I'm selling my 1993 Mazda Miata to help fund a different toy, it's been a blast to drive and I'll certainly buy another one in the future but right now I have my eye on something else.  I'll try to cover everything that I can think of but if you have any question at all please send me a message through eBay I'll respond as quickly as possible, thanks.

Brief Description:

  • 1993 Mazda Miata, 1.6L 4cyl, Manual Transmission - gets around 30 MPG, depending on how you drive.  A tank of gas would easily last me all summer in the car, but I don't use it as a daily driver.
  • Body Style is the 'NA', which ran until around 1997 I believe - by far the most popular Miata body
  • Paint Color Code is SU (Sunburst Red)
  • Brand new top has been professionally installed
  • Paint is in very good condition, nice deep gloss to it.  It's probably been painted at some point, I've never seen a 1993 with this much shine to it 20 years later.  Please do not be misled though, it does have some typical paint flaws such as pebble chips and small dings here and there.  I just want to be clear that the paint is not faded or oxidized like most of the other Miatas of this year.
  • Interior is in average to above-average condition; the carpet is in reasonably good shape, seats are also in good shape - no rips/cuts/snags in the seats (headrests have speakers in them)
  • Instrument cluster is in good shape, no broken/busted up plastic.  Front dash has a crack that be clearly seen in my pictures, it could easily be replaced but I never felt like messing with it.
  • Steering wheel is certainly not my taste, but I'm not going to try and rip it apart to put it back to factory
  • Air Conditioning blows nice and cold
  • Power mirrors and power windows work as they should
  • New Pioneer Head Unit was installed - I've yet to figure out how to use it though
  • Goodyear Eagle GT (195/55R15) Tires have less than a 1,000 miles on them, very good condition
  • Rims are Kazera KZ-M - they fit nicely on Miatas and give a little bit wider stance
  • Brakes are in good shape; rotors are slotted & drilled, calipers are color-matched red
  • Exhaust system was replaced before I bought the car; I'm not a fan of after-market exhaust systems but the old system was probably getting past it's day with this many miles on the car
  • Clutch has been replaced along with shifter rod - shifts much smoother and has a much shorter throw
  • Power Steering pump and lines have been replaced
  • Coolant hoses have been replaced, had a slow leak so just replaced all of them
  • Front glass does have a rock chip in it - been there for a while actually (see pic.s).  Has not grown and shouldn't spread, but thought I should mention that.

I can help the buyer with the shipping details if you're new to the process; it's fairly painless and I've done it so I can help you out if you need it.

Infiniti QX60 AWD vs. Mazda CX-9 Signature

Fri, Jun 16 2017

In certain ZIP codes around Dallas, Chevy's Suburban remains the Official SUV of Texas, but Infiniti's QX60 could be the Official Crossover. The Pathfinder-based three-row is everywhere. And while its popularity is based on transporting kids and their stuff, the QX60 is a more urban Suburban. Mazda's CX-9 is not as ubiquitous as the QX60 in McMansion driveways, but it has been making inroads into the near-luxury segment with its near-luxury spec. The CX-9's second generation has obviously upscale intent, in the sheetmetal and throughout the top-line Signature interior. And the prices of these two cars are surprisingly close. INFINITI QX60 AWD: The sheetmetal differentiating Infiniti's QX60 from its volume-oriented Nissan donor is attractive. The changes are subtle, and in profile the Pathfinder and Infiniti are almost identical, but the eye is drawn to the differences in the grille and D-pillar. The Infiniti has a luxury vibe with a more athletic stance. The QX60's interior surfaces seem upscale, but if you want wood it will cost you. In "building our own" and opting for graphite leather with maple trim, the wood requires another $12,000(!) of mandatory packages, including Infiniti's Premium and Premium Plus packages ($1,800 and $2,900, respectively) and $7,300 of Deluxe Tech. So, wood? We wouldn't. But if you do, know the QX60 won't match the larger QX80 in presence or passion, but it is certainly something beyond a rebadged Pathfinder. For you and your passengers, there is 156 cubic feet of interior room; with the second and third rows folded, you can accommodate 76 cubic feet of cargo. Like in most crossovers, that third row is best used by young kids, but taking six adults to lunch won't require too much gymnastics – or chiropractics. On the road, the QX60 is known more for comfort than composure; this isn't an old Buick, but neither is it a BMW. Nissan's 3.5 liter V6 produces generous power (295 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque), but it's transmitted to either the front wheels or all wheels via a CVT (continuously variable transmission). Nissan has tried to mitigate the quirkiness, but it's a CVT all the same. At a well-equipped base of $44,000, we like the QX60. But start adding options, and you can approach $60,000, which is real money even in the better ZIP codes. MAZDA CX-9 SIGNATURE: This, ladies and gentlemen, is dramatic. Mazda has absolutely nailed it. Using Mazda's KODO design language on a large platform could have gone wrong.

