1996 Mazda Miata M Edition New Engine on 2040-cars
Chula Vista, California, United States
For auction is my 1996 Miata M 5 speed. This is a loved mechanics car. First it is a M edition so it has all of the options including ABS, air conditioning, Premium Sound System with CD player, door-mounted tweeters and headrest speakers, M edition logo on tachometer, exterior M Edition badge, M Edition key fob/badge/lapel pin, security system with remote entry and the Popular Equipment Package, which included: power steering, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power mirrors, alloy wheels, Torsen limited slip differential, rear sub frame brace, cruise control, power windows, and power antenna. The engine has been totally rebuilt. This is not a used engine from Japan, the original engine has been rebuilt with top quality parts and expert machine work. The engine only has 1715 miles and it has not used a drop of oil. The car also has new tires (205x50x15 Hankook), Later model 15" wheels, sport suspension (springs, shocks and bar), later model interior, a new clutch, new belts and hoses and a new radiator. It also has the much appreciated coolant reroute that cools the engine more evenly. Everything works except the power antenna and the windshield washers. Sometimes the key needs to be flipped several times but it has never failed to start. It has an older repaint that still looks good with wax (6-7 out of 10) For the money, you get much more with this car. A Pay Pal deposit of $500 is due when the auction closes with the balance due in cash or cashiers check on delivery. The car can be picked up in Chula Vista (San Diego), CA or I will work with a shipper of the buyers choice.

Volkswagen's latest ad is not subtle | Autoblog Podcast #509
Fri, Mar 24 2017On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman are joined by special guest James Riswick, who has been driving a lot of new cars lately. All of them are discussed, plus a few more from Mike and David, and Mike rants a bit about a new VW Atlas commercial. The episode wraps up with the traditional doling out of Spend My Money buying advice, during which David briefly goes out into left field. (He's back now, don't worry.) The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too. 2018 Mazda CX-5 spied testing in Southern California
Tue, Aug 9 2016It appears the replacement for the Mazda CX-5 is on its way. The current model, though a few years old at this point, is still one of our favorite crossovers on the market. Its combination of handsome styling, practicality, and a genuine fun-to-drive nature make it a winner in our hearts. Hopefully this new model doesn't stray too far from that winning recipe. At least on the outside, that seems to be the case. The spy photos reveal Mazda's Kodo design language in full bloom. The general shape is the same as the current model, but the curves are a little tighter and appear similar to the new CX-9 and Chinese-only CX-4. The grille loses the horizontal bars for a deep-set mesh pattern, while the whole fascia appears to be more upright. The headlights and taillights look to be slimmer and slightly re-sculpted versions of the current shape. Other details for the upcoming CX-5 are scarce. The crossover is expected to debut next year as a 2018 model. It's unknown what engines or transmissions will be available, though the current powertrains are likely to carry over. There's also the rumor of a Mazda diesel making its way over, but, as always, it seems like a long shot. Related Video:
Mazda Furai concept designer talks about his car's passing
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Last week, there was mourning at the Autoblog offices as word trickled in that the Mazda Furai concept - one of the coolest, best-looking showcars to grace an auto show stage since the wild and crazy 1960s -had been killed. It was killed on the track with the folks from Top Gear in attendance. We're sure the gods of driving would have wanted it to die on a circuit, but that doesn't make its fiery passing any easier to deal with.
The Furai is the rare concept car that had a lasting appeal with enthusiasts, partly because it was a real, functioning racecar, complete with a wacky three-rotor Wankel engine and cutting-edge Nagare design. Now that it's gone, though, Road & Track's Mallory McMorrow, who was an intern at Mazda Design when the Furai was being styled in 2007, has published an interview with one of the men who penned the Mazda showcar's striking exterior, Carlos Salaff. It's a great piece on the emotional connection between a designer and his creation, and one you should take the time to read. Click on over to R&T for the full story.
