Here is my 1979 Mazda RX-7.  This is a collectors car since it was the first year it was made.  The value will only go up over the years.  It has the 12A Rotary Engine and 5 speed transmission.  It was built buy an old racer guy a few years ago to race in a local rally car event but he never raced it.  It has a roll cage in it and it sounds really mean.

Here are all the modifications that have been done to it. If you don't know what they are please google them and they'll come right up.
-Upgraded to the 1985 5 speed transmission
-Nikki Carburetor stripped (all the solenoids and diaphragms removed)
-Upgraded Intake manifold ported and polished
-Upgraded to the 1985 distributor with CDI electronic ignition (eliminated the points setup)
-2.5" Custom Exhaust from motor to tail pipe. It's pretty loud and raspy
-6 point roll cage
-OMP Eliminated (which means you have to PREMIX GAS but it's safer and better and not a lot 100:1)
-Rat's Nest Removed
-Fuel Regulator
-Rally Lights
-Hood Pins
-Fire Extinguisher

Other things that have been done recently:
-Fresh Oil
-Fresh Coolant
-New Spark Plugs
-New Cap and Rotor
-New Spark Plug Wires
-New Battery
-New Alternator
-New Fuel Filter

It has more power than stock and sounds really mean because of the modifications. The only draw back to the mods is that it's a little hard to start when it's cold out but after its running for a minute it purrs and runs perfect. It shifts through all 5 gears and reverse great, the clutch feels great with lots of grab. Everything works including the pop up headlights, hatch release, rear defrost, windows, signals, horn, lights, It has a pop-up moon roof that is removable too. This is a quick, light, nimble fun little car to drive.

The interior is in very good shape. There's one rip in the driver seat and that's it. The body is in good shape too. It has a couple small bumps and bruises but nothing major. All the glass is in good shape. It's very nice and clean for it's age. I don't see any rust anywhere.  If you want me to take pictures of a particular area please email me.

It has 53K miles on the speedo and I'm told those are original miles.

Mazda just restored the 787B's forgotten older brother

Fri, Aug 12 2016

Among Mazda's many racecars, none is as famous as the 787B, and for good reason. The 787B remains the only Japanese car and the only rotary-powered car to win overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It wasn't Mazda's only successful endurance racer, though. Before the 787B, there was the 767B. Mazda's 767B racecars competed in the IMSA GTP class at endurance races throughout 1989. They featured 630-horsepower four-rotor engines and were very successful in their class. This newly restored car took first and second place class finishes in five of the six races it participated in, and each finish was in the overall top ten. The one exception was a DNF in which the transmission failed. Twenty-five years after the 767B's glory days, Mazda initiated a complete teardown and restoration of the aged car. The work was done by Downing Atlanta and supervised by former Mazda racers Rick Engman and Jim Downing. (Fun fact: Downing was one of the designers of the HANS device.) The shop has also restored other racecars for Mazda, including one of the 787Bs. The car went through a two-year rehab and will make its track re-debut at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion. The event takes place next weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca where the track will once again feature the angry shriek of a competition-grade rotary engine. Mazda RX-Vision Concept revives the rotary

Wed, Oct 28 2015

Mazda continues fighting to keep the rotary alive, and with the RX-Vision concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the company unveils its dream for the engine's revival in a curvaceous sports coupe. Before any fans burst with excitement at the prospect, Mazda only "hopes" to have this gorgeous shape available in showrooms someday, for now. The RX-Vision starts with the classic elements of a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe by combining a long, low hood, short rear deck, and a passenger compartment way at the back. From there, Mazda's stylists add the swooping touches of the brand's Kodo design language. The result looks thoroughly modern and still subtly evokes generations of the RX-7 in the sculpted fenders and flowing roofline. Under that shapely hood hides Mazda's next-generation rotary, which the company has dubbed the Skyactiv-R. Unfortunately, details about it are quite scarce at the moment, including the displacement or even the number of rotors the engine uses. Still, Mazda is abundantly clear that development of the mill is very much moving forward. Mazda's designers opt for a retro flair inside with the deeply dished steering wheel and gauges in three pods. The rest is simple and elegant with a minimalist, metal gearshift rising from the center console and leather straps for door pulls. Finishing things off is a clean mix of red and black upholstery with a little carbon fiber for contrast. Expect live shots from Tokyo soon to show how the RX-Vision looks under the lights. Related Video: Mazda Reveals Mazda RX-VISION Concept -- Powered by next-generation rotary engine SKYACTIV-R, represents Mazda's vision of the future -- HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation unveiled the rotary-powered Mazda RX-VISION sports car concept at the Tokyo Motor Show*1 today. The rotary engine is a symbol of the company's "never-stop-challenging" spirit. RX-VISION represents a vision of the future that Mazda hopes to one day make into reality; a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car with exquisite, KODO design-based proportions only Mazda could envision, and powered by the next-generation SKYACTIV-R rotary engine. Rotary engines feature a unique construction, generating power through the rotational motion of a triangular rotor. Overcoming numerous technical difficulties, Mazda succeeded in commercializing the rotary engine, fitting it in the Cosmo Sport (known as Mazda 110S overseas) in 1967.

Mazda2 sedan debuting in Thailand this month?

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Mazda is reportedly set to introduce a Mazda2 with a four-door sedan body. Unlike the upcoming CX-3, which is debuting at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show and is almost certain to be sold in North America, this other version's chance here are a bit more mysterious.
According to The Bangkok Post, the Mazda2 sedan will make its word debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo on November 28, and the traditional five-door hatch will be there as well. Both body styles will be built in Thailand with diesel engines and will be the first vehicles to adhere to the country's eco-car rules for oil-burners with a SkyActiv 1.5-liter diesel that will make 105 horsepower.
At this time, there's no indication whether the new sedan might also be sold in the US, but we're not holding our breath - remember, the previous Mazda2 sedan never made it Stateside, either.