Why a production Mazda Koeru won't be a Subaru Outback clone

Wed, Dec 9 2015

No automaker has had a hit quite like the Outback Many have entered, few have won. The Subaru Outback is one of those automotive bogeys that competitors seek to imitate but never quite capture. Mazda is poised to change that, its CEO tells Automotive News, with a production version of the Koeru concept. We're torn on whether this attempt will be the one to do it, whether the proposed model is truly aimed at the Outback, or whether it's just another pale imitation destined for failure. While the ingredients are pretty basic – wagon-like shape, extra cladding, a smidge more ground clearance than a regular car – no automaker has had a hit quite like the Outback. Reasons include packaging issues, poor brand fit, and Subaru's seemingly unstoppable momentum in building all-wheel-drive archetypes. That hasn't stopped a bunch of companies from trying. And now for a list: Ford attempted with the Freestyle/Taurus X; note that that model no longer exists, having been replaced de facto by the Flex and the newly crossover-ified Explorer. Audi discontinued the A4 Avant and slapped the Allroad badge and some fender flares on to capture the affluent outdoorsy crowd, initially selling well but now down 40 percent since last year. The humpback Honda (Accord) Crosstour and Toyota Venza could also be considered Outback-apers, as both short-lived models took sedan bodies and added a hatch and optional all-wheel drive. Dodge got into this space a few years back with the Journey Crossroad trim level, but fake brush guards and black wheels do not an Outback make. Volvo has perhaps come closest with the XC70, a not-quite-crossover that it nevertheless brands like its other crossovers. It helps that the Volvo die-hard and the repeat Subaru buyer aren't too different. Most of these models no longer exist, and the ones that do haven't sold as well as Subaru's Outback so far this year. Even if you're generous and add all 96,718 Journey sales (and not just those for the Crossroad, which FCA doesn't break out separately) to V70/XC70, Venza, and Crosstour, it still doesn't equal the 136,227 Outbacks Subaru pushed through November of 2015. And, as Automotive News points out, Mazda hasn't sold that many crossovers so far this year (the number is 129,932 thanks to huge CX-5 numbers). So why is Mazda considering going after the hallowed Outback? First off, we're not sure that it is because there's the question of what tiny niche this vehicle would occupy. "It's a totally new car.

Mazda begins building Mazda3 in Mexico for US

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

With fluctuations in international currencies and rising shipping costs to take into account, foreign automakers can't get away with building cars overseas and selling them in North America as easily as they used to. Particularly with inexpensive mainstream models. And given the benefits of cheaper labor and free trade under NAFTA, many have opted to assemble their cars for the North American market in Mexico. That's why the likes of Toyota, Mercedes and BMW have all opened plants in Mexico. And now Mazda has followed suit.
Ground was initially broken for Mazda de Mexico Vehicle Operations at Salamanca in the state of Gunajuato back in 2011, but production has just now gotten under way. The first vehicle to roll off the line? A Mazda3 sedan destined for the United States. Soon, the plant will begin production of the next Mazda2 as well, selling it alongside its larger counterpart across the Americas and in Europe as production expands to 230,000 units annually. For more information, see the official press release below.
