I'm selling my 1993 300SE. -LAST OF THE TANKS- Rare Tropen Green Metallic two tone,Mushroom SMOKE FREE Interior (tan). This car is in Great condition for its age with only minor wear from 20 years of use. locks, keyless entry, power windows and sunroof all work perfectly, although I suspect the left rear windows may be due for a regulator soon.. and the power antenna is in need for a new motor ( mast is fine) ..I just don't use it either of those two things.   I am the 4th owner. 201,120 Miles. This car is unique in the fact that it has had the opportunity to be owned by owners that believed in maintenance at a Mercedes dealer and following the actual Mercedes Benz service schedule (rare). Selling this car because I've bought a new F-150.. The owner before me was a Mercedes tech and took meticulous care of this car. He had worked on it for the previous owners at the dealership and noted the care they put into it and bought it when it was traded in. The car looks great for the age, the paint cleans up well, although starting to show its age. However no peeling or anything like that. The front bumper has some scratches in it. NO CORROSION! This car- up until last year, was GARAGE KEPT.  The car has 4 Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires with about 25k put onto them  as  they look pretty new still. Oil Changes with Mobil 15w40 Every 3,000k since new, plugs every 15k miles, filters and all exactly to spec and only using Genuine Mercedes Benz parts.  Car Does not burn oil, Runs GREAT and has a lot of documented work done on it.  Lots of receipts from previous owner and some other maintenance documentation. There however is one problem with the car which has actually been going on for the past 50k miles.. The Transmission has a strange shift from 2nd to 3rd- I bought it this way from the former owner - (Mercedes Technician) He actually bought it that way too...  He drove it for about 40K like that and I drove it for about 10K with no change in frequency or indications of it getting worse. For what its worth, the official opinion of the Mercedes tech was that it doesn't act like a mechanical slip but more as if its a modulation or valve body issue such as a spring .Other than that, this car is really in great shape!  I Drove this car 50 Miles a day as a daily driver as did the previous owner before me with out a single issue. This car has had so much done to it for it to slip into someones hands for a parts car or junker. Below I will list SOME of the maintenance history that's within the last 40k. Also two very noteworthy maintenance issues that were addressed with this car the correction of two very common COSTLY issues with this car... one being the A/C Evaporator ( Huge Job consisting of 28 Hours of labor and 1800 in parts)  so the Climate control works 100% and the A/C is ice cold. The other is the Engine wiring harness- another Mercedes issue for a few years... the coating of the wires deteriorated faster than the car resulting in a barrage of electrical problems ... this was also FIXED and a new updated MB harness installed.  Please Note this is a 20 year old car and that there are items that are worn from age and so forth and I am not offering any warranty implied or given as this car is to be sold as-is. To my knowledge, I have described this car as best I could so there are no hidden issues as I take pride in my honesty in all my listings when selling items- look at my feedback.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask before you bid.  May be able to help with arranging shipping ( at your expense)  if necessary.
(Pics I took were from February after I got it detailed for the year.) Happy Bidding!!

2018 Range Rover Sport Coupe spied in Scotland

Wed, Jun 8 2016

Sport utility vehicles are the rage. SUVs with coupe styling are pretty popular, too, as BMW and Mercedes have demonstrated. Now it's Land Rover's turn. Believed to be the upcoming Range Rover Sport Coupe, this ute was spied this week during top secret testing at a remote location in Scotland. The vehicle would slot between the Range Rover Sport and Evoque, giving Land Rover an answer to the Mercedes GLE and BMW X6. These shots show what appears to be a chopped roofline, giving the new model a sportier profile than the traditional upright silhouette of Rovers. We expect it will use a version of the aluminum Jaguar F-Pace platform and offer V6 and V8 engines. It could also offer a hybrid or full electric version. The new crossover might also be lower set in a bid to differentiate it from traditional Rovers and give it a performance vibe. The Range Rover Sport Coupe – or whatever it is ultimately called – would enter a strong segment that's found favor in the United States. Once derided for potentially offering less function than traditional utes, these lifestyle vehicles have developed a strong following for their style and capability. The X6 was so successful, BMW added the smaller X4, and this forced Mercedes to follow suit with the GLE and GLC coupe variants. In this context, it's about time for Land Rover to join the fray. A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.
