1995 Mazda Rx-7 Base Coupe 2-door 1.3l on 2040-cars
Billings, Montana, United States
Hey! Up for sale is what most consider to be one of the few real sports cars. This 1995 Mazda Rx7 is a true example, with only minor improvements made. 66,4xx miles. As a silver 95 base, it is one of six imported in 1995 with those options (see photos for import numbers) and 1 of a mere 500 total imported 95 Rx7’s. Pair that with a VIN ending in 529, and you may very well be looking at the last FD brought to the US. Extremely rare, and in incredible condition. The interior shows little to no wear. A couple minor blemishes, such as the power mirror control having a loose mounting tab, and the stock shift knob showing wear for an almost 20 year old car. The previous owner also installed keyless entry, which was a custom job due to there not being a motor in the door to do so. One was added, and is nice to have! The driver’s floor mat had seen better days, I just haven’t sourced a new one yet. Currently there is a SakeBomb Garage footrest in the passenger side. This is a design piece that came from the newer Rx7’s in Japan. It is easily removable, and may be removed and sold separately depending on final price. Controlling this car currently is an Apexi Power FC with controller. There’s not too many great options for mounting the controller, so as you can see in pictures, it props up nicely in the coin holder. This gives you the ability to monitor and tune on the fly, and lets you keep an eye on up to 8 aspects of the motor. This is also an easy removal, and again, depending on price may be switched back to the stock computer. The original owner’s manual, and all paperwork are intact and accounted for. The stock amp died in the head unit, so I did a thorough Kenwood upgrade. Head unit, followed by speakers front and rear. Total for the system was over 1k. Come to find out, the speakers had already been replaced by a previous owner, but with the head unit bad, I had no idea, and continued with my install. Could use a subwoofer at some point, but really, this is a sports car, not a concert hall. Sound deadener would be a huge improvement, but I drive more with the radio off, and the incredible symphony of the motor more than music playing. The exterior has brand new paint, literally completed on 9/19/13. The paint was neglected, and in need of a refresh. It is glass smooth, and has an intense mirror finish. As you can see from the pictures, the fit and finish of every single panel is second to none. The gaps, and alignment are absolutely spot on. When the car was in the body shop, I opted for tail lights from a 2001 rx7 straight from Japan, giving it a much more modern appearance, as well as APR carbon fiber mirrors. All bulbs on the exterior have been upgraded to high end LED bulbs, as well as the interior dome and rear hatch light. I modified the stock turn signal relay to accept LED lighting to remove the hyper flash that is common with lower wattage led lighting. Headlights have also been upgraded. All the corner lights as well as the front turn signals are tinted. I did not, however, tint the stock reflectors, I still have them. I just bought an aftermarket set to tint. The wheels are stock, but have essentially brand new bridgstone potenzas. The previous owner had about 800 miles on them, and I have about a 1000 miles total since I bought the car. The engine is relatively stock. No crazy porting, no running issues whatsoever. It also has a fresh tune up, including spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, and an oil change. Essential parts of owning a rotary. Also, a carbon fiber cooling panel was just added yesterday actually (9/20) to aid in air flow, and improve under hood appearance. The panel is a very simple piece that essentially just sets in place. The stock part is available. The exhaust was upgraded by a previous owner to a Blitz Nur Spec system. In my opinion, it sounds amazing. Not whiny or irritating, but deep and aggressive for a rotary. This is a car you literally can walk out to anytime, and it starts right up, no smoke, no hesitation. The suspension has been upgraded by Stance brand coil-overs, custom valved by Rishie at AutoRnD.com. With a many features to give an extremely smooth ride, yet aggressive cornering, this is the best suspension I’ve ever ridden with. The car underwent a full alignment after install, and there is at the most 700 miles on the system. I also added Greddy front and rear strut tower bars, giving increased stability and chassis rigidity. They are sharp, but could use a good polishing/powdercoating. Extras included in the car if the price is right: a full size binder style factory service manual specific to the 95. Also have a small “travel” size service manual. I have the stock radiator cover, as well as the corner lights. The service manuals may or may not be sold separately, if interested parties step forward, but the car parts will remain with the car. Payment is due within 7 days. A $1000.00 dollar deposit is required within 24 hours of the end of the auction, unless other arrangements are made. I am minutes from the local airport, Billings Logan International (BIL), and can pick you up if you decide to fly in and road trip home. Can also help in coordinating shipping, just let me know where to get the car and cover gas to the shipping dock. I do have the title in hand, just have to get a sign off from the local credit union when the note is paid. A few minute deal. |

