1985 Mazda Rx-7 Gsl-se 81k Miles Completely Stock Excellent Condition Rx7 on 2040-cars
Alpharetta, Georgia, United States
OVERVIEW: 81,800 original miles Third Owner 5 speed manual - 'Tender Blue' metallic exterior, grey cloth interior Never in an Accident 100% southern car No rust no dings or dents - runs beautifully! With low original miles and completely pure (stock), this car is an absolute must for a rotary enthusiast. Additionally, unique from other first generation RX-7s, the GSL-SE was only available for model years 1984/1985 and comes equipped with the more powerful, fuel injected, 13B 1.3L rotary engine. This engine became Mazda's staple rotary on the second generation model. This car is a true enthusiasts dream as it is the most coveted of the first generation RX7's. The car is loaded with everything, including the rare bronze factory tint. It does NOT have factory leather (thank goodness; it only came in ugly brown or burgundy) or factory power steering. An absolute joy to drive. She pulls hard, shifts smoothly and looks great. Twist up the roof, open the dash vents (the old kind that let air flow directly into the car, the faster you go, the more air it blows!) and listen to the great sounding engine and exhaust. Dont fret about the Racing Beat exhaust, it doesnt sound like a Civic with a big exhaust. Great handling as you navigate the twisty roads and enjoy that feeling of a pure vehicle, low to the ground. CARE & MAINTENANCE: The vehicle has been well maintained myself or with Mazcare in Marietta (a rotary specialized shop). Typical oil changes and maintenance have occurred. When purchased, the catalytic converter had been removed for the Racing Beat exhaust and muffler, I had the catalytic converter reinstalled to meet emissions in metro Atlanta through 2010. It was since removed, replaced with pre-silencer and the catalytic converter goes with the car. I replaced all exterior light bulbs, interior lights, headlights (Sylvania Silverstar), replaced rear hatch rubber molding, driver/passenger door rubber moldings, rear hatch struts, stock speakers with exact fit replacements. I had one door ding removed several years back, body is in excellent shape very unusual for the age. Recent maintenance (05/2013) at Mazcare included, re-installation of presilencer, new spark plugs, new distributor cap and rotor, ignition wires, ignition coil, repack of front wheel bearings, replace idler arm bushings, fan clutch and alternator belt. All of this was done to keep car in tip-top shape. Everything is in working condition with the following exceptions: power antennae does not work: Ive since turned stereo and antennae off so that it doesn't needlessly run the antenna motor; the motor would run at start/stop. The stereo works great, just not the best reception with the antennae in the body of the car. a/c compressor runs but is not cold, needs freon recharge or converted to 134a. I just did not drive the car on really hot days as the little compressor could not keep up with the Atlanta heat. rear wiper does not work (it did work after I replaced hatch shocks, but hasn't for some time now) minor tear in seam of drivers seat paint oxidation/fading on sunroof/roof (worst) and hood VEHICLE FEATURES: 1985 GSL-SE model with 81,800(+) miles! 13B, 135hp+, fuel-injected rotary engine (more hp with custom exhaust) Limited-slip differential 5-speed MANUAL transmission 4-wheel disc brakes A/C cruise control bronze factory tint aftermarket Racing Beat exhaust/muffler (no catalytic converter on the car - I still have it though) original factory rims are in great shape tires have plenty of tread original factory stereo with equalizer power windows full LeBra front cover (rare) extra stereo surround goes with the car body-matched rear view mirrors (compliments of first owner) original owners manual ABOUT THE OWNER: Garage-kept, smoke-free, pet-free, children-free vehicle, purchased in 2003, becoming the 3rd owner. 100% Southern car; purchased new in Georgia, spent time in Florida and returned to Georgia in 2003. Ive enjoyed the car for the past 11 years but ready for something new. Shipping Information: BUYER IS ABSOLUTELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS!!! Mazda G-Vectoring Control makes driving better without you knowing
Wed, Jun 29 2016Mazda has just spent eight years developing a new technology that will make its new cars a lot more fun to drive, even if you have absolutely no idea that it's working. And subtlety's the point, Mazda engineers told us at a press event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In fact, the effects of what they've dubbed G-Vectoring Control are so fine that the marketing and PR teams are at a loss for how to do their jobs with it. "The engineers have done their work," said Mazda Director of Communications Jeremy Barnes, "But how do we get the message across?" The basic premise is this: G-Vectoring activates only when the car's on-board computer reads simultaneous steering and throttle input. The data including throttle position, steering