1993 Silver Touring, Only 44k Original Miles, No Reserve! on 2040-cars
San Mateo, California, United States
This 1993 Silver RX-7 FD with only 44k Original Miles is very hard to find. It is part of my car collection, but due to a new business start-up, I have to let it go. The Engine is in great condition, no leaks and has never been Re-built! It has a few performance/reliability upgrades listed below. The paint is Original, never re-painted. It is very difficult to find Silver with only 44k Original Miles at this listing price! It has a few normal chips from normal wear. The front bumper has a corner paint that peeled. This was an issue for the RX-7. I was going to convert it to a '99spec bumper front-end, so I left it as is and have not got the chance to get it done. If I were to re-paint the bumper, I would list the price much higher! Exterior Features: Original Silver Paint Authentic18" BBS RGR Diamond Black (No Curb Rash) with Pirelli Tires (less than 500miles) Apexi N1 Damper Coilovers Engine Upgrades: Stock Engine, Not Re-built HKS Super Mega Flow Reloaded Intake (CARB Exempt) with K&N Filters (Original HKS filters will be included) Koyorad Radiator Greddy Front Mount Intercooler 1300cc Secondary Injectors Apexi Power FC (Original ECU included) Stock Pre-Cat is installed (3" Downpipe Included) Apexi N1 Dual Exhaust Interior: All Original Black Leather, Great Condition Original Carpets/Mats, No wear at all! Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

Mazda3 diesel under consideration for US, hybrid not so much
Thu, 27 Jun 2013It's been a long time coming, but we finally clapped our eyes on the real deal, officially official 2014 Mazda3 in hatchback form yesterday. Yet there's a lot more to learn about this next-generation version of what has always been one of our favorite compacts. We know that the US version will come with one of two Skyactiv engines, but what about alternatives? Will there be any... or will the gasoline-fed four-cylinders be powerful and frugal enough to carry the day?
According to Automotive News, the answer is a definite maybe. Mazda North America CEO Jim O'Sullivan has told the trade publication that his employer will consider adding the company's well-liked 2.2-liter Skyactiv diesel powerplant to the model down the road. However, the company first wants to see how the engine fares with American consumers in its big-brother Mazda6 sedan, a model that goes on sale later this year. As for a potential Mazdaspeed3 successor, mum is still the word.
Anything else? Uncharacteristically, Mazda will build a hybrid model of its new 3. We say "uncharacteristically," because the Japanese independent has long shied away from gas-electric powertrain tech. In fact, it's gone so far as to boldly announce its aversion to the technology, with auto show banners proclaiming "Not Electric. Not Hybrid. Not A Drag To Drive." Despite all that, this new generation of Mazda3 will in fact be the company's first full hybrid production model. According to AN, however, O'Sullivan says that the company has "no plans" to sell it in the US.
Road & Track to take Miata on million-mile march
Sat, 11 Jan 2014Road & Track has taken on a Miata project. One hell of a project, if we're honest. You see, the Miata in question, a 1989 example in Mariner Blue, isn't a high-mileage Mazda that the publication intends to fix up, or make race-worthy, or try to flip or give away to a reader or something. No, it's a rather typical well-used NA, with a hefty 325,000 miles on the clock to-date that the staff plans on driving until the six-digit odo reads all zeros again. One million miles or bust (or both, most likely).
Procured for the bargain-basement price of $1,600, complete with seat covers that "really do look like muppet pelts" (according to Zach Bowman) and a bondo-filled love tap on the nose, the NA Miata actually looks like just the sort of fun-machine that a real driving enthusiast would pick up to get some cheap thrills in. The R&T team already has some interesting plans for the Miata, including a potential run up Pikes Peak and loaning it out to readers (or perhaps your author...). Click through to read all about it.
