UPDATE ON TRANSMISSION 2/11/13
THE TRANSMISSION IS NOW WORKING AND THE CAR MOVES IN ALL GEARS. I RECIEVED A CALL TODAY FROM THE GUY THAT OWNS THE BUILDING WHERE I AM STORING IT AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD TO MOVE IT SO HE STARTED IT UP AND PUT IT INTO GEAR AND THE TRANSMISSION IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. HE SAID THAT HE RAN IT FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND MOVED IT AROUND AND THE TRANS IS STRONG WORKING AS IF NOTHING WAS EVER WRONG.
AS I STATED BEFORE AFTER 2 YEARS OF SITTING THE TRANS FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT AND WE FIGURED THE CLUTCHES OR BANDS HAD DRIED UP AND NOW AFTER SITTING FOR 2 MONTHS WITH FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HAVE REVERSED WHATEVER WAS WRONG.
THAT SAID THE SUPSENSION BEARING BRACKET STILL NEED TO BE REBUILD IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO BE DRIVABLE.
PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS BUT BY ALL MEANS IF YOU DO HAVE QUESTIONS THAT AREN'T ANSWERED BELOW OR NEED ME TO ELABORATE ON SOMETHING PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT ME.
Sorry I don't have better pics and the car hasn't been cleaned. It's sitting in an old building with poor lighting and no heat that I have limited access to. The body looks the same as in the youtube video when clean.
IF THIS DOESN'T SELL IN THIS AUCTION I WILL BE PARTING IT OUT.
Buyer will be responsible for pickup and cost of pickup.
Here is a list of parts installed new (In 2009 & 2010) unless otherwise stated since I've owned the car and approximate milage on the parts.
Please note that the car has not been run since August 2010 right after "Less Than 500 Miles" parts were installed. I quit driving it when the suspension bearing bracket ball joint went out and after sitting 2 years the trans no longer works. With a charge it does start and run good. See video below.
Cost of Parts are Approximate
Water pump 15k NEW $65
Alternator 10k NEW $85
Lower oil cooler hose (also have good used upper not installed) 5k $?
Drag Link and bushings or ball joints that went with that job. Came to like $300 with labor.
Below have less than 1k
Rear Shocks NEW
4 rotors NEW $50 Each
Brake pads all around NEW
Front brake calipers NEW $100 each.
Front wheel bearings one side or both cant remember NEW
Less than 500mi
Radiator NEW $270
Fan clutch NEW $180
Thermostat NEW $
Spare Parts
Bushings and Ball joint to rebuilt front driver side suspension bearing bracket new and still in box. Paid around $100 for the kit. Was quoted 3.5hrs for labor
Used upper oil cooler hose.
Both fuel filters, spin on and in line. NEW
Other misc parts installed throughout the time I've had it
Vacuum levelers
Odometer did not work when I bought the car. Stopped at 219K. Records that were with the car when i bought it make me believe that with the 20k on the car (80mi commute per day tracked with GPS) 240K total is close to accurate.
Known Issues
Odometer stuck at 219K
A couple of the windows don't go down. I think it was the rear drivers side and the front passenger side.
The car sat for 2 years after the suspension bearing bracket went out on it. The trans fluid all leaked out and now the car will not move. Not sure what the deal is. I was told that the clutches could have dried up because it sat empty so long. Either way the car will not move when in gear. UPDATED 2/11/13 AFTER SITTING FOR 2 MONTHS WITH THE TRANS FLUID FULL EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY
Drivers seat back will not go back. It will go forward but it won't go back anymore.
A/C does not hold a charge for more than a day.
Heat is hit or miss. It was always an adventure trying to figure out what buttons to push to get the fan to blow with heat.
Hard downshift. I think this was a vacuum issue. The trans WAS strong while I drove it. To avoid to much stress on the rest of the drive train I would shift into N before it would downshift hard and go back into drive.
Glow plugs don't stay on long but I never had a problem starting it. Usually had to turn the key on, off and back on again until the plugs were hot enough.
Some oil did leak out the front of the turbo.
Thing that holds to door in the open position is missing from the rear passenger side door. When it froze up the door was stuck wide open so I had to remove it quickly so the door interior isn't connected to the door very well and I never replaced the part.
There is some Bondo noticable in the engine compartment front passenger side. In the right light you can see that the passenger side has been painted to the back of the rear door I believe. Not sure why. Other than that for an 84 the body is in excellent condition. NO RUST!!!! The dealer I bought it from said it was last registered in Arkansas which is stated on the title. In that case it has only been driven one winter in WI.
Moon Roof does not open. Not sure if it will open from the trunk, I never tried in case it started leaking.
Posting Youtube vid here of shortly after I bought the car in 2009.
Here is a vid of the car running a month or so ago that i did for a prospective buyer.

Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG spied in Sweden
Wed, 16 Jan 2013We've spotted the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA testing a couple times in recent months in getting closer to production form and shedding camouflage, but now it looks like we're see our first look at the AMG version of this compact crossover. The low ride height might trick some into thinking that we're just seeing the already-confirmed A45 AMG out testing, but the unique beltline, rear doors and side windows confirm this is some version of the GLA-Class.
What makes us so confident that this is the AMG model? Well, for starters, this prototype has beefier brakes with cross-drilled front and rear rotors and bigger front calipers, but it also sports dual exhaust outlets poking through the rear fascia and a suspension that has been lowered considerably. Our spy shooters said that this car's exhaust note made it almost certainly an AMG model.
Just to be clear, the GLA AMG will not be powered by a 4.5-liter engine. The closely related A45 AMG will carry the "45" in its name to celebrate the first 45 years of AMG, and our sources seem to indicate the AMG version of the GLA will do the same. We're expecting this sporty crossover to produce as much as 350 horsepower from its AMG-tuned four-cylinder engine, and like the all-new E63 AMG, it could very well come standard with 4Matic all-wheel drive.
Erebus Motorsport Mercedes E-Class V8 Supercar completes the field [w/videos]
Sat, 23 Feb 2013Ford, Holden and Nissan introduced their V8 Supercar challengers a while back. Erebus Motorport, whose racing program got the green light not even 120 days ago, has finally shown off the Mercedes-Benz E-Class racer that will complete this year's field of entries. The first AMG race car ever to be built outside of Germany, it's an Australian-built tube-frame chassis specced to the series' Car of Tomorrow rules, fitted with body panels that channel the E63 AMG.
Supported by AMG Customer Motorsport, the 5.0-liter engine is provided by HWA in Germany, the racing arm of AMG. Regulations dictate that it have roughly 650 horsepower, a redline between 7,000 and 7,500 rpm and a torque curve that matches the parity baseline set for all cars.
Lee Holdsworth, Tim Slade and Maro Engel will drive the three team cars, each with different sponsors. Their first showing will be at the Clipsal 500 on March 3 in Adelaide, here in the US we'll get to see them in May at the Circuit of the Americas. Check out the videos below of the Erebus car starting up at its launch, and footage of all of this year's cars doing pre-season testing on track together.
