Rapidly becoming a collectors car, this  immaculate 1994 example of an RX7 Banzai is the last built of only 12 Banzai's produced.

Converted from new by Pettit Racing of West Palm Beach, Florida, it has a plethora or upgrades including all round brake and suspension upgrades  plus STEEL flared reach arches to accommodate the 315/30R18 Yokohama Advan tires required for putting the power output (500 BHP) from the 20B, street ported, 3 rotor engine to the road.
The interior is all original but has been professionally reupholstered to color code and match exterior accessories.

ICE comprises of Panasonic head with Kicker Amp and speakers.
This car has never been raced and has been meticulously maintained.
With only 8500 miles on the clock it is likely one of the best examples of any RX7.... anywhere!
The  factory Hitachi twin turbos are retained but converted from sequential function to compound, providing blistering performance shooting the car from standstill to 60mph in less than 4 seconds and with a top speed approaching 200 mph. True super car class performance and all with the handling characteristics for which the FD RX7 is renown.

I have owned this car for almost 10 years and driven it very sparingly and tuned it to run on only 8psi of boost.
It has featured in many magazines and won several show awards.

Goodbye Zoom-Zoom, Driving Matters is Mazda's new slogan [w/video]

Timed with the launch of the 2016 MX-5 Miata, Mazda is now changing gears with its advertising strategy in the US by launching a whole new slogan. The Japanese brand's latest marketing motto takes a much more direct approach than Zoom-Zoom by simply saying Driving Matters. The two-word phrase is meant to make customers believe that a good time behind the wheel can improve their lives. Driving Matters is also supposed to say something about how Mazda engineers vehicles. "Whether it's for safety purposes or for maintaining our 'fun to drive' nature, it all comes down to the fact that driving matters to our customers and it matters to us." Russell Wager, vice president of marketing at Mazda North American Operations, said in the announcement of the new campaign. However, Zoom-Zoom isn't entirely dead, and the words still appear in small print in some of these spots. According to Wager in an interview with Automotive News, the old slogan isn't necessarily understandable to some focus groups. "I'll ask them to explain to me what 'Zoom Zoom' means, and I'll get 6 or 7 different answers. That's what Driving Matters is supposed to address. It's supposed to solidify what 'Zoom Zoom' means to people," he said. So far, the company has released several examples of the campaign to highlight the Miata and Mazda6. Bauer Catfish is a Miata-based trackstar in the making [w/videos]

We're not trying to make a joke here. The creation you see above really is called the Bauer Catfish, and while the name is about as attractive as your average bottom feeder, the car itself is built on a sexy notion. Take the mechanical bits of one 1990-2005 Mazda MX-5 Miata, add in a tube chassis for as little weight as possible, complete with some custom body work and go forth. Bauer says the finished product weighs in at just 1,550 pounds, and the company will be happy to pull the stock four-cylinder to drop in a healthy General Motors LS V8.
The pre-production prototype shown above competed in last year's 25 Hours of Thunderhill, finished the race and earned a spot on the podium in the "anything goes for sports racers" ESR class. Very cool.
If you're looking for a dedicated track car, it may not get any better than this for the money. Expect to pay around $13,900 depending on options, plus the cost of your donor Miata. The 2014 North American International Auto Show is right around the corner, which means it's high time we found out which cars and trucks would be finalists for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.
