1999 Mazda Miata Mx-5 Built Supercharged Fast! No Reserve on 2040-cars
Rapid City, South Dakota, United States
Oh, The Things we do for Love! I bought this little beauty 2 years ago. It had been hit in the rear end, all she needed was a bumper cover and a trunk deck. No suspension damage at all. First: A bit of Basic Information about our little Miata: !No body Damage! No Rust Top looks like new No rips/tears in interior No cracks on dash Touch Screen Am/FM/MP3/DVD Player (cool!) You'll see in the pictures above the radio a Air/Fuel Gauge, a Fuel Pressure Gauge and a Boost Gauge (from left to right) (See Supercharger below!) Power Windows Air conditioning (nice and cold!) 5 Speed Manual Transmission Body Kit (From Mazda OEM) A Whole Heck of Awesomeness! The vehicle has 45217 miles on it, but I had the engine rebuilt by an outfit that specializes in only Miatas in Sunnyvale, CA called Track-speed Engineering: I did this to ensure that the addition of the supercharger would never be a problem, the engine was wroking just right. Here is What They Did: Rebuilt Head with Super tech valves, Springs, and Valve Seals Port Matched Head Super tech Forged Pistons with 8.5:1 Compression for Forced Induction (Bored .030 Over) Eagle H-Beam Forged Rods Weisco XX rings ACL Race Bearings New Street/Strip Oil Pump New Water Pump New Gates Racing timing Belt/Pulleys/Tensioner All New Seals/Gaskets Threw on a Racing Beat Header for good measure! The Engine has exactly 233.6 Documented miles Then I put on the beast! MOSS Motors MP62 Supercharger Kit For anyone who does not know, the MP62 is the largest supercharger available for the Miata. I set i up with a modest pulley size to put out about 7 PSI according to the boost gauge. With pulley changes, this is capable of pushing as much as 20 PSI Then To hold Down the Power: I added a Racing Clutch form 949 Racing: Again, Miata specialists. This can hold down plenty of juice. So what's the catch? There isn't one. I have truly loved this car for the last two years, it has been a labor of love for me to take this MX-5 from something good to a truly great little car. But it's time to move on to the next project. So, the bottom line, if you are looking for a reliable, incredibly fun and very reasonable sports car, this is it. Oh, PS, this is an adult owned car from start to finish. Also, the sponsor vinyl on the side is completely removable. if you don't like it, but who wouldn't right? I like to have a little fun with my ads, but without any reservations, this is an excellent car and a blast to drive! Good luck bidding! And take care of her! |

Mazda engineer wants new rotary to be turbocharged
Fri, Feb 5 2016Hope springs eternal for Mazda to revive the high-revving Wankel engine for a new sports car, and the company keeps feeding that thirst with hints that it could happen. To make the possibility even more tantalizing, Mazda drivetrain and powertrain assistant manager Tetsushi Marutani tells Motoring that he wants the updated mill to pack a turbocharger. "Personally, I think that a rotary with some turbo or compressor would be good," Marutani said to Motoring. "Because a rotary, in my opinion, they require more [torque at] low speed, low down torque. So if we have some small compressor or turbo it would help." Mazda hasn't sold a rotary-powered model since the RX-8 and hasn't had a turbocharged one since the third-generation RX-7. However, the recent RX-Vision concept (above) at least hinted at a possible Wankel revival, and Mazda officials confirmed that its engineers continued to develop the engine since the RX-8's demise. The RX-Vision used a next-gen rotary called the Skyactiv-R, but Mazda didn't officially confirm any details about it. Rumors suggested the engine had a two-rotor layout with a total displacement of 1.6 liters. A two-stage electric turbo and hybrid powertrain would allegedly boost the total output of around 450 horsepower. The electric assistance could also counter the Wankel's lack of torque at low revs and poor fuel economy. Those rumored specs sound fantastic, but we still take the rotary's return with a grain of salt. Mazda CEO Masamichi Kogai is adamant that it's not worth the company's limited resources to develop a niche sports coupe instead of better selling vehicles. Related Video:
Recharge Wrap-up: BYD sales surge, new Mazda MX-5, plug-in VW Passat
