I am the second owner of this car. Purchased from the original owner 3 years ago. The original owner had this car as a second car and drove it only sparingly (as have I). I purchased it with 40k miles and have put an additional 4k+ miles on it. Always garaged and kept under a cover. Original owner kept all documents and books from the original sale of the car as new. I have manuals, extensive documentation, brochures, warranty pamphlet, two original keys, and even a binder with some Rotary Rocket Magazines from back in the day. Original owner claims that the car never needed any service or repairs beyond oil changes (which he did himself). Since owning the car, I have had some typical type repair work done. New brake shoes in the rear, new Brake master cylinder, New clutch master and slave cylinders. New battery, air filter and fuel filter. The car is in need of NOTHING now. Everything works as it should (except the power antenna) and the car starts, drives and performs as good as new. No smoking, no leaks no funny noises. All lighting is in working order as is the clock. The AC blows ice cold. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere or any distance. I always keep my vehicles in top running and top cosmetic condition.

The paint on the exterior is Formula White. The paint looks so nice that I find it hard to believe that the paint is original but the original owner claimed that it is. He said the front passenger fender was dinged at some point and repainted but you sure can't tell it. Must have been done correctly. The paint and all exterior items are in EXCEPTIONAL condition. Everything shines. No rust, no dents, nothing. If you get in the right light you can see a few extremely minor door dings in passenger door but they are so minor that they wont show up in photos. All glass, rubber, plastic etc is in immaculate condition. The underside and engine bay were rust-proofed when new and show ZERO signs of any rust.
The wheels look new. The tires are Yokohamas and are in great condition. Appear to have at least 75% tread remaining.

The interior is also in immaculate condition. Every last bit of trim and carpet is as good as new. I purchased the $500 set of dark brown authentic sheepskins, which you can see in the photos, to keep the seats nice. I also had two super thick, dark brown floor mats and a huge rear mat which covers the entire back half of the interior, custom made. They look awesome. There are no cracks in the dash. No loose interior pieces. No trim coming loose. Nothing. Its perfect.

The original owner put an aftermarket, high end stereo in the car when new but was unable to locate the original radio for me. I had the unit he installed professionally removed and had $1500 worth of Alpine and JL audio equipment installed. The Alpine is an AM/FM/XM, cd and has an iPod plug. I had them install a powered FM antenna which is in the glove box. The antenna doesn't work well while stuffed in the glove box but I didn't want to mount it anywhere. They removed the original boxes mounted behind the seats (which I still have) and replaced them with the JL audio mids and Amp. The front speakers were replaced with JL speakers and the original grills were put back on. There is a removable JL sub in a brown carpeted box in the rear hatch area. Everything was done professionally and looks fantastic. The sound system will not disappoint. All components can be removed and easily replaced with original equipment if so desired.

This car has ALWAYS been pampered. The new owner will not be disappointed. I don't sell much on ebay but check my feedback comments. I have sold a few of my vehicles over the years on ebay and the feedback has always been great. This is a really nice car.

Prices on ebay for these cars seem to be all over the place. They seem to range from $5000.00 to $8000.00 for the nicer ones. My reserve price falls somewhere in the middle. Please do NOT email me asking for my exact reserve price.

If you have any questions please email me. I can easily provide additional pictures or information if requested. If you are in the Nashville area and would like to come check out the car just let me know...I'd be happy to show it to you.

Evo pits Toyota GT86 vs. Mazda MX-5 Miata

Tue, Sep 8 2015

The latest Deadly Rivals episode from Evo gets the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Toyota GT86 (our Scion FR-S) on track for a shakedown and a whole lot of drifting with Dan Prosser behind the wheel. The UK-spec coupes have slightly different power ratings than ours, but it's all close enough to be comparable. Their Miata has 158 horsepower (ours has 155), 148 pound-feet of torque, takes 7.3 seconds to run from naught to 60 62, and costs 22,695 pounds. The GT86, on the other hand, lists a 7.6-second dash to 60 62, and a base price of 25,000 pounds. The GT86 also weighs 400 pounds more than the Mazda. That's true in the States, too – curb weight for our MX-5 is 2,332 pounds, whereas the Scion FR-S comes in at 2,758 pounds. Both cars lauded for excellent shifting, but one of them has a better front end, a sweeter engine note, more controllable cornering behavior, and is faster by a tenth of a second around the test track. And Prosser doesn't mention it, but one has a lot more body roll. But it takes more than all that to make a winner, so check out the video above to see which is which. Mazda rumored to bring rotary-powered RX-9 concept to Tokyo

Fri, Oct 16 2015

Stop us if you've heard this one before: Mazda will bring a rotary-powered sports car to the next big auto show. Okay, so we stopped for a second, but the show must go on. Following an official teaser image (shown above) late last month, Motoring.com.au has what it claims are renderings of the curvy, two-door coupe – called the RX-9 – that Mazda will bring to the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. The images show a far softer styling than Mazda's current crop of Kodo-inspired vehicles, while the overall look screams of a modern-day Cosmo Sport, the Japanese brand's first rotary-powered vehicle. And though that connection alone might be enough to justify whisperings of a successor to the RX-7 and RX-8, Motoring claims there will be an even more overt sign of this concept's power source. "Look to the Cosmo Sport," an inside source told the Aussie website, signaling that the Mazda stand would feature the vintage two-door. "The Cosmo has no earthly reason for being there unless..." The rotary rumor, if it comes true, won't exactly be what we're use to. While Motoring brings up the previously reported 16X – a 1.6-liter two-rotor – it builds on our 2013 report. According to the Aussies, the new engine could feature a two-stage electric turbocharger, be paired with a hybrid powertrain, offer up to 450 horsepower, and we're guessing, be hilariously complicated. Joking aside, it sounds like Mazda's goals here are admirable. A rotary-equipped sports car that could counter the 1.3-liter RX-8 engine's appetite for fuel and improve on its mediocre low and mid-range torque would be interesting indeed. As for those renderings, Motoring has front and rear three-quarter images. Comparing the rear with our original teaser leaves the look open to interpretation, but after seriously upping the exposure on the teaser (thanks Photoshop), the taillights and overall profile shape look to be a spot-on match. In front, the long hood shares some Kodo elements, like the headlights and grille, but its undeniable coupe shape – a long hood and very short deck – are far more organic and, dare we say, calm, than Mazda's other vehicles. You can take a closer look at the renderings over at Motoring's website. Do that, and then head back and let us know what you think of these RX-9 rumors. Is Mazda finally going to be bringing a rotary back to market?

Mazda recalls 109k Tribute models for rust issue

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

The Mazda Tribute is being hit with a similar recall as its platform-mate the Ford Escape underwent a few weeks ago. Mazda is recalling 109,000 Tributes from model years 2001 to 2004. On the trucks, the subframe can rust from road salt, potentially causing the lower control arm to detach. If this happens, a loss of steering control could occur.
Mazda is adding a reinforcement crossbrace for added strength on the affected models. The recall covers Tributes currently registered in or originally sold in 20 northern states and Washington, DC, where road salt is used.
The reinforcement braces aren't available yet to do the repair. Mazda will send a letter in May to owners of affected vehicles that will inform them of the problem, and a second letter telling them when the parts will be ready. Scroll down to read the full recall press release.
