Up for auction is a 1999 Mazda Miata. I purchased this car a couple of months ago as a third vehicle that I thought would be fun to have with spring time coming up. I have two kids and my wife does not like to ride it, because she says it is too small. For these reasons I do not get to use as much as I would like so I am putting it up for sale to buy something else the whole family can enjoy. I will give you a break down of everything on the car.
Body: The body is in fair to good shape. There is no rust on the body of the car or the frame of the car. There are a few spots on the hood, trunk, and the top of the rear quarter panels where the clear coat is fading. You can see these spots in the pictures. There is one dent in the rear section of the bumper, also shown in the picture. Besides that there are some minor scratches as can be expected in a car of this age, but nothing significant. If I were to keep it I would probably pain the car just to make it look really nice but it is not a necessity. The top on the car is in car is in very good shape with no rips or tears and it does not leak. The picture shows a spot on the rear bumper but the bumper has since been repainted. It has brand new tires on it with after market ICW wheels.
Interior: The interior of the car is in fair to good shape. It has black cloth interior. The driver seat has three tears in it so I put the seat cover on it to prevent them from getting worse. The passenger seat has one small wear spot next to the console that is not very noticeable. There are no cracks in the dash or door panels. The carpet is black and is in good shape.
Electronics: All the electronics work on the car as they are suppose to. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the passenger headlight bulb needs to be replaced. The power windows work as they are suppose to. All the gauges work and are accurate. The interior lights all work fine. It has the factory Mazda CD player that works good with no problems. The check engine light is on. I had it checked by Auto Zone and they said it was reading an EGR valve so I did not worry about fixing it. The previous owner recent replaced the main wire harness on the car. I just replaced the heater core so it has very hot heat now. The A/C works but needs a charge. I was not too worried about that because I drive with the top down anyway.
Drivetrain: This is the best part of the car. It has had a lot of recent work done by the previous owner and myself. It has a great running 1.8 liter engine that puts out 140HP mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. It has a brand new performance clutch in it and it shift great. The previous owner recently rebuilt the top end of the motor. I am not sure about the bottom end but it holds very good oil pressure and there are no odd sounds. There is also a new radiator and fuel pump. I just replaced the passenger front wheel hub. This car only weighs 2300lbs and it will fly. There are a lot of curves on the roads around my house and I can take them at 80MPH and it only feels like I am doing 30MPH. The car is a blast to drive.
Just to give you an overview of all the recent work done to the car:
- Top end of engine rebuilt
- New performance clutch
- New main wire harness
- New tires
- New front passenger wheel bearing
- New fuel pump
- New heater core and hoses
The car runs and drives great with no problems. I am selling it at NO RESERVE. I do have it for sale or trade locally. If you have any questions please feel free to email, text, or call Josh at 864-254-8572.

2016 Mazda CX-9 caught on video
Sat, Aug 22 2015We already know from earlier spy shots that the second-generation Mazda CX-9 is advancing in development, but here's an opportunity to actually see the crossover on the road. The video shows the CX-9's rear, but wait 50 seconds for a good look at it in profile and from the front. The CX-9 is no longer wearing the same camouflage from the last spy photos, but this time it has more cladding to hide the lines. Even with the obfuscation, you can still get a sense of the general shape. The CUV largely looks like a stretched version of the CX-5, which is a great place to start. Rumors suggest the new CX-9 will debut in November at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show and to launch in 2016 for the 2017 model year. Power is tipped to come from a turbocharged, 2.5-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder, and all-wheel drive is expected to be available. Related Video:
Weekly Recap: Geneva's splendor reflects growing demand for ultra-luxury cars
Sat, Mar 7 2015Geneva is one of the most glittering auto shows in the world, but the list of high-powered and bespoke luxury cars was decadent this year even by the rich standards of the Swiss exhibition. It's great for enthusiasts to revel in the flame-throwing Aston Martin Vulcan, the racing-inspired elegance of the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept and the insane performance of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, but there's a reason for all of this opulence: the luxury market is big business. And it's growing. IHS Automotive forecasts that so-called ultra-premium sales will nearly triple this decade from 123,000 to 353,000 units around the world. The estimate includes brands like Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce, but doesn't count BMW, Mercedes and Audi, which offer less expensive models in addition to their high-end flagships. Though IHS includes Porsche and its relatively large volume in the study, the ultra-premium segment is still set grow at about the same rate, even without the German automaker's figures. So what is propelling all of this growth in the most expensive segment of the auto industry? Put simply, there's more rich people. IHS Automotive principal analyst Tim Urquhart pointed to economic expansion in China, market recovery in the United States and a surge in the lucrative technology sector as contributing factors. This dovetails with a research report by UK-based Oxfam, an international relief organization, which found the world's richest one-percent owned 48 percent of global wealth in 2014, and it's expected to increase to more than 50 percent by 2016. View 17 Photos Carmakers are moving quickly to capitalize with new products, expanding their portfolios with low-volume speedsters like the 800-hp V12 Vulcan at Geneva, and plans to enter new segments, like Rolls-Royce's strategy to make an SUV. "Ultra-premium carmakers are looking to explore ways of growing their product offerings, and thus their bottom lines, in this most potentially profitable of segments," Urquhart wrote in a report on the Geneva show. In a nutshell, there are more choices for people with more money. It's a good time to have expensive taste. Other News & Notes 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata production launches It won't be long now. Mazda shows lightweight MX-5 Spyder and Speedster at SEMA
Tue, Nov 3 2015Ever since Mazda dropped the first teaser on us last week, we've been looking forward to seeing what it had in store for us at SEMA this year. Now we've seen it what Mazda has dubbed the MX-5 Spyder and MX-5 Speedster, and they were worth the wait. The Spyder goes vintage with a silver paintjob and a brown top stretched overhead. It also has an aero kit, grille, and tonneau cover done up in carbon fiber, rides on 17-inch wheels, and features a natural leather interior. The blue Speedster, meanwhile, goes for the stripped-down, wind-in-your-hair experience. It has no roof or windshield, just a tiny deflector at the front of the dashboard. It's dropped an inch closer to the ground on an adjustable coilover suspension with 16-inch alloys, and features a center-exit exhaust. Carbon fiber helps trim 250 pounds from the curb weight, along with a stripped out interior trimmed in Alcantara. Both look pretty slick, and disappoint only in so far as they (like so many of their predecessor concepts) won't be heading for production. If they were, we'd be hard pressed to choose between the two. Which would you go for? Mazda Reveals Extreme Lightweight Design Concepts at 2015 SEMA MX-5 Concepts Display Two Different Takes on Staying True to Pure, Lightweight Sports Car Philosophy LAS VEGAS (November 3, 2015) – Mazda revealed two design concepts today at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, based on its all-new 2016 MX-5 Miata—MX-5 Spyder and MX-5 Speedster—demonstrating two vastly different takes on lightweight, open-air performance. Lightweight. Fun-to-drive. Roadster. Those three tenets have served as the foundation for the Mazda MX-5 Miata since its 1989 introduction and continue to serve the new fourth-generation model. Focused, lightweight engineering is a guiding principle of every Mazda vehicle made with SKYACTIV Technology, allowing for greater efficiency, improved performance and agile handling dynamics. But what if that sense of lightweight performance were taken to the extreme? What if Mazda's North American designers harkened back to vintage roadsters to create thoroughly modern, bespoke concepts for what a lightweight performance car should be The results would be the MX-5 Spyder and MX-5 Speedster concepts. "Both MX-5 Spyder and MX-5 Speedster are uncompromising designs that highlight the core strengths of MX-5," said Ken Saward, design manager, Mazda North American Operations.