angle, and, crucially, how quickly you're adjusting the steering angle Β are then funneled through an algorithm to reduce engine torque, which transfers vehicle weight, adding more grip to the wheels that need it. The system will appear first on 2017 Mazda6 sedans arriving in showrooms later this year, followed by the 2017 Mazda3. Actually, "subtle" does not even begin to describe the effect. G-Vectoring Control can detect as much as one tenth of one degree of steering angle, and changes the cornering forces only 0.1 to 0.5 g as a result. "That's less than the human body can feel," explained Vehicle Development Engineer Dave Coleman. In practice, G-Vectoring reduces the steering angle at turn-in, as well as the rate at which one turns the wheel. To demonstrate, Director of R&D Kelvin Hiraishi rode shotgun with us in a specially equipped Mazda6 that allowed him to turn G-Vectoring on or off at the push of a button (production cars will always have it on). Hiraishi had us drive a number of courses, including Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca itself, while an engineer measured our steering inputs with a laptop Matrix'd into the car's electronic brain. I drove the same course several times with the same car in the same conditions, with cruise control locked and the system turned on or off. Lo and behold, with G-Vectoring activated, the engineer's output graph showed that my steering inputs were indeed reduced ever so slightly. There were two times that G-Vectoring was markedly noticeable. The first on a turn with a minor banking toward the outside, and the second was during cornering over an artificially wet section of the course Β in other words, when the car was at the limits of adhesion.
A tuned 1973 Mazda RX-3 is all business on Petrolicious
Wed, Feb 17 2016People with good memories might remember Savant Young and his highly modified 1973 Mazda RX-3 from an appearance on Jay Leno's Garage last summer. Now Petrolicious spotlights him and learns more about his amazing rotary coupe. After extensive upgrades, his car packs an estimated 400 horsepower, which is especially potent with only around 2,000 pounds to move around. Young thinks his Mazda is a perfect expression of his personality as a martial artist because it offers no frills and is all about business. This coupe looks ready for a fight, too, and sounds like a swarm of angry bees going down the road. Young works hard during the week but makes time to drive the RX-3 every weekend. We can understand why. A few hours enjoying this rotary could definitely erase some stress. Get a taste of this amazing machine in Petrolicious' latest video. If you want to experience another cool rotary, the channel profiled an RX-2 racecar from Australia last month. Related Video:
Goodwood Festival of Speed celebrating Mazda this year [w/video]
Sun, Feb 22 2015Mazda gets to wear the crown and sash as the doubly honored marque for the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year. The Japanese brand will be the focus of the Central Feature, the sculpture that sits outside Goodwood House, and its race cars will be the focus on the lawn, where there will be at least one representative from "every era of Mazda's motor sport achievement." The theme for this year's event is "Flat-out and fearless: racing on the edge." The showcase, of course, will be the 700-horsepower, rotary-engined 787B that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991. It will run up the 1.6-mile Hillclimb while a Mazda challenger from the World Rally Championship runs the Forest Rally Stage, joining Andros Trophy ice racing and sportscar racing Mazdas. The festival happens from June 25-28 this year, and there's a press release with more details down below the video recap from 2014 and Mazda 787B Le Mans lap. This content is hosted by a third party. Le Mans-winning 787B to headline fantastic Mazda line-up at FoS 2015 Feb 18, 2015 -- Mazda is the only Japanese manufacturer to have won the world's most prestigious motor race the Le Mans 24 Hours Β and the victorious rotary-engined 787B, with its distinctive sound, is certain to be a crowd favourite as it winds its way up Goodwood's iconic 1.16-mile Hillclimb at the Festival of Speed this year. The 787B is part of a fabulous collection of racing and road machines that will be brought to the Festival by Mazda, in the year in which the company is also being honoured by the iconic Central Feature outside Goodwood House. Further motor sport success has been achieved in touring cars, the World Rally Championship, Andros Trophy ice racing and sportscar competition in the USA Β in which Mazda's pioneering SKYACTIV-D turbodiesel technology is breaking new ground currently. In fact, every era of Mazda's motor sport achievement will be marked by some incredible competition cars both on the Hillclimb and the Forest Rally Stage as we celebrate the FoS theme 'Flat-out and fearless; racing on the edge'. The Moving Motor Show on June 25, will also showcase many of the key models from Mazda's current range.
