This is a beautiful Mazda Miata which I am very sad to have to sell, but I am moving across the country and it simply doesn't make financial or logistical sense to bring it with me.

The car is in GREAT physical and mechanical condition. The car just had two brand new tires installed, an air filter change, and full synthetic oil change with long-drain oil filter. I have the major service records from most previous owner and myself, including new timing belt and water pump at 75k, new Interstate battery at 84k, alignment at 79k, all new KYB struts and sway bar link at 75k.

The top is in great condition with NO LEAKS OR HOLES whatsoever. The previous owner replaced the top within the last few years.

This car has pretty much every option available, including BOSE CD/Cassette Stereo, Leather, Cruise, Power Windows and Locks. The previous owner also installed a Viper alarm system with KEYLESS ENTRY!  The AC is ICE COLD and the heat is HOT HOT HOT.

The only imperfections on the car are those to be expected from a 1999 model year in 2013. There are a few parking lot dings, one on the trunk lid, and some various smaller ones around the car. The black paint hides these beautifully and are not noticeable until you are right up on the car and looking for them. Definitely nothing noticeable at more than a few paces. The wheels have a few tar stains on them that I have just never gotten around to taking care of. The drivers side seat has a very small (smaller than a penny) hole and some fraying on the bolster near the door from the previous owner getting in and out. Otherwise the leather and interior in general is in great shape. See the pics, they speak for themselves!

Please ask any and all questions you may have before bidding. A non-refundable deposit will be due within 24 hours of auction end and full payment for the car within 3 days.

Mazda6 Skyactiv-D Racecar ready to bring diesel to Grand-Am

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

It may not be quite as radical as some of the company's past rotary racers, but the new Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racecar does have a notable powertrain underhood: the automaker's brand-new clean diesel four-cylinder engine.
Three of these new diesel-powered Mazda6 racers will take to the track in the Grand-Am GX class of the upcoming 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 26, with five drivers on each team. The car you see above, number 70, is sponsored by Mazda's longtime motorsports partner, SpeedSource.
Check out our full gallery of high-res images live from the 2013 Detroit Auto Show above and feel free to read through the related press release from Mazda below.

R&T chases down a burglar in the million-mile Miata

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

Is the answer always Mazda Miata? We discussed this in passing on the Autoblog Podcast earlier this week, and most assuredly the answer is "no." For example, the little MX-5 would be a terrible people carrier, and it'd be useless off road. You can't really tow anything of substance with it, either. Still, if push came to shove, it's satisfying to know that the diminutive roadster could eke out a career as a chase vehicle for the police.
That fact was proven when Road & Track editor Chris Cantle did something that he himself recognizes as "stupid." Upon returning home, Cantle discovered a "twenty-something" actively burgling his home. The resulting story is easily one of the more entertaining episodes to come out of the 1990 MX-5's service to the team at R&T and, we're guessing, will be one of the highlights of the Million-Mile Miata challenge.
Be sure to head over to Road & Track for a full retelling of the chase from Cantle, as well as a follow-up on the saga.

Mazda Miata celebrates 25 years of rocking our worlds

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

For its birthday it hasn't been profiled on 60 Minutes or been to Jay Leno's Garage, doesn't go on a retrospective tour of vintage racetracks or get a special Spyder Zagato edition. That doesn't mean we think any less of the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the roadster with a simplicity that was as enjoyable as it was barely believable when it arrived in 1989. A quarter of a century and three generations later, the Miata remains the go-to roadster when you want easy, balanced and economical thrills.
It grew from a 116-horsepower speedster with a five-speed manual transmission and a curb weight of 2,116 pounds, to a 167-hp go-kart with a five-speed manual coming in at 2,480 pounds (in Sport guise). Along the way it's picked up hundreds of awards, including 14 nods on Car and Driver's "10Best" list, its most recent eight-year streak coming to an end last year, the Guinness Book of World Records title as "Best-Selling Two-Seater Sports Car" and innumerable trophies as weekend racer extraordinaire.
We'll see the fourth generation at next year's Chicago Auto Show, and we're certain to hear more about its 25-year milestone this year. Until that happens, enjoy the images above and the gallery and press release below.
