Up for sale is my 2004 Mazda RX-8. I purchased this car in April 2013 with the intentions of giving it to my daughter. Shortly after I realized that it is way to High Performance for a young girls first car. So my wife and I have been driving it just as a fun weekend car, and it not been driven in winter at all.

The RX-8 has a 2 cylinder rotary 1308cc engine with a 4 speed automatic/manual transmission with the paddle shift option. It currently has 130,260 miles, and runs/drives great. I have had it back to the Mazda dealer twice. Once for a new key and key fob, and once to have the driver's seat airbag control module replaced.

The exterior paint is fair, with the exception of the front and rear bumper covers which are chipped and cracked. There is also a spot above the fuel tank door which is also peeling. All of these you can see in my pictures, and I could take additional photos if needed. The interior is in good shape other than a burn mark on the drivers seat, however the car has not been smoked in since I have owned it. The A/C, power windows, and power door locks all work as they should. The radio will occasionally stop working, I beleve it to be just a loose connection.

Overall the car is in good rust- free condition, as it was originally a Texas registered car when I bought it. It is a very fun car to drive and handles great.

The car is for sale locally also, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. The car is available for local pickup, or I can assist the buyer in shipping the vehicle at their expense. I would also consider delivering the car up to 100 miles for an additional fee.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me here a Ebay.I check my email on a regular basis and will respond in reasonable amount of time. Thanks for looking , and good luck bidding!

White House clears way for NHTSA to mandate vehicle black boxes

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

At present, over 90 percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States today are equipped with event data recorders, more commonly known as black boxes. If the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gets its way, that already high figure will swell to a full 100 percent in short order.
Such automotive black boxes have been in existence since the 1990s, and all current Ford, General Motors, Mazda and Toyota vehicles are so equipped. NHTSA has been attempting to make these data recorders mandatory for automakers, and according to The Detroit News, the White House Office of Management Budget has just finished reviewing the proposal, clearing the way. Now NHTSA is expected to draft new legislation to make the boxes a requirement.
One problem with current black boxes is that there's no set of standards for automakers to follow when creating what bits of data are recorded, and for how long or in what format it is stored. In other words, one automaker's box is probably not compatible with its competitors.

Mazda and Clemson collaborate on Deep Orange 3 concept

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

There are school projects, and then there's the Mazda Deep Orange 3 Concept Car, a one-off built by Clemson University automotive engineering students and designed by Frederick Naaman from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Clemson students unveiled the chassis at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, although this is the first showing of the car fully clothed.
Sporting a unique hybrid powertrain that can automatically switch between front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive. A gas-powered engine handles the fronts, while the rears are powered by an electric motor and a battery pack. The Deep Orange 3 also has an unusual three-plus-three layout, making it a much cooler version of your parent's old Vista Cruiser. The exterior sheetmetal clearly follows Mazda's established design language, and looks like it could easily pass for a five-door version of the Shinari Concept. It really is a great looking vehicle.
The Deep Orange 3 was part of Clemson's graduate-level auto engineering program, and is a regular partnership between the east coast school and the Pasadena-based design college's students. Clemson, Art Center and Mazda will be showing the Deep Orange 3 at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, MI, from August 5 to August 8. Mazda3 Skyactiv-Hybrid and CNG Concept shown in Japan

Thu, 21 Nov 2013

Mazda has received a tremendous amount of public and industry praise in the last few years, following up the successful introduction of its Skyactiv technology (powertrain and otherwise), with strong products like CX-5, Mazda6 and most recently, the Mazda3. At the Tokyo Motor Show, Mazda has taken yet another step forward with Skyactiv and the 3, showing the compact (called "Axela" in Japan) with an all-new compressed natural gas engine in the Skyactiv-CNG Concept.
The end result of the Skyactiv-Hybrid is fuel consumption estimated at something like 74 miles per gallon.
Mazda thinks that CNG-powered vehicles are due for an uptick in demand, and the company believes this new powertrain will add valuable breadth to the Mazda3 range. The CNG Concept is actually a duel-fuel vehicle, capable of running on either natural gas or gasoline. In fact, we're told that the high compression ratio (14:1) inherent in Skyactiv-technology gasoline engines makes conversion to CNG particularly simple.
