Only 67k original miles!

This car is in great shape. I’ve never seen a cleaner interior on a car this age. No rust, engine pulls strong all the way to redline, it’s a true survivor.

I am the 3rd owner. My girlfriend (2nd owner) purchased it from the original owner in May of 2011 with 42k miles. Title transferred to me in October of 2012. I have been using it as a daily driver since, and have used that experience to fix/repair/correct everything that could go wrong on a car of this age.

I have the original paperwork from the sale to the original owner in 1985, as well as the original warranty paperwork (remember when there was a separate warranty for rust-proofing and cruise control?).

When purchased from original owner in 2011, the seller disclosed the following work that had been done to the car:

-Catless exhaust (Mazda)

-Rat-Nest removal

-Air pump removal

-Repainted in 1995 (due to fading)

After purchase, we performed the following:

-Brake master cylinder rebuild

-Sport springs from ReSpeed

-New OEM brass radiator

-New Fuel Pump

In the last 6 months, I have had the following done at the Mazda Dealer. All parts are OEM:

-New (less than 1k miles) Toyo Proxes

-Pioneer entertainment system (CD, DVD, Bluetooth, etc)

-Alternator

-Water Pump

-Starter

-Pulleys (racing) and belts

-Distributer Cap

- Spark Plugs and Wires

-Window Regulator

-Wipers

-Tie Rods

- Ball Joints

-Control Arms

-Sway Bar links

-All steering bushings

-AC Re-charge

-Alignment

-Oil Cooler O-Ring

Some of the pictures are newer than others. The most recent have: Toyo Proxes tires and new radio.

As you can see, I’ve put about $4,500 into it in the past 3 months to get it where it is now. And where it is now is awesome. If I were to keep it, I would likely finish off with fixing the few minor things that remain, which are:

-Repaint the SS trim, as it’s starting to chip/fade. Common to all RX-7 FBs, as they painted over Stainless Steel…..

-Slight play in steering wheel. Again, common with FBs. I’d likely do a rack-pinion conversion if I were to keep it.

-Re-Stretch the vinyl on the door panels. It’s not all that bad, but since the rest of the interior is in like-new condition, it sticks out to me (I’m picky).

-Gas gauge: It works, but it registers 1/4 tank low. So when you fill the tank it shows 3/4 of a tank, and when it shows empty you’ve really got 1/4 tank left. Never really cared enough to fix that.

This car is not perfect, but it is very nice. There are a few minor scratches (mainly on the rear by the hatch latch from putting stuff in and out) as well as a rock chip or two and some barely noticeable tiny dings. Minimal, but I like to disclose these things. Absolutely NO RUST.  And did I mention it drives great? Oil pressure is good, never even comes close to overheating, great engine response.

I’ve had many cars in my life (BMWs, Corvettes, Porsches, etc) and never been complimented as much as when I drive this RX-7. It really is a looker, and a great car.

Sale will include Mazda RX-7 car cover, as well as the original rubber pieces for the side and rear of the car (personally I think it looks better without them). Original Floor Mats in great shape, as well as aftermarket rubber floor mats. I’ll also throw in whatever extra bits I have laying around (spark plugs, Service Manual, etc)

I welcome in-person inspections. I can also refer you to the service manager at Mazda that has performed all recent service.

Clear title, no liens. Prefer local pickup, but can assist with shipping (at buyer’s expense) if needed. Any questions, just ask!

Mazda to celebrate 25 years of MX-5 with 15 Miatas in New York

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

Having first debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in 1989, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has been on the market now for an impressive 25 years. So to celebrate that quarter-century anniversary, Mazda is bringing no less than 15 examples of the legendary roadster from throughout its history to the New York Auto Show this year.
Mazda isn't saying just which versions of the MX-5 it's bringing to the Javitz center this year, but with three generations to choose from and over 900,000 units built and sold, there are plenty of examples - including production versions, special editions and concept cars.
What would really put the cherry on this birthday cake, however, would be if Mazda were to surprise us in Manhattan with the debut of the highly anticipated fourth-generation Miata that we're expecting to debut sometime this year.

Las Vegas reporter makes literal street food

Tue, Jun 21 2016

A reporter in the American Southwest did a test to see just how hot it was this week, and received her just deserts. With a promised high of 115 degrees in the Las Vegas Valley on June 20, Caitlin Lilly and Kira Terry of the Las Vegas Review-Journal decided to find out if they could bake cookies and cook breakfast using just the ambient heat of the day and some handy flat surfaces. First, the pair attempted to bake a couple dozen pre-mixed cookies on the dashboard of a Mazda. Starting around 1:00 pm, they left the cookies on a sheet tray propped up beneath the car's un-tinted windows. By 5:00 pm the cookies were done and, according to various R-J staffers, quite delicious. While the cookies were baking, they decided to make themselves something a little more substantial, something to justify the desert they had baking in the Mazda. They found a nice patch of parking lot and tried to fry an egg, some bacon, and a handful of shrimp. The shrimp cooked quickly, as shrimp are wont to do, but after 20 minutes the bacon only browned at the edges while staying raw in the middle. The egg remained uncooked, unfortunately, since even the hottest asphalt isn't hot enough to actually fry an egg. Record high temperatures are baking the American Southwest and Southern California as the region suffers the effects of a weather phenomenon called a " heat dome." Highs of over 100 degrees were reported throughout SoCal, Arizona, and Nevada, which is surprising for mid-June. The threat of wildfires is already astronomical, and people are suffering from heat-related illnesses. Recent Video:

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata reveal livestream is here and now

Wed, 03 Sep 2014

Let's not understate the significance and difficulty of what's been accomplished here. In this ever-connected, constantly surveilled modern auto industry, Mazda has pulled a coup - it's kept a new vehicle under wraps. Yes, we've seen hacked up and camouflaged mules and maybe a form under a sheet, but Mazda is about to reveal its next-generation MX-5 Miata, and the car - let alone its specifications - hasn't been leaked anywhere yet. Not via clandestine camera phone snapshot, not by patent drawing, not by leaked ad copy, not even by diecast model. Believe us, we've looked.
And this isn't just some humdrum crossover or workaday compact, it's the Miata, the world's most popular roadster, apple of the enthusiast community's eye and seeming center of gravity for the Japanese automaker. For those who are genuinely excited about cars - about motoring - this is an impressive feat. If anything, Mazda's radio silence regarding the fourth-generation ND Miata has only served to heighten our anticipation for a model that probably won't reach showrooms for another year.
So, what's true and what's false among all the rumors? Will the already lightweight Miata really shed hundreds of pounds? What exactly will live under hood and drive those rear wheels?
