Now available for sale is this all original California survivor. This 76 300D was first sold new by Mercedes Benz Beverly Hills, as the original license plate frames will attest to. It is a california blue plate car. It spent almost it's entire life in Sacramento, California and has been down in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 4 years. This car is about as original as they come. The only cosmetic modification I did make was to replace the radio, as the old Becker was having issues. I put in an era correct new old stock Blaupunkt and I did install new infinity speakers in the rear, while the front still has the 2 lower original speakers which work, but sound wise are just OK compared to the new infinity speakers. The original Becker Europa II and the rear speakers that came with the car will go with this sale. The Becker radio did work when removed, although not very well and needs to be sent to Becker autostereo in New Jersey for an overhaul. About $200. Never the less,it will come with the car, as is. The car has had one re-paint in the correct original factory MBZ color of #922, pastel blue. The interior on this one is somewhat rare in that most pastel blue models got the parchment, or off white interior and this came in the dark navy blue. This is a very attractive color combo and one rarely seen. The paint still shines up nicely and looks quite nice form the curb, but upon close inspection there are numerous very little spots here and there where the paint has chipped. Most are the size of a pea. There is one long scratch, about 5 inches, on the front fender. Again, only noticeable upon very close inspection. There is no accident traces or history that I am aware of. The body, having always been here in California, is rust free. Chrome trim is in better than average shape with a few small dings on the back bumper. The hubcaps look great with no curb rash at all! The grill looks great! Inside, the Mb tex has held up well, although as one might expect, the drivers seat shows the most wear with 2 small openings on the seams of the drivers seat back. The OEM floor mats look good, but the factory carpet underneath, especially in the front, is frayed and should be replaced. However, this only becomes apparent when the royal blue floor mats are removed for cleaning. The front dash has a carpeted cover over it as it has several cracks throughout it's surface. The steering wheel has black tape over it,and why I do not know. I bought it that way. Most everything works on this car now minus the vacuum system which will need to be examined. Conseqeuntly, the central locking system is now on manual mode. All 4 power windows work, the power sunroof works very well, the heater gets extremely hot and I had the blower fixed. it now blows on 2 speeds but not on high. All outside and interior lights work, even in the trunk. The car has factory cruise control which I have never used or tested. If this is important to you, ask me and I'll try it. Speedo works fine, WORKING ODOMETER, and most gauges work. The fuel gauge is off by about 1/4 tank in accuracy and the tempreture gauge comes to life when it wants. But when it does, it is accurate. The engine is,of course, what makes this car so great. It just runs and runs and runs! It is by far the least tempermental Mercedes I have ever owned and I have had about 15. The engine has, I believe, about 214,000 miles on it, but as this is a 5 place odometer, no one really knows. A recent compression check of the engine yielded readings of 320 on 4 of the cylinders and a little over 300 on the 5th. So, the engine is in fine shape. In the past year, this car has had a new interstate battery, a new water pump, a complete recore for the original radiator, a new transmission flex plate, a rebuilt high pressure power steering hose. I installed new lower front control arms 3 weeks ago. 2 new front tires with about 4000 miles on them.New glow plugs and a valve adjustment about 1500 miles ago, if that. This is just a great little car with much life left in it. Honestly, were it not for the fact that after a year of ownership, I have grown tired of the lack of power when pulling the hills to come home, I would not even think about selling this car. But alas, as I use this as my daily driver, the lack of power when climbing a hill or merging on to the highway has left me road weary and the 280 SEL 4.5 across town that I have been eye balling will resolve this issue quite nicely, I have decided. So, reluctantly, this fine car is for sale. Please, ask any and all questions PRIOR to submitting your bid. Car sold as is, where is. I will assist with shipping but all associated costs are buyers responsibility.

Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Sun, Jul 9 2023The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.
These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky
Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).

Mercedes-Maybach GLS prototype caught testing with its big new grille
Tue, Oct 8 2019The new Mercedes-Benz GLS is a massive tech fortress on wheels, so the Maybach GLS is bound to be a massive tech castle. Last we heard from the gigantic Benz SUV was that it was going to be built at Mercedes’ Alabama plant. With a starting price expected to be around $200,000, itÂ’ll probably be the most expensive vehicle produced in the U.S. These spy shots give us an idea of what weÂ’re going to be looking at when the production SUV is finally revealed. Our first hint that this prototype is a Maybach is the grille. It looks suspiciously similar to the grille on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Concept with all the vertical slats running down the big maw. Minimal camouflage is disguising the exterior for the most part, but we imagine Mercedes is hiding any of the gaudier parts of the car itÂ’d like to save for a big reveal. The exhaust outlets sure do look a bit different than the regular GLS, but the outside is generally the same as what we see today. As for the interior, thatÂ’s where most of the magic is expected to happen. A significantly overhauled look is inevitable, with the focus on even more luxurious materials than the most expensive norm-core GLS. A rear seat that's fit for a king or two is likely, along with Maybach-exclusive tech to boot. For now, we canÂ’t see in the heavily camouflaged and taped-off windows, leaving us to wonder about the luxury within. This Mercedes-Maybach is expected to compete with other massively expensive SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga or a fully decked-out Range Rover. Everything thatÂ’s optional on the GLS should come as standard here, including the trick E-Active Body Control suspension. Look for a reveal coming in the not-so-distant future, as this prototype doesnÂ’t look terribly far from production to us.
