1985 Mazda Rx7 Gsl-se 1.3l on 2040-cars
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, United States
This 1985 RX-7 is a blast. Because it is the GSL-SE, it has the more powerful fuel injected 13B motor. The motor is in very good shape, as are the transmission and clutch. The front pitman arm, clutch master cylinder, port auxiliary valves, and fuel pump have all been replaced. The injectors and the tank have both been cleaned because I bought the car after it had sat for about 4 years. This car also has the nicer GSL-SE wheels. The current tires are Federal Super Steel 635s with a lot of rubber left, they work well for this car and grip the road nicely. The car has a few issues that have come with age, but nothing major. The radio shorts out but could be replaced if someone knew what they were doing. The passenger seat has a stain of some sort, I don't know what it is. The hydraulic cylinder for the back hatch is not operational but could be replaced. Certain areas of the paint have been damaged from years of sun, as have the exterior plastics. Areas of the door seals and a few pieces of interior plastic are also breaking away. The rest of the interior is pretty good and the carpet is clean. All the dials work perfectly. The air con and heat almost work too well for such a small compartment. All of the glass is free of cracks or scratches, as is the paint. The sunroof works well and can be quickly removed for some open air. There is also a window that can be put in the place of the solid sunroof. The power windows, cruise control, and pop-up headlights work. Having worked on this car, I can say that it is pretty clean and tight. When driving up a nearby mountain road, this car grips the road and goes wherever you want. I'm only selling it because i need something of a more practical size that is more suited to Idaho weather. If you want a classic drivers car, and are ready to take care of it, look no further. Please pay deposit through PayPal. Cashier's Check or Cash in person. Transport it however you like.

Xcar tries to figure out what makes the Miata so great
Tue, 12 Aug 2014Over the past 25 years and 3 model generations, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has shown that you don't have to be the best to be a massive success. The little, Japanese roadster has never been the absolute peak of automotive performance, but it's precise handling, good reliability and frugal running costs have helped make it a star. Autoblog recently tried to give you the experience of driving one on video, and now Xcar Films has made its own in an attempt to show what makes this droptop an icon.
As Xcar puts it, the Miata isn't the world's best sports car, but it is the world's favorite. When they were originally designing the roadster, Mazda's engineers took everything that made British droptops from the '60s great, and junked all of the stuff that made them a terror to own. The result was a car that would start up everyday with no fuss and get drivers wherever they needed to go with a huge grin on their face.
The fourth-generation Miata is imminently on the way for its September 3 unveiling, and the very early rumors indicate that Mazda doesn't plan to rock the boat too much with the latest one. It supposedly rides on a longer wheelbase and wider track but with the weight trimmed by over 200 pounds. Check out Xcar's video for a primer on MX-5 history and why the automotive world loves this little roadster.

Mazda mulling furniture, designer goods in bid to command higher prices
Wed, 01 Oct 2014Brands like Porsche and Ferrari make a mint every year by selling branded lifestyle goods like shoes, hats and even wilder items. Bugatti takes things to the extremes with things like its $84,000 belt buckle. These products not only make their respective companies some extra money, but they reaffirm their high-end design aspirations to wealthy buyers. However, the next firm possibly dipping its toe into this upscale pool is a bit more mass-market - Mazda.
That's right. The Japanese automaker best known among enthusiasts for its segment-defining Miata and rotary engines is considering its own line of luxury goods in the coming years called Mazda Design. The project is the brainchild of styling boss Ikuo Maeda, and according to Automotive News, he has backing from company CEO Masamichi Kogai. Although the green light isn't quite on yet, Maeda is already brainstorming. "Not only furniture, but I'd like to build a Mazda Design brand. That's my dream," he said to Automotive News.
The possible project is just one aspect of Mazda's move to become a near-premium brand. According to Automotive News, it wants to see higher transaction prices partially by offering more stylish design than its rivals. Launching a line of luxury goods is meant to communicate this new focus to customers.
