2003 Mazda Protege Low Low Miles Runs Exc W/lots Of Power & Exc Stereo System! on 2040-cars
Kingsport, Tennessee, United States
2003 Mazda Protege. It is a 4 cylinder 2.0 engine. It has a 5 speed transmission. It is 4 door. It has low miles with 87,690 miles on it. It has a sunroof that works well, with a vent visor on it. It has an am/fm CD stereo with 1,000 watt amp & boom box: Sounds pretty awesome! New tires. Front end has been aligned. It has had a fresh oil change, new oil filter, new spark plugs. Superb gas mileage!! This car runs solid, strong with lots of power. The exterior is black & has the paint "peeling" off the back trunk lid & back bumper (please see pics as it shows up like some faded white). Interior is in excellent shape, clean, no rips, tears or stains. The air works great but on the selector it doesn't seem to want to work when it is on 2 & 4. The heat works fine. The cruise control does not work. Power windows & power locks work fine. It has keyless entry.
We bought this car a few years ago used. It has never broke down or had any issues. It has lots of power, clutch is great & runs solid. We are not aware of any issues with the car currently. It does need a good wash & wax & some light vacuuming & light wipe down of the inside of the car where it has not been used very much & has collected some dust. We are selling several vehicles that we don't need in order to pay off bills & buy us a new truck (me mostly just drive our lincoln towncar & our business trucks). Of all my extra cars, we drove this one the most due to the excellent gas mileage. Selling the vehicle "as is" so please ask any questions before bidding. Winner bidder must contact us within 24 hours to make arrangements for pick up. Pick up must be completed within 7 days of auction end. We do not accept checks or pay pal. Winner must pay the full amount in cash at time of pickup or before delivery or shipping. We also will accept a bank transfer that involves both our banks being in contact with each other. We can bring the vehicle you on a rollback for a fee or we will cooperate if you need it shipped. We are located in Kingsport, TN. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to call me, Harold, at 423-416-4165. Please do not ask what the reserve is. We own our own towing business (Hillbilly Towing in Kingsport, TN) for over 19 years & we serve our county, city & state police departments. We add this in hopes that it helps the buyer feel more secure about the transaction. This is our personal vehicle that we personally bought years back. Thank you & happy bidding! |

Mazda delays US launch of Skyactiv-D engine
Thu, 09 Jan 2014Japanese automakers haven't lead the charge towards diesel power in the same way as, say, the Germans have. But Mazda is out to change that. It has been following Audi's lead on the racetrack with oil-burning racecars right here in America, and will soon translate that excitement to the road by introducing its Skyactiv-D engine in North America. It just won't happen as soon as we expected.
Mazda announced today that, while its diesel engine meets current emissions requirements, the company has decided once again to push back an introduction originally slated to kick off in the Spring. According to the brief statement below, Mazda wants to take more time to find "the right balance between fuel economy and Mazda-appropriate driving performance."
In other words, the Zoom-Zoom brand apparently thinks its diesel engine doesn't deliver the zoom-zoom American drivers would expect, so we'll have to wait just a little bit longer. Details to follow closer to launch, whenever that will ultimately take place.
Huet Brothers working on new Miata-based retro coupe
Wed, 14 May 2014Does the name Huet ring a bell? The Dutch brothers started out doing classic car tours in Europe before they started designed and building their own retro sports cars. The first was called the Huet Brothers Special. It was based on an old Triumph TR6 and surfaced back in 2009. But a few years later they started showing designs for a new coupe that called for a straight-six engine under a long bonnet with a fastback roofline, and started taking orders. Over the past two and a half years we didn't see anything materialize out of the Huet Brothers' plans, but word out of the Netherlands has it that the design is back on the table.
According to the Autovisie section of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Tino and Paul Huet were planning on building their coupe on the base of the MX-5 Miata. But now that Mazda is preparing to launch an all-new model, the Huets have decided to wait until next year and build their dream car on the new Skyactiv roadster chassis.
Rather than trying to shoehorn in a bigger engine (or the subsequent diesel model that was set to follow), the Huets are reportedly prepared to stick with Mazda's four-pot, offering it in stock form and various states of upgraded tune.
Infiniti QX60 AWD vs. Mazda CX-9 Signature
Fri, Jun 16 2017In certain ZIP codes around Dallas, Chevy's Suburban remains the Official SUV of Texas, but Infiniti's QX60 could be the Official Crossover. The Pathfinder-based three-row is everywhere. And while its popularity is based on transporting kids and their stuff, the QX60 is a more urban Suburban. Mazda's CX-9 is not as ubiquitous as the QX60 in McMansion driveways, but it has been making inroads into the near-luxury segment with its near-luxury spec. The CX-9's second generation has obviously upscale intent, in the sheetmetal and throughout the top-line Signature interior. And the prices of these two cars are surprisingly close. INFINITI QX60 AWD: The sheetmetal differentiating Infiniti's QX60 from its volume-oriented Nissan donor is attractive. The changes are subtle, and in profile the Pathfinder and Infiniti are almost identical, but the eye is drawn to the differences in the grille and D-pillar. The Infiniti has a luxury vibe with a more athletic stance. The QX60's interior surfaces seem upscale, but if you want wood it will cost you. In "building our own" and opting for graphite leather with maple trim, the wood requires another $12,000(!) of mandatory packages, including Infiniti's Premium and Premium Plus packages ($1,800 and $2,900, respectively) and $7,300 of Deluxe Tech. So, wood? We wouldn't. But if you do, know the QX60 won't match the larger QX80 in presence or passion, but it is certainly something beyond a rebadged Pathfinder. For you and your passengers, there is 156 cubic feet of interior room; with the second and third rows folded, you can accommodate 76 cubic feet of cargo. Like in most crossovers, that third row is best used by young kids, but taking six adults to lunch won't require too much gymnastics – or chiropractics. On the road, the QX60 is known more for comfort than composure; this isn't an old Buick, but neither is it a BMW. Nissan's 3.5 liter V6 produces generous power (295 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque), but it's transmitted to either the front wheels or all wheels via a CVT (continuously variable transmission). Nissan has tried to mitigate the quirkiness, but it's a CVT all the same. At a well-equipped base of $44,000, we like the QX60. But start adding options, and you can approach $60,000, which is real money even in the better ZIP codes. MAZDA CX-9 SIGNATURE: This, ladies and gentlemen, is dramatic. Mazda has absolutely nailed it. Using Mazda's KODO design language on a large platform could have gone wrong.
