You're bidding on a lightly driven 2002 Mazda Protege 5 with Mica Black paint and a black leather interior.

Yes, you read that correctly, this car only has 31,665 miles.

I bought this car in 2002 and my work schedule resulted in the car being mostly driven only on weekends.

This car comes with pretty much all the possible options:  leather seats, powered moonroof, 4-speed auto "sport-mode" transmission, ABS and side airbags.  It also comes with a Mazda original car cover and the rims have wheel locks.

The engine runs smoothly and the ride is tight.  It's a fun car to drive and gets good gas mileage. I'm sad to let it go but at this point it costs me more to park it in the city for a year than it does to sell it.

The paint is in good shape and the car has always had a solid waxing.

The interior is in excellent condition. All carpets and leather seats are in really great shape. The passenger and rear seat floor mats are pristine. I just didn't drive it enough to wear out the passenger or back seats.

The trunk has always been protected by a Mazda trunk liner and is pristine.

I installed a Pioneer AVIC-D3 Navigation System in the car along with a Pioneer Bluetooth module.  The maps come on two DVDs and are the latest available. It is an awesome system and integrates tightly with Apple devices (via a 30-pin cable) or any other device via Bluetooth.  I also installed a high quality Nokia MP-2 external microphone on the driver-side door pillar.  Hands-free conversations work really well with this mic.  The system also supports DVD video playback.

The car received four new tires, spark plugs, transmission fluid, brake fluid and an A/C recharge at ~26,700 before a cross-country drive.  The tires are in great shape and have plenty of tread.  The A/C blows cold.  I just replaced the front windshield wipers this week.

Parts I've replaced over the years: an alternator, a couple batteries, tires, rotors, pads, header pipe and an EGR valve.  All paperwork has been kept. Oil has been changed religiously and by calendar and not by mileage.

I uninstalled the roof rack a couple years ago.  All parts were kept and it can be easily reattached.

I've included plenty of pics. The car was parked on the street in its early years and received its obligatory bumper scratches from parallel parking.  Since then the car has been garaged in Seattle for the last few years.  Therefore the only wear and tear to be aware of is the bumpers being scratched up from typical east coast parallel parking.  There are also some fine scratches on the lip of the front hood, above the left wheel well and on the gas door.  There are two tiny dents on the left side as well.  On the driver side door pillar there is some small bubbling and the foam piping is worn.  The last five pics show these blemishes.

I hope this car finds a good home!

Good luck bidding.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Mercury Capri

Mon, Sep 19 2016

Ford has gotten a lot of use out of the Capri name in the United States. First, there was the Lincoln Capri in the 1950s, followed by the Ford Capri Mk1 (which was sold by Mercury dealers in the USA but never actually badged as a Mercury). Then came the 1979-1986 Mercury Capri, built on the very successful Fox Platform and essentially a clone of the Mustang. Finally, in 1991, the Australian Ford Capri came to the United States. Here is an example of this rare car that I spotted in a Northern California self-service yard not long ago. Mechanically speaking, the 1991-1994 Capri was a Mazda 323 under the skin, complete with a member of the same B-series engine family that went into such cars as the Miata and Ford Escort. So, for a few years in the early 1990s, car shoppers who wanted a sporty Mazda convertible could choose between a Miata and a Capri. The Capri had front-wheel-drive, but could be had with factory turbocharging. These cars were reliable and fun, but had a tough time competing with the Miata in the showroom battles. You'll see the occasional example now and then, but most of the 1991-1994 Capris have met the same fate that awaits this one. Related Video:

2014 Mazda6 gets up to 38 mpg, priced from $20,880*

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

The 2014 Mazda6 starts at $20,880 - *excluding a $795 destination fee - and will offer buyers up to 37 mpg highway in base form. That money will fetch buyers a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired to a six-speed manual - a setup packing 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. The Skyactiv powertrain is good, Mazda says, for 25 miles per gallon in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. Stepping up to the six-speed automatic gearbox will yield an additional 1 mpg in city and highway driving for up to 38 mpg highway. Despite offering more equipment, the base 2014 model carries a modest $155 price increase over its 2013 predecessor.
Available trims include i Sport starting at $22,495 and i Touring at $24,495 (*both excluding destination charges). The latter swaps the standard car's 17-inch wheels for 19-inch rollers and includes dual-zone automatic climate control and leatherette sport seats among other niceties. Buyers can snap up a tech package that includes TomTom navigation and an 11-speaker Bose Centerpoint sound system for $2,000. Keyless entry, rain-sensing wipers and the company's Smart City Brake Support are all part of that kit as well. Check out the full press release below for more information, and look for more details on the diesel-powered 2014 Mazda6 as we get closer to that vehicle's launch.

25th Anniversary Edition Mazda MX-5 Miata sells out in 10 minutes

Wed, 21 May 2014

Looking to buy one of the limited-edition 25th Anniversary Mazda MX-5 Miata roadsters? Well, you're too late. According to Mazda, all 100 examples of the darling two-seater have sold out - and it only took 10 minutes.
On Tuesday, Mazda opened its pre-order site for the limited-run Miata, and had intended to keep the site running until May 31, or until 250 customers were registered, whichever came first. Just 10 minutes later, 250 people had signed up. Now, Mazda will contact those folks, and the first 100 that are verified will be given the opportunity to pre-order the unique MX-5. "Upon verification of purchase intent and transmission selection, the customer's information will then be forwarded to the dealership of their choosing to finalize the transaction," Mazda said in a press release.
The 2015 MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition models will arrive at dealers this summer, retailing for $32,205 with the six-speed manual, or $32,655 for those desiring the automatic transmission. Based on the PRHT (Power Retractable Hard Top) model, the limited-edition Miata adds Bilstein shocks, a Soul Red metallic paint job (the same found on the gorgeous Mazda6) with a contrasting black roof, gunmetal wheels and an off-white leather interior. Special badging will be found inside the car, and buyers will also be treated to a custom-crafted Tourneau watch and a display winder box.
