For sale is my beautiful and extremely rare Brilliant Black 1994 Mazda RX-7 FD R2 model. There were only 83 of this year and this specific model imported to the United States from Japan in 1994. I had recently purchased it from Jonathan @ EccentricPerformance ( a very reputable rotary shop and dealer) in North Carolina with the intentions of keeping it for a very long time, but I can no longer afford it as my life is moving in a different direction. The car is in EXCELLENT condition for a 20 year old car mechanically and exterior/interior wise. THE CAR HAS A CLEAN TITLE. NO ACCIDENTS EVER! There are a few blemishes in the pain especially on the front end from rocks over the years, but nothing to suggest anything too serious. The car has very low miles with only 119,032 on the frame and roughly 7000 on the rebuilt street ported motor and clutch/flywheel. I dont have proof but Jonathan @ EccentricPerformance can be contacted if need be to verify that information. The car has no known leaks and runs very smooth with no check engine lights or anything. Car has been serviced every 3000 miles and is about to be serviced again

The car has very few mods for reliability and has been treated with nothing but care by the previous owner and myself a list below:

AUTHENTIC 18' Rays engeneering ( VOLK RE30 Rims) with tires with decent tread
3' downpipe with an Apexi catback exhaust
Koyo aftermarket Radiatior for the best and most reliable cooling
Aftermarket stage 1 clutch
The car was tuned with an Apexi PFC ECU on it.
Mazdaspeed short shifter and shift knob
FULL Mazdaspeed Body kit with wing
99' spec tail lights and fog lights in the front bumper

Interior/Sound
R2 model Suade interior seats
Alpine headunit
Infinity Speakers all the way around

THE ONLY DOWNFALL IS THE AC UNIT WAS REMOVED for performance purposes. Heat is perfect. And it may need a new battery soon

2014 Mazda3 configurator zoom-zooms to life

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

The 2014 Mazda3 is probably going to be on a lot of shopping lists, thanks to its striking good looks, clean interior treatment, fuel economy and driving character. If it happens to be on your personal list of new cars to test, you'll be happy to see that the configurator for Mazda's newest product has officially gone online.
In terms of build-your-own web items, configuring a 3 isn't much of a departure from the rest of the Mazda range. Most of the work comes from choosing one of the three trim levels - Sport, Touring and Grand Touring - and selecting either the 155-horsepower, 2.0-liter, Skyactiv four-cylinder or its larger sibling, the 184-horsepower, 2.5-liter, Skyactiv four. From there, a simple range of color and interior finishes are available, before a slim list of packages, options and accessories. Really, Mazda's made it easy to get through this build process.
Click on over to the configurator and take a look at the options, colors and prices for Mazda's newest five-door hatchback.

Mazda CEO says rotary not viable, so don't look for a new one

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

We have some very sad news to report, rotor-heads fans: Don't expect a new rotary-powered vehicle anytime soon. This comes straight from Masamichi Kogai, the CEO of Mazda, which is the only company to ever market a commercially successful rotary-powered automobile in the world. The issue, as it has pretty much always been, is environmental.
While the Wankel rotary engine does indeed make a lot of power in a small, lightweight package, it does so while burning lots of fuel and emitting lots of noxious gases into the atmosphere, at least when running on gasoline. And that means the rotary engine will likely only ever be able to power niche vehicles. And that, in turn, means that it is very difficult to turn a profit on vehicles with rotary engines, particularly for a small automaker like Mazda.
"It has to be a viable commercial proposition. If we are going to adopt it, it has to be a product that can generate at least sales of 100,000 units a year. We have to be able to achieve a profit," said Kogai in an interview with Automotive News. Mazda sold 56,203 RX-7 models in the United States (the automaker's biggest market) in 1986. Sales of the RX-8 peaked in 2004, its first full year on the market, with just 23,690 units.

Xcar tries to figure out what makes the Miata so great

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

Over the past 25 years and 3 model generations, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has shown that you don't have to be the best to be a massive success. The little, Japanese roadster has never been the absolute peak of automotive performance, but it's precise handling, good reliability and frugal running costs have helped make it a star. Autoblog recently tried to give you the experience of driving one on video, and now Xcar Films has made its own in an attempt to show what makes this droptop an icon.
As Xcar puts it, the Miata isn't the world's best sports car, but it is the world's favorite. When they were originally designing the roadster, Mazda's engineers took everything that made British droptops from the '60s great, and junked all of the stuff that made them a terror to own. The result was a car that would start up everyday with no fuss and get drivers wherever they needed to go with a huge grin on their face.
The fourth-generation Miata is imminently on the way for its September 3 unveiling, and the very early rumors indicate that Mazda doesn't plan to rock the boat too much with the latest one. It supposedly rides on a longer wheelbase and wider track but with the weight trimmed by over 200 pounds. Check out Xcar's video for a primer on MX-5 history and why the automotive world loves this little roadster.
