This is a stunning 1987 Mercedes-Benz W124 300D Turbo diesel with a 3.0L inline 6 engine and a 4 speed automatic transmission. It is in amazing condition, and the interior is very well kept. The previous owners since new had installed a set of sheep seat covers so the drive and passenger seat are literally brand new, the original carpet under the floor mats looks like they have never been touched by shoes ever. It has been repainted, and the paint job was done very well, it shows very well. It was originally a light gold colour and the PO had changed it to the silver. The body is in amazing condition with no dents or dings and no rust what so ever. It was bought new in Illinois and was then brought to Albuquerque in 1990 where it has lived ever since. Even that it does have 213k miles on the odometer it starts every time, and runs great, it drives fantastic as well. The suspension is super tight, the steering is tight, the engine runs strong and pulls hard and the transmission shifts without any issues. It was very well maintained within its life, as the carfax shows which is very clean as well. The tires are decent shape yokohamas. The A/C and heater work great, the A/C was converted to R134a in 2002. All the power windows work, the vacuum door locks work great as well. Only thing that has issues is the sunroof doesn't open evenly. And it has an aftermarket Cd player radio. But all in all a very well kept clean and good looking car that gets great fuel mileage. It does have one crack on the dashboard that can be seen in the photos. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, and the car is available to view and drive. photo _MG_0627_zpscf95de70.jpg photo _MG_0632_zps2e3147df.jpg photo _MG_0634_zpsb2e96cc3.jpg photo _MG_0636_zps630d0e35.jpg photo _MG_0637_zps15364697.jpg photo _MG_0604_zps9b1ae717.jpg photo _MG_0602_zps3601c044.jpg photo _MG_0605_zpsf8fa1e61.jpg photo _MG_0606_zps3bfa27b5.jpg photo _MG_0610_zps8d31c5d1.jpg photo _MG_0613_zps435d90c7.jpg photo _MG_0617_zpsc1b302ad.jpg photo _MG_0620_zps773d1d62.jpg photo _MG_0618_zps28eb9ae4.jpg photo _MG_0615_zpsba6bdd7e.jpg photo _MG_0612_zps3e276124.jpg photo _MG_0611_zps36f1aaee.jpg photo _MG_0623_zpseb2a3f54.jpg photo _MG_0622_zps73d5011d.jpg photo _MG_0621_zps21479a9d.jpg photo 300D_zps86a3919e.jpg photo 300D2_zps72bedad9.jpg photo 300D3_zps0c09a9de.jpg photo 300D4_zps299cd8a3.jpg photo 300D5_zpsf6e36d81.jpg photo 300D6_zps99940324.jpg

Daimler buying 12% stake in Beijing Auto

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

Daimler and Beijing Automotive are officially going steady, with the German company set to take a 12-percent stake in the Chinese brand tomorrow. The two are already tied up in a Mercedes engine plant in Beijing, of which BAIC will increase its stake in, from 50 to 51 percent. Daimler will also get two seats on the Chinese company's board. BAIC may also gain the ability to produce cars on Mercedes-Benz platforms, according to Automotive News Europe.
The investment in BAIC comes ahead of that company's initial public offering, according to a report form Bloomberg, which indicates the deal will be inked tomorrow in the Chinese capital. According to the report, if the circumstances are right, BAIC may turn around and invest in the Germany company "soon."
It's not entirely clear just how much the 12-percent cut is costing Daimler, although it seems reasonable to assume that, as it's ahead of the IPO, the parent company of Mercedes is getting a bit of a bargain.

Race Recap: 2016 European GP was a cakewalk for Rosberg

Mon, Jun 20 2016

Formula 1 teams had no setup data or tire information for the six-kilometer Baku City Circuit hosting the European Grand Prix, and that's the reason for much of the weekend's excitement. Nico Rosberg snatched pole position after Mercedes-AMG Petronas teammate Lewis Hamilton hit the wall during qualifying. When the lights went out, Rosberg put in a clinical drive way out front to score his second career grand slam: pole position, leading every lap, fastest lap, and victory. Sebastian Vettel put in a similarly lonely drive in his Ferrari to second. The German had little to do on track other than get around his teammate on Lap 28, and that came courtesy of team orders. Sergio Perez started from second on the grid, but a gearbox change after clouting the wall during Free Practice dropped him to seventh. The Mexican cut his way through the field after his sole pit stop on Lap 17 of the 51-lap race, passing Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen for third on the final lap. It's Perez's second podium in three races after finishing third in Monaco. Force India has five podium finishes in its eight-year history, and Perez's name is on four of them. Raikkonen followed in fourth. Stewards hit the Finn with a five-second penalty for crossing the pit-entry line during the race, so even if Perez hadn't passed him on track, Raikkonen would have been classified fourth. Hamilton's up-and-down weekend ended with a burst of radio messages and a whimper. He climbed from tenth on the grid to fifth in the race, then his energy recovery system began harvesting in the wrong places. The snafu cost Hamilton two seconds per lap compared to the leaders. The trouble came from a switch turned to the incorrect position, but the FIA ban on driver assistance meant Hamilton's engineer couldn't tell the driver how to fix the problem. At one point when Hamilton said he was going to reset the whole car, his engineer replied, "Um, we don't advise that, Lewis." Hamilton finally found the proper setting on Lap 43, but turned the engine down again when he realized he couldn't catch the leaders. Mercedes said that Rosberg had the same issue, but Rosberg fixed it on his own. Valtteri Bottas got his Williams across the line four seconds behind Hamilton. Red Bull teammates Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen couldn't get their tires to work, forcing both racers to pit twice before finishing seventh and eighth.

2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series [w/video]

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Now Even Sharper Than The Razor's Edge
There have been five Black Series models since the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG Black Series introduced itself to European audiences in 2006. Following that, the Black Series club has hosted appearances by the 2008 CLK63 AMG Black Series, the 2009 SL65 AMG Black Series and last year's 2013 C63 AMG Black Series. The sixth member of the group is one we would have thought already was a Black Series car in its standard guise. Right out of the box, the SLS AMG is loud, frenetic, cozy, boisterous and frightfully easy to oversteer. How much more Black did it need to get?
Quite a bit so, apparently. The SLS AMG Black Series has lost weight, gained power and been refitted with upgrades and aero bits from front to rear. If you liked the way it looked before, you'll probably be an even bigger fan of this one. If you thought it looked ungainly, well, this one should stay even further away from pageants. Regardless of where you come down this is the best SLS AMG variant we've driven.
