Offerring my MERCEDES 190SL CONVERTIBLE 1962 for Auction;

Matching number, Beige color painted in beginning 2003 with no rust, Black factory Leather interior original with some repairs done to the bottom sections of the seats, showing some patina. Can use some refreshing, staining and Leather conditioning to bring back to higher level of Patina. The carpet were never replaced with factory square weave as it deserved, so this will need to be added.
Underbody was painted original 190SL color and is in very solid and good condition, also no rust. Bumpers, top door trims and grille chromes were redone and other chrome parts are in very good to decent condition. Soft top was replaced with a Black Canvas factory correct replacement that closes very well and tight.
Engine Bay and trunk area is very clean and need very little detailing to make it to higher level, if desired.
The car starts well with no smoke and I was told it was never opened and as original 81,954 miles.
brake and clutch cylinders will need to be rebuilt eventually, yet I have been driving the car for Sunday runs the past year and had to re-top brake fluid once with no issues. It still has the Original Solex carburators and a rebuild and cleaning should also be considered, yet the car runs well as it is with a even RPM at idle.
As the original radio and the rare speakers console that does not work at this time ( did not have time to investigate why) The glove compartment clock runs and keeps time as long you keep winding it regularly.

More pictures available upon request!

Bought it from a family that owned the car since 1965, which was bought from the initial owner, technically I am the 3rd owner.
Car was driven until the end of the 70's, then put in storage until they pulled it out for restoration about 1999. As they told me, the body was entirely redone professionally and painted the same color it was when they bought it. They decided to keep the Black Leather interior original and spent no money to improve it. the car was then in storage from about 2005 till mid 2011 when I brought it out of storage.

NOTE: that I am selling this car AS IS with NO KIND OF WARRANTY as it is described and shown in the EBAY Auction. You are welcome to come and see and inspect the car upon appointment making initial contact via Ebay mail.
A $2000 INITIAL DEPOSIT NO LATER THEN 24 hours AFTER THE CLOSE OF THIS AUCTION will be due and can be paid PAYPAL while understanding that this DEPOSIT IS NON-REFUNDABLE what ever the circumstances are.
BALANCE DUE no later then 7 DAYS FROM THE END OF THIS AUCTION, either CASH, CHECK or WIRE TRANSFER. WILL NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL FOR this portion of the transaction. The car will not be shipping until the complete amount is PAID AND CLEARED in my ACCOUNT.
The Seller will assist the BUYER to the best of his ability for the Pick Up and Shipping. ALL SHIPPING COST WILL BE THE BUYER RESPONSIBILITY.

GOOD LUCK BIDDING!

Mercedes Digital Light puts a light show on the road

Fri, Mar 9 2018

Soon full-featured heads up displays, augmented reality, and intelligent lighting will all work together to provide drivers with the safest and most complete picture of the road ahead. Until then, it's one advance at a time, the latest being Digital Light for Mercedes-Maybach customers. Stuttgart engineers designed a small LED with more than a million micro-reflectors for each headlight. Hardware and software control the light pattern, and paint at least nine different graphics on the road in light to warn of safety issues ahead. Digital Light evolved from the intelligent headlights demonstrated on the Mercedes Experimental Safety Vehicle in 2009 — the same ESF2009 that previewed rear belt-bag inflating seatbelts. Back then, the main beams were composed of 100 LEDs, and a brain controlled each LED to create a specific and occasionally complex lighting pattern. The new Digital Light works with all the cameras, sensors, and navigation information employed by an S-Class, and has increased resolution 10,000-fold to roughly HD quality, with a commensurate rise in the complexity of available patterns and representations. Mercedes cites numerous benefits, one being a "virtually dazzle-free main beam," another being high beams that can selectively darken so as not to blind oncoming traffic or pedestrians. Some of the projected symbols include guide lines on the road representing the width of the sedan when navigating a narrow construction zone, an arrow pointing to a pedestrian either in or very near the road, a snowflake when the temperature drops below freezing, and a chevron placed on the center line or shoulder to warn a driver when he's leaving his lane or when there's someone in his blind spot. Digital Light will first go into service with selective fleet customers for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class this year. Considering the state of current U.S. auto regulations, we wouldn't expect to see it here for a number of years. Why we can't have better headlights here in the U.S.

Tue, Mar 13 2018

It wouldn't be a European auto show if we weren't teased with at least one mainstream vehicle we can't have here. At the Geneva Motor Show last week, the small but vocal contingent of shooting-brake buffs lamented that the Mazda6 wagon won't be coming to our shores, although they can take comfort in the fact that the vehicle won't get the torquey 250-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine we'll get here. Mercedes-Benz also announced a new headlight technology in Geneva that likely won't be available here anytime soon. It's just the latest in a long line of innovative and potentially lifesaving front-lighting solutions that the federal government doesn't allow in this country due to outdated standards — and a current lack of leadership at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mercedes-Benz's new Digital Light system that debuted in Geneva uses a computer chip to activate more than a million micro-reflectors to better illuminate the road ahead. The Digital Light headlamps works with the vehicle's cameras, sensors and navigation mapping to adjust lighting for the given location and situation and to detect other road users. The Digital Light technology also serves as an extended head-up display of sorts by projecting symbols on the pavement ahead to alert drivers to, say, slippery conditions or pedestrians in the road. And it can even project lines on the road in a construction zone or through tight curves to show the driver the correct path. Digital Light will be available on Mercedes-Maybach vehicles later this year, although like any technology it's bound to trickle down to less expensive vehicles. That is, if we ever get it here in the U.S. Audi, a leader in automotive lighting, has repeatedly run into snags trying to bring state-of-the-art car headlights to the U.S. The German luxury automaker's recently introduced matrix laser headlight system, which performs many of the same trick as Mercedes-Benz's Digital Light, also isn't legal on U.S. roads. And five years after the introduction of its matrix-beam LED lighting, which illuminates more of the road without blinding oncoming motorists with brights by simultaneously operating high and low beams, Audi still can't bring that technology to the U.S. either.