Mon, Jul 7 2014BYD has enjoyed a tremendous leap in sales since last year, according to Want China Times. Sales from January to April were ten times that of the same period last year, with much of the credit going to government subsidies for clean cars. BYD claims, though, that battery production is limiting the number of vehicles it sells, and that by increasing that production capacity, it will see even more success. BYD's Qin plug-in hybrid, introduced in December, has already sold 4,500 units with another 8,000 orders already placed. Read more here. Mazda will reveal the fourth generation of its MX-5 roadster in September. To celebrate the car's 25th anniversary, the all-new two-seat convertible will debut during simultaneous private events in Spain, Japan and the US on September 3 and 4. Furthermore, the new Miata will be the center of a more public event in Barcelona on September 6. For fans in the US, Mazda will hold a Miatas at Mazda Raceway event from September 5 to 7. The 2016 MX-5 promises to continue to offer a lightweight, balanced design for fun and efficiency. The new Volkswagen Passat will feature a plug-in hybrid version. Volkswagen confirmed the Passat PHEV for Europe at the model's unveiling at the Volkswagen Design Centre in Potsdam, Germany. The plug-in Passat uses a 154-horsepower TSI engine and an 80-kilowatt electric motor for a total output of 208 horsepower. With a full charge, it can travel up to 31 miles on electricity alone. All versions of the eighth-generation Passat use stop-start and regenerative braking. Read more at Green Car Congress. BBC warns that the costs of charging an electric vehicle in the UK could surpass those of fueling a gasoline engine. Not so fast, says The Green Car Website. While the BBC cites charging services like Charge Master introducing fees for rapid charging making it cost about as much per mile to drive as traditional internal combustion engines. The Green Car Website points out that most people usually charge at home for much less, that paying for rapid charging is still not that expensive and that the BBC article misses the point about EVs, anyway. 2021 L.A. Auto Show roundup | All the reveals, reviews, pictures
Thu, Nov 18 2021The L.A. Auto Show took place this week for the first time since the onset of the pandemic. It was a show packed with news and reveals, which hasn't really been the case with other shows we've seen this year, and Autoblog was on the floor covering every minute of it. Well, Riswick and Stocksdale were, anyway. The rest of us were sitting at home in our sweatpants, but hey, we'll take credit anyway. Let's get to it. Hyundai Seven Concept This is the Hyundai Seven Concept, and it’s meant to act as a preview for an incoming electric SUV for the Ioniq brand. It leans more toward the concept side of the spectrum than a production car, but expect the final SUV to take design cues from the Seven Concept. Kia Concept EV9 The Hyundai Seven counterpart isn't the only big, bold electric SUV at L.A. this year. Kia has its own take, and it's a modernized version of the traditional boxy utility vehicle called the Concept EV9. It also previews one of the next production electric cars for the brand, which should look right at home next to things like the Telluride. 2023 Kia Sportage HEV As promised, the 2023 Kia Sportage HEV has been revealed. The hybrid powertrain makes the compact SUV the most powerful version available, and it goes on sale next year. The engine is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder paired with a 44-kW electric motor. Total output is 226 horsepower. The company didn't give a torque number, but it should basically be the same as the Sorento HEV that has the same basic powertrain: 258 pound-feet. Those numbers are a healthy step up from the 187 horsepower of the base 2.5-liter engine. 2022 Range Rover If you noticed how extra smooth and suave the new Range Rover looked during its recent reveal, Autoblog's James Riswick got a design tour that revealed some of the technological secrets to its success. "Less is more" is harder to achieve than it looks. Fisker Ocean Fisker has brought the new Ocean EV to the L.A. Auto Show, with a public preview at Manhattan Beach and a presence at the show itself. You can watch the public show reveal above, and see more shots from the show floor below. Fisker says the Ocean will start at $37,499 before incentives. That entry model would be the Sport trim with a single, 275-horsepower motor driving the front wheels and 250 miles of estimated range. It also has a 0-60 time of 6.9 seconds. 2023 Toyota bZ4X This is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X, due to hit U.S.
