated either, but I am sure it is minor as all the wiring is there and unmolested. The head liner is sagging in the back a little. Carpet is sun faded in the trunk. The car is in nice shape, but it does show 30+ years of wear and tear. AC is all there and hooked up, but probably needs drained and charged.
Ok now for the good. The motor and tranny were rebuilt in 1997 and they did an incredible job. The motor runs and shifts like new and get this, it does not leak a drop! Starts and idles perfect always. I am big on my vehicles being very dependable and I would not hesitate to drive this car with my wife and two kids in it across the country right now. All lights and gauges work. These cars originally had a funky hydraulic self leveling shock system in them. That has all been removed and converted to standard shock and coil spring suspension. This car is awesome to drive. On the highway it feels like you are sitting in your couch floating along. I had all the front tie rods and ball joints done a year ago and it is truly a one finger on the wheel car. Breaks are great. It tracks great and is a joy to drive on the highway. There is no rust whatsoever on the undercarriage. With the factory undercoating it looks almost new. All the jack points are strong solid and perfect.
I will probably add more as I think of it through out the week and please ask me questions. The vehicle is in Columbia, MO. I will deliver to the St Louis or Kansas City area for free. If you want to fly in and drive it home I will pick you up from the airport. Of course all dependant on my schedule. I will gladly work with any shipper and will assist with what I can.

Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Koenigsegg Lego sets coming this summer
Sun, May 5 2024Lego has announced a slew of new automotive-themed sets. As is typical fashion for brand of building toys, the subject matter leans toward ultra-exotic, ultra-expensive vehicles, ranging from a $139,000 Mercedes SL63 on the low end to a $3 million Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut on the high end. If you can't afford those cars in real life, soon you'll be able to build your own plastic models of them. Some of the real-world counterparts aren't obtainable no matter what the cost. Take the Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo, for example. The one-off concept was designed by Lamborghini exclusively for Gran Turismo, the PlayStation racing simulator. However, Lamborghini did build a 1:1 version for the physical world, with the 808-horsepoewer hybrid V12 from the Sian FKP 37 beneath its bodywork. The Lego version is part of the company's Speed Champions line, which measure about 6 inches long. It does an excellent job of capturing the original's insectoid look and Y-shaped taillights. The set is made up of 230 pieces and will retail for $26.99. This is Lego's first Vision Gran Turismo car but we hope to see more. Also joining the Speed Champions line are two 2-car sets. An Aston Martin-themed set pairs a Vantage safety car with an AMR23 Formula 1 racer. Both are finished in AMR's bright green with actual sponsor logos. The set contains 564 pieces and will cost $44.99. Also arriving as a 2-car set are a pair of Mercedes-AMGs. A black G 63 and yellow SL 63 Roadster, along with a pair of sunglasses-clad bros, make up the 808-piece set. It also retails for $44.99. All three Speed Champions sets arrive on June 1, 2024. If you're looking for something a bit more advanced and detailed, Lego also offers the Technic line. First up is a Porsche GT4 e-Performance, a 1,000-horsepower race car based on the 718 Cayman. This set can also function as a remote controlled car that moves forward, backward, and steers via a downloadable smartphone app. The 834-piece set costs $169.99. Last but not least, there's the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, a model of the Swedish supercar that is said to have a top speed of over 300 mph. The model does an admirable job of capturing the car's 0.278 Cd drag coefficient, considering it's comprised of 801 individual plastic bricks. This set will retail for $49.99 and, along with the Porsche, comes out August 1, 2024. Related Video LEGO Speed Champion Build: 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback
Autoblog drives to the Arctic Circle
Fri, 22 Mar 2013In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles
Mon, May 13 2024It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.
