1993 Mazda Rx7, Florida Car, Lots Of Upgrades on 2040-cars
Naples, Florida, United States
I bought this car for my mid life crisis car to replace the 1993 Rx7 I had back when they were new.
This car is fun to drive but my being older means it kills my back getting in and out of the car and I can't get comfortable, so I will stick to my antique cars for my mid life crisis instead . Some things just are not as much fun the second time around ( like marrying your ex wife again ) and put this up for sale. 1993 Mazda Rx7. In the past year the following have been done; 1. tune up- new platinum plugs, new wires, new coil packs 2. New front and rear cross drilled and slotted brake rotors and pads 3. New Optima battery relocated to the bin behind the driver's seat 4. New aluminum race quality heavy duty radiator + twin fans 5. New aluminum race quality large turbo intercooler 6. New silicone cooling and vacuum hoses 7. New aluminum race quality coolant air tank 8. New APEXi air intake system 9. complete flush and fill of all lubricants and replacing with synthetic fluids 10. New 145 degree thermostat and gasket and water pump 11. New belts 12. New rear strut bar 13. New struts 14. New turn signal / drive lamp assemblies The following need attention: 1. Fuel filler door pops open ( have it temporarily stuck closed so it doesn't open when driving ) and it works as is but it is not a permanent fix 2. Prior owner was in the middle of changing the interior from tan to black, so the carpets, headliner , and back bins are still tan ( which you can leave or change to black to match the rest if you like ). I just left it since it didn't bother me. 3. Odometer just blinked out 2 weeks ago, was at approx. 85,500 - I just bought a replacement dash cluster with a working odo if you want to replace it- it is included 4. black plastic on some inside surfaces such as doors and console needs to be refinished, covered or painted- 5. there are some very minor parking lot dings on the body ( see pictures ) Prior owner did the following. 1. new sound system with amp, head, speakers etc 2. 17 inch rims with matched set of ZR rated Cooper tires - still at least 50 % left 3. they tinted the windows which helps here in Florida 4. upgraded tail light assemblies 5. front air splitter 6. a pillar gauges Since this is now a 21 year old used car, it is sold as is, where is, with no warranties. Wow, 21 years - now I feel even older. Email if you want to see or drive the car |

Petrolicious lets a 1971 Mazda RX-2 howl
Fri, Jan 15 2016Rotary engines scream to the heavens in the best way possible. To hear a wonderful example of the Wankel's battle cry, turn up your speakers and watch Petrolicious highlight an immaculately clean 1971 Mazda RX-2 in Australia. Owner Jason Humble took three years to build his RX-2 from a bare shell, and he started competing with it in vintage racing in 2005. The little coupe's class pits it on track against Mustangs and Camaros, but Humble claims that he's regularly near the top of the pack thanks to the Mazda's communicative chassis. We don't get to see the RX-2 mixing things up on track in the Petrolicious video, but Humble does treat us to a drive through the Australian countryside. He's happy to let the coupe's rotary rev, and the little engine is capable of making a wonderful noise. It's great to see Petrolicious continue to give the spotlight to these sometimes overlooked classic Japanese sports cars.
WAVE 2015: Metron 7 sets new record of 513 miles on one charge
Tue, Jun 16 2015Sometimes you just gotta push harder, faster, longer. Last fall, the Metron Institute team from Slovenia took their converted all-electric Mazda5 minivan on an impressive 457-mile journey from Bled (in Sloveniva) to Dubrovnik (in Croatia) without stopping to recharge at an average speed of 40 miles an hour. Today, as part of the WAVE Trophy 2015, the Metron 7 EV just finished up a drive of 826.1 kilometers (513.3 miles) on a single charge. The drive started in Berlin and ended in Karlsruhe, Germany. As you might suspect, a drive of this length on normal roads required a big battery pack. The total pack capacity was 108 kWh, thanks to the combination of the built-in 86-kWh pack that uses lithium polymer cells from Kokam and a 130-pound, 22-kWh external pack that Metron has developed that can charge the built-in pack while driving. The average speed of the 500-mile journey was 45 miles per hour (72 kilometers per hour) through rural countryside, towns, and some time on the highway. The drivers –Andrej and Jasna Pecjak – did not use air conditioning, but the fans were running. The weather was temperate enough that AC wasn't needed anyway these last two days. The Metron 7 was a part of the last two WAVE events and has been updated since the last record was set in October 2014. On the new record journey, the minivan was loaded up with gear, but the Metron engineers made improvements to the car in the last eight months: the side mirrors are smaller and they fitted a better aerodynamic cover underneath the vehicle, for example. Andrej said that the cost for the batteries was around $50,000, since some of the cells he got were used. Today's record is unofficial, but AutoblogGreen witnessed both the sealing of the charge port in Berlin and was in the car for the last 125 kilometers today. Mazda books first yearly profit in half-decade, NA still a drag
Tue, 30 Apr 2013Automotive News reports Mazda has posted its first annual profit in five years. The company made $364.3 million in the last fiscal year, following a $1.14 billion loss the year prior. Operating profit also jumped up by $91.3 million to $572.8 million, thanks in part to a revenue increase of 8 percent to $23.42 billion.
But the news isn't all rays of sunshine. North America continues to be a problem for Mazda where the automaker posted yet another loss. The manufacturer lost $519.1 million last year, up from $427.8 million the year prior. While the launch of the CX-5 helped see US sales increase by 2 percent to 273,000 vehicles, the region as a whole bought up 372,000 units. Mazda had predicted closer to 380,000 units.
Even so, Mazda says it should have North America back in the black by next year, with the company forecasting a sales increase of 11 percent to 415,000 units in the region. That's thanks in part to a boost from the redesigned Mazda6 sedan.