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club Edition sharpens, styles the new roadster
Thu, Apr 2 2015One could argue that any iteration of the last-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata was worth having. But were it our money on the line, we'd have likely driven home with the Club, a simple trim that, for a reasonable $28,665 (for the retractable hardtop model), added a number of performance and aesthetic features. The 2016 MX-5 Miata Club Edition should prove to be a successful followup. Like last year's model, it adds a limited-slip differential, a retuned suspension with Bilstein shocks and a tower brace under the hood. On the aesthetic side of the game, 17-inch gunmetal wheels are included, along with a new rear spoiler and a front splitter. For those that demand an even sharper Club Edition, though, Mazda will also offer even lighter wheels, courtesy of BBS, along with Brembo brakes and the aero kit from the MX-5 Global Cup racer. Check out our full original post on the MX-5 Miata Club Edition, as well as a complete gallery of live images from the 2015 New York International Auto Show. Lighter, smaller, quicker and more nimble than its predecessor, MX-5 has adopted Mazda's full suite of SKYACTIV Technology and KODO-Soul of Motion design. In the process, MX-5 has shed approximately 150 pounds from its predecessor, with a curb weight of 2,332 lbs. when equipped with SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission (2,381 lbs. with the six-speed automatic transmission). The MX-5 Club heightens performance with trim-level exclusive: - 17-inch gunmetal alloy wheels wrapped in 205/45R17 tires - Limited-slip differential when equipped with SKYACTIV-MT - Bilstein shocks when equipped with SKYACTIV-MT - Shock tower brace when equipped with SKYACTIV-MT - Front air dam and rear lip spoilers Standard equipment on MX-5 Club models includes MAZDA CONNECTTM infotainment system with a seven-inch color touchscreen display and multi-function commander control, HD and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, two USB ports, piano black side mirrors and seatback bars and a nine-speaker Bose audio system with headrest speakers.
Kiwi seniors accidentally lock themselves in Mazda3 for 13 hours, nearly die
Wed, Dec 17 2014It's an over-played trope that senior citizens are bad with technology. Its regular use as a comedic device, though, overshadows a more dire circumstance that comes when elderly citizens are paired with gizmos and gadgets they don't fully understand. A couple from New Zealand spent the night in their new, smart-key-equipped Mazda3 after thinking they'd locked themselves in, in what The Otago Daily Times called "a series of 'Murphy's Law' events." The two thought the car wouldn't function without the key fob, which had accidentally been left outside of the car, along with the owner's manual. That, along with the combination of stress, darkness and a lack of overall information about the car nearly killed Mollieanne and Brian Smith. After thinking they'd become trapped, the Smiths, 65 and 68, respectively, tried honking the horn to alert neighbors – it was Guy Fawkes Night, so the sound was drowned out by fireworks – and even took the Mazda's jack to a window in their attempt to escape. When they were discovered and freed 13 hours later, Mrs. Smith was unconscious and Mr. Smith was having trouble breathing, with emergency crews telling the couple another half hour in the car would have killed them. Mr. Smith later told The Otago Daily Times he was "very methodical," but couldn't figure out how to unlock the car. "Once I found out how simple it was to unlock it I kicked myself that I did not find the way out," the 68-year-old told The Times. "I had this mind-set that I did not have the transponder [so I could not get out]." Mazda New Zealand pointed out that is not the case. "It's not a design flaw with the car," Mazda New Zealand General Manager Glenn Harris told The Times. "What we have said to the [dealership] network is, with new technologies, don't forget to show customers how to use them in their entirety [and] how to override them. There is always a manual process to override them." 2014 Mazda6 recalled due to fuel overfill fire risk
Fri, 02 May 2014Mazda is recalling 19,000 Mazda6 sedans from model year 2014, over concerns that the fuel tanks can be filled up too much. What is it with Mazda and fuel tanks?
The big concern is, obviously, spillage when filling up. There's also a risk that a radical temperature swing could cause the fuel volume to expand, causing a full tank to spill over without the driver knowing about it. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, if the fuel spills over, it could end up in something called the charcoal canister, which helps with the car's emissions. If it fills up the canister, it could leak out onto the road. None of this is really desirable.
The affected vehicles were all built between October 25, 2012 and May 9, 2013. It's unclear if there have been any fires due to this problem. Dealers should have been notified by now, while owners should begin receiving official recall notifications very soon.
