It is green with black cloth seats, keyless smart access, push start button, blue tooth, power windows, power locks and alloy wheels. The car is clean inside and out, the exterior and interior are in good condition with regular wear and tear for the year and mileage. The car is mechanically in perfect condition; the engine sounds as it should, the transmission shifts gears as it should, every single component and electronic in this car has been tested and it is in working condition without a flaw. Jerry Seinfeld and Margaret Cho get coffee in a Mazda Cosmo Sport
Thu, Jun 23 2016The new season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee has already reached its second episode, imaginatively titled, You Can Go Cho Again. If it's classic Mazdas you like, you're in for a treat. In this episode, Jerry Seinfeld plays up the You Only Live Twice vibe you get from the 1967 Mazda Cosmo Sport, as it's suitably similar to the Toyota 2000GT seen it that film – in color, at least. Unlike the Yamaha twin cam six Toyota, the little Mazda is propelled by a characteristic rotary engine, which in Jerry's opinion is similarly eccentric as the episode guest Margaret Cho. The right-hand-drive Cosmo Sport is an unicorn in the States, and it's in absolutely perfect condition right down to the houndstooth upholstery. Junkyard Gem: 1981 Mazda RX-7
Mon, Jul 11 2016The first-generation Mazda RX-7 was sold for the 1978 through 1985 model years, and for decades you'd see and hear these nimble little sports cars buzzing around American streets. Then, well, the apex seals went out, or owners tired of a 2,400-pound car that drank fuel like an Eldorado, or the floor pans were eaten by the Rust Monster... and then nearly all of them were gone. Enough of them remain, however, for a steady trickle to show up with depressing regularity in self-service wrecking yards. Here's a pretty solid '81 that I found in a Denver yard last month. The 12A Wankel engine in this car made 100 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque, which was very good for 1981 (considering that you could buy a new Camaro with a 115-horsepower V8 that year). The $9,385 RX-7 looked like an especially good value when compared to, say, the $11,299 Datsun 280ZX or the $8,997 Fiat 124 Sport Spider, being much lighter on its feet than the former and much quicker than the latter.
