Mazda Rx-7 Not Running on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
$1000 cash or possible trade for good running minivan/pickup/sub-compact station wagon.
Too much going on, so won't have a chance to repair it in the near future. I'd rather find it a good home, but if I don't get what I want for it, it will just have to sit a while longer until I can get to it. The good: Clean/clear title. Very straight and complete car. Never wrecked. No rust. West coast, desert car. All glass good w/light factory tint. Factory electric sunroof. Factory alarm system. Behind the seats dual locking storage compartments. Factory GTU body/suspension treatment w/full aerodynamics package intact. 5 lug wheels with 135mph rated rubber. 4 wheel disk brakes. Newer pale yellow paint. (wife didn't like original red color.) Nose bra to protect front end. Interior could use some TLC, but pretty good for age of car. (some minor cracked/missing plastic parts and small rip in driver's seat.) Dash has a custom fit cover that was on when I bought the car, so I don't know the condition of the dash. 4 spd overdrive automatic transmission has lock out button that holds it in gear letting the driver control shifts. The bad: Told engine ate its seals. Spins, but won't start. May be as simple as no spark, fuel mixture, etc, but selling as blown engine, as that is the worst case scenario and I don't want anyone buying it thinking it will be a cheap and simple fix. If it turns out to be something simple, great for you, You've gotten it for less than 1/4 its running value. Repair/rebuild/replace the power train and have a great handling 2 seat exotic car for a small price. When running, this is a 30+mpg car at highway speeds that can out handle about anything made, but with good manners when being driven around town. It passed smog testing with no problems when it was last running, so all smog equipment is present. The battery is shot from sitting for almost a year. No warranty implied. As is where is. I have tried to describe its condition as completely as possible. Cash price is firm! Trade is negotiable depending on vehicle offered. (An even trade is possible, but I am not interested if you expect to get my car plus cash.) I will not ship, but will assist in loading if you supply transport. Must be paid in full before car, or title will be released. Cash at time of pick up, and/or signed title and other vehicle if a trade. Contact Dave at 702-290-2501 with any questions. Car is available for inspection. Located on Carey Ave. by Lamb Blvd. Northeast Las Vegas. I can take and email pictures of specific areas if needed. (Except the undersides as it sits too low for me to get under.) |

Toyota and Mazda set to expand partnership
Mon, May 11 2015Toyota and Mazda are already teaming up for the Scion iA and Mazda2, but that partnership might just be the beginning. Reuters reports the two Japanese companies could expand their work together, with Toyota chipping in its experience with both fuel cells and plug-in-hybrid tech, and Mazda contributing its know-how in regards to its Skyactiv line of engines. The report cites a pair of unnamed sources that are "not authorized to discuss the matter publicly." The move, on the surface, is certainly appealing for both parties. Mazda has very little experience with hybrids (remember the Ford-rebadged Tribute Hybrid?), let alone something as advanced as a fuel-cell vehicle. Teaming with Toyota, arguably the world's greatest hybrid manufacturer, would give it a serious leg up. For the Japanese giant, meanwhile, a partnership with Mazda could expand the economy of scale for the Mirai FCV's tech, while Skyactiv engines would do well in replacing the base engines in cars like the Corolla, Camry, and RAV4. What are your thoughts? Would an expanded partnership between Toyota and Mazda make sense? Can you think of any drawbacks? Have your say in Comments. Japan plans real-world diesel emissions test after companies fail
Fri, Mar 4 2016Japan's transport ministry plans to start real-world diesel emissions tests after an experiment found four models from Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi that produced more nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions than the nation's rules allow, according to The Japan Times. Regulators there usually only perform emissions checks in the lab. The VW diesel scandal has everyone double-checking their figures. Diesel versions of the Toyota Hiace van, Land Cruiser Prado, and Nissan X-Trail produced up to 10 times more NOx than allowed. The Mitsubishi Delica D:5 was up to five times over the limit, The Wall Street Journal reports. There was no evidence of defeat devices in the vehicles. Mazda performed well in the experiment, though. The CX-5 passed with nearly the same results on the road and in the lab. The Demio, better known as the Mazda2, did nearly as well with only slighter higher figures in the real world than in the controlled setting. The experimenters theorized the reason for the excessive emissions was that cold weather caused the engines' software to shut off the exhaust gas recirculation to prevent damage, according to the WSJ. However, this behavior also increased NOx production. Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi don't have to worry about punishment from the transport ministry because this check was just an experiment. Their models already passed the mandated lab tests, which was the only requirement, according to The Japan Times. As governments begin greater real-world emissions tests, the results suggests diesels aren't very clean. A recent check in France found models from Ford, Renault, and Mercedes-Benz that didn't perform up to the standards. Regulators in India conducted similar evaluations and ordered VW to recall over 300,000 vehicles. Related Video:
2014 Mazda6 recalled due to fuel overfill fire risk
Fri, 02 May 2014Mazda is recalling 19,000 Mazda6 sedans from model year 2014, over concerns that the fuel tanks can be filled up too much. What is it with Mazda and fuel tanks?
The big concern is, obviously, spillage when filling up. There's also a risk that a radical temperature swing could cause the fuel volume to expand, causing a full tank to spill over without the driver knowing about it. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, if the fuel spills over, it could end up in something called the charcoal canister, which helps with the car's emissions. If it fills up the canister, it could leak out onto the road. None of this is really desirable.
The affected vehicles were all built between October 25, 2012 and May 9, 2013. It's unclear if there have been any fires due to this problem. Dealers should have been notified by now, while owners should begin receiving official recall notifications very soon.
