Here is a great little baby Benz W201 chassis for you that is my personal driver, but due to my decision to downsize it needs to go to a new home. Runs flawlessly, always well maintained, runs out just about as perfect as you could ever expect. The pictures show how clean I keep my cars and how well the car shows. I get compliments on it nearly every time I drive it and people come up to me asking about it often.

I've been trained by Mercedes Benz of North America and know these cars very well. Just replaced the flex joints (both front & rear) and serviced the transmission with fluid and filter and checked for any vacuum leaks. New exhaust from the cat back and brand new quality Bridgestone Potenza all season tires with less than 100 miles INCLUDING the spare! I had the front end aligned at the time the tires were put on too.

The transmission shifts smooth and on time, the engine runs perfectly with zero issues, zero leaks, and no problems. It's Pennsylvania State inspected and emission tested and approved. The car has ZERO rust on it and never has had any rust ever.

There are absolutely no issues with dents or paint issues except the one parking lot dent pictured; (it was hard to show it on camera it's that small) it's straight as an arrow and has great shine on all panels. All the original paint except the rear body panel which was repaired many years ago as a result of a small fender bender when it was new on July 13th of 1991 but no issues at all with the repair to this day.

Mercedes text interior is in perfect condition, period. NO issues with wear and tear at all. Dash pad is perfect. Seats are perfect. Carpet is perfect. Headliner is perfect. Door panels are perfect. The only flaw is the wood around the console at the shifter is showing age; cracking but still shiny. Aftermarket Clarion head unit which works great and speakers have great sound quality.

All options work as they should except the right bucket seat... the positions work intermittently which is pointing to dirty switch contacts because all positions work (front & back, up & down, recline, headrest). I may have this looked at before the auction is over. The car runs down the road straight and true and gets great gas mileage and is an absolute pleasure to drive whether long distance or short trips, I hate to see it go but need to downsize the fleet, this economy is killing me.

If you're looking for a well cared for and pampered older European car that will give you miles of smiles then consider this car. With less than 120,000 miles on the clock there are many, many miles left in her and with proper maintenance you'll have many years of happy motoring. I drive it very little but the mileage may increase until the auction ends as I do drive it occassionally. Here in PA it's eligible for classic plates in a couple of years. This is an affordable classic that you can drive.

Mercedes-Benz previews its curvy sports-car and design future

Fri, Jan 27 2017

Suggesting creases are passe for automotive design, Mercedes showed off ideas for its future styling directions this week at a forum in Germany, including previews of upcoming sports cars and sedans. We see images of a curvy sports car study (the silver car) with huge wheel arches flared out almost like pontoons. There's also what appears to be a rear-engine hypercar (white car); we've been reading reports about it for months. Additionally, there's a red sporty saloon, as Mercedes calls it, also among the photos. It features prominent rounded fenders and a bold horizontal grille. Mercedes also previewed its upcoming A-Class, in what it calls the Aesthetics A sculpture, which looks like a car covered in a red sheet. Though Mercedes says this is its next step to a purer design, creases and strong lines are still evident on the sides. Related Video:

Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes also under diesel emissions scrutiny

Sat, Oct 10 2015

The controversy over Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal isn't limited to the US. In Europe, where diesel engines are far more popular, the issue is shining a harsh light on the NEDC emissions test. As already known, the evaluation does a poor job of reflecting real-world production of NOx, and it appears a significant number of automakers are affected. The Guardian in the UK has been reporting on real-world test results from a company called Emissions Analytics. After the latest round of checks, vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Mazda and Mitsubishi were found to generate far more NOx than they should. The newspaper also published similar results for Renault, Nissan, Hyundai, Fiat, Volvo, Jeep, Citroen, VW, and Audi. On average, the figures are about four times over the limit of producing the pollutant. Unlike VW and its defeat device, these automakers aren't actually breaking the rules. The vehicles perform up to the NEDC lab test for emissions, but those results simply aren't translated to the street. "The VW issue in the US was purely the trigger which threw light on a slightly different problem in the EU - widespread legal over-emissions," Nick Molden from Emissions Analytics said to The Guardian. A big fight to decide the future of this issue appears to be on the horizon. Automakers claim that they can't meet the next round of tightening emissions regulations and are asking for compromises. Although, spokespeople for Mercedes and Honda told The Guardian that the brands would be in favor of the stricter rules. Meanwhile, some European governments began backtracking their support of diesels well before this scandal came to light. The added scrutiny certain hasn't helped the future of the oil-burner. Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.
