Runs and drives really well. Repainted with original color in 2011 due to fading of original paint, and all new decals/emblems. No wrecks or rust . Garage kept since I have had it. Interior in good condition. All original Mazda except upgraded stereo and speakers. Only issues I know of are a slow freon leak I can not find. I added freon in the spring, and then the air conditioner worked fine. The passenger side window power window is "slow." I don't use it so it's never been an issue. There is a small tear and slight wear on the side of the driver's seat that you can see in the photos. I've driven the car daily for the last two years to work. My "old" back doesn't appreciate having to get "down" into a car anymore, and it hates trying to get back out even more. So, my nice toy needs a new home. If you buy this "sweet survivor" you won't be disappointed."

I bought this car 3 years ago.  I had an RX7 back in the 80's and was feeling nostalgic.

The GSL-SE was the best, but I couldn't afford that trim level back then.
I wanted to restore this one as closely to new as I could.
I had the car painted and replaced all the emblems with new.  I replaced any plastic on the doors that didn't look good with new Mazda parts.
I replaced the window channels and door seals.
The radiator, clutch and drive shaft are all new.
New shocks and struts.
I put on new  tires and they still have good tread.
These cars have a tendency to "flood" gas and being a hard start if left sitting without starting for an extended time.  I installed a fuel pump cut off switch to solve this problem.
As I mentioned before, it has a slow freon leak that I can not find.  The air conditioner does work when charged.
I would trust it driving cross country if necessary.

I will not arrange for shipping or delivery of the vehicle.  You will have to make arrangements to either pick up or arrange shipping of the car,

Mazda's awesome Hiroshima museum now navigable by Google Maps

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Visiting an auto museum is one of the best ways we know to connect with car culture and to commune with the past and bone up on one's knowledge. Most of us have a decent museum within a few hours drive of where we live, but that doesn't mean it's easy to see the world's great collections - factors like cost, time and mobility can get in the way. Videos are great, but they don't allow us to browse at our own pace or choose what we'd like to focus on. The folks behind Google Maps have a solution - the virtual museum tour, as seen here at Mazda's fantastic museum in Hiroshima, Japan.
The Google Maps tour allows viewers to take a walk through the main exhibition area of the museum, and you can focus on specific classic cars from Mazda, or check out displays featuring new technologies like Skyactiv. To take a quick spin through the museum - or a leisurely stroll at your own pace - scroll down to start your own virtual tour.

Dealers think Mazda's new Mexico plant will increase Mazda3 sales by 20%

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

Mazda3 sales in the US were down about 15 percent last year to a total of 104,713 units. According to a report from Automotive News, though, the slowdown in sales has been due more to production constraints than demand.
Good news for Mazda dealers, then, that a new plant in Salamanca, Mexico has just come online. Tom Carey, chairman of Mazda's national dealer council, told AN, "We're going to be in good shape because of that Mexico inventory." If estimates prove accurate, sales of the Mazda3 will increase by about 20 percent when the new plant begins production this month.
If those lofty projections come to pass, Mazda will reportedly be on track to exceed 300,000 total sales in the US in 2014, which would represent the brand's highest figures since its 375,000-unit peak in 1994. The brand hopes to sell more than 400,000 vehicles in the US by 2016, and with well-received products like the latest 3 and Mazda6 sedan, such expectations seem quite possible.

Road & Track to take Miata on million-mile march

Sat, 11 Jan 2014

Road & Track has taken on a Miata project. One hell of a project, if we're honest. You see, the Miata in question, a 1989 example in Mariner Blue, isn't a high-mileage Mazda that the publication intends to fix up, or make race-worthy, or try to flip or give away to a reader or something. No, it's a rather typical well-used NA, with a hefty 325,000 miles on the clock to-date that the staff plans on driving until the six-digit odo reads all zeros again. One million miles or bust (or both, most likely).
Procured for the bargain-basement price of $1,600, complete with seat covers that "really do look like muppet pelts" (according to Zach Bowman) and a bondo-filled love tap on the nose, the NA Miata actually looks like just the sort of fun-machine that a real driving enthusiast would pick up to get some cheap thrills in. The R&T team already has some interesting plans for the Miata, including a potential run up Pikes Peak and loaning it out to readers (or perhaps your author...). Click through to read all about it.
