IF YOU ARE CHECKING OUT THIS CAR THE CHANCES ARE PRETTY GOOD THAT YOU KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THEM...

This CLASSIC auto runs & drives beautifully... If you are looking for a "One-owner/Always-Garaged" SHOW car, well this Ol' Gray Mare IS NOT that car... You will pay 6K or 8K or even 10K or more for THAT car !!... (Check them out here on EBay, they are stunningly beautiful)... Here you found my old 1982 Mercedes 300CD TURBO diesel that has been driven daily and well utilized !!... Still an exceptional 32 year old USED car with 182k miles on it... And although there is a list of upgrades and repairs yet to be done, she still DRIVES GREAT !!...I bought this car as a project car to make a cross country tour from Palm Springs CALIFORNIA to St Pete's FLORIDA because I wanted a truly reliable ride to get me there and back without worry... And I can tell you for sure that I made that 5000+ mile excursion in style with lots of thumbs up along the way... I averaged 25 MPG WITHOUT the aid of any cruise control or air conditioning... Cosmetically, upon close examination you are gonna see all the little flaws of a well USED automobile...(The further back you stand, the better she looks... lol)... The top 3 things that are not working and still need to be worked on are the A/C, the sunroof and the cruise control... There is no major body work to be done, but could use a new paint job... One picture is of the worst damage to the body on the front passenger fender, however there are more scratches and blemishes to work out... The interior is in fair shape with some break thru on the drivers seat material... I do have replacement bumpers that I have not yet installed that will go with the car along with a few other minor spare parts... The dash has been covered with a molded dash cap...

If you would like to see more pics of any specific part of the car please ask for it...

She is not real fast out of the gate... But once she warms up she glides on down the highway at 75 MPH with plenty of power... Like most 30+ year old diesels, she drips a little oil and burps a little smoke here and there... But the engine and tranny are working fine... I only have the short term records of the things that I have done with the car that have been mostly cosmetic... The tires are cheap but only about 6k miles on them... The tags are good thru September 2014... This car will make a great daily driver but really shows its worth when cruising at higher speeds...  You probably know that Mercedes built the gorgeous W123 series coupe from 1978 -1985 and only from 1982-1985 with the turbo-charged diesel engine . Only 8007 of these wonderful cars were made... This car was finished in silver grey (since been painted over) with blue interior... These well engineered W123 series cars have a long standing reputation for their reliability and are known to go for over 500k miles and still be running well... I am told this car would also be a perfect candidate for a bio diesel conversion where you could drive it on vegetable oil... Would be great to sell to a local buyer that can check everything out before buying... I do have it listed for sale locally so it is subject to sale before the end of the auction...

Come check it out and see for yourself what is new & what is old... Test drive it !!... Make an Offer !!

2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA priced from $31,300*

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

Mercedes-Benz has kindly let loose the price of the 2015 GLA-Class, telling Autoblog.com that the base 208-horsepower GLA250 in two-wheel drive will go for $31,300 *not including a destination charge of $925. That makes for $32,225 in total to get one off the lot, a price predicted as early as last year and in our recent First Drive. The other two available models can push power to all four wheels, and after the destination fee is applied the GLA240 4Matic (pictured) will be $34,225 while the 355-horsepower GLA45 AMG will change lives and wallets to the tune of $49,225.
On the base scale, that puts the GLA250 just a few hundred dollar bills above the more powerful, rear-wheel drive BMW X1 and a stack of hundreds below the less powerful, front-wheel drive Audi Q3. If you're keeping in-house score, the GLA250 comes in at $1,400 above its sedan platform-mate with the same engine, the CLA250. At the high end, however, the competition doesn't have anything that can touch the AMG trim. Not that it should matter all that much - Mercedes needed something to keep these buyers in the family, and now they have it. If any of them should need even more power and more money spent, then there's always that 394-hp Brabus flavor. We'll have more info and details on each trim when Mercedes unleashes the shebang in the not-too-distant future.

Mercedes' CEO says Google should study car use, not car building

Sat, Feb 14 2015

Google is rapidly throwing its massive weight into many facets of the auto business. Not only does the search behemoth want to take on Uber, offer car insurance quotes and run a specific version of Android on future infotainment systems, but the company is also at least toying with the idea of constructing its own completely autonomous vehicles. Such a powerful corporation entering the industry could frighten some automakers, but Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche isn't worried. The mustachioed executive doesn't believe that Google actually means to become an automaker but is instead just studying how people use cars. "Google and the likes want to get involved, I don't think in the first place to build vehicles," he told analysts, according to Reuters. Zetsche sees future collaboration with the technology giant in a quite nuanced way in that there are some things they can be partners on and other places where the two corporations might be competitors. One area where Zetsche potentially predicts an antagonistic relationship with Google regards data privacy, a concern is becoming a hot topic in the auto industry at the moment. Zetsche foresees the future of safety in Mercedes-Benz vehicles as protecting occupants not just physically but also safeguarding their personal information. "To be able to provide that, we have to keep control, and we can't do that when it is collected by Google," Zetsche said to Reuters. 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 S First Drive [w/video]

Tue, Feb 24 2015

As I mashed the throttle heading into the back straight of a nearly three-mile-long race track, I couldn't help but center my mind on two ostensibly disparate subjects: physics and pistons. If the heart of an automobile is its engine, the heart of the engine are its rotating bits – the crankshaft, pistons and the block they're nested inside. It seems fitting, then, that the internals of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 typify the brand-new 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan I found myself piloting in Portugal. Whereas the last C-Class AMG availed itself of a brute of an engine, employing 6.2 liters of displacement to make its 451 horsepower the old fashioned way, the latest AMG's V8 engine has been downsized radically. I had the opportunity earlier in the day to actually hold the pistons of the new 4.0 Biturbo V8 in my hands, alongside those of the outgoing 6.2. The difference in size is staggering, the new lumps looking downright picayune in comparison to the latter. These eight seemingly diminutive pistons turn combustion into crankshaft-spinning power inside a block that is smaller, lighter and more compact than I'd have thought possible, considering the prodigious output the engine spits out. I had gone into this assignment expecting to pen an ode to lost love; a sonnet of sorrow bemoaning the switch from massive cylinders to wheezing power adders. But I was wrong. In fact, the report that follows may indeed read a little like a love song, except it will heap praise not on what used to be, but instead on what is now possible. The new heart of AMG more than makes up for its reduction in size by relying on turbochargers and smart engineering to turn just 4.0 liters into 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque starting at just 1,750 rpm, or as much as 503 ponies and 516 lb-ft in uprated S guise. Foot to the floor, eyes focused on the turn ahead, a hard right-hander named Primeira that requires hard braking and quick reflexes, I had a fleeting moment of clarity: These are some hard-working pistons. A few days on the street and track in and around Faro, Portugal, has convinced me that the new Mercedes-AMG C63 is a better car in any meaningful measurement than it was before. And I'll go one step further. Not only is this the best C-Class AMG ever, it's also my new favorite in the hotly contested segment that includes such knee-benders as the BMW M3 and M4.
