Routine maintenance done meticulously, there are virtually no noticeable dings or scratches."

Near perfect condition.  This car was garaged for nearly all of it's life.  It has been driven very little over it's 14 years.  Most people who ask me about it assume it's brand new.  Paint is almost flawless, rims spotless w/out any scratches.

Interior is stock, features the 10th Anniversary Edition carbon fiber inlay.  The blue and black 2-tone leather/alcantara upholstery is extremely comfortable in sunny weather and offers great support around the curves.  There are no tears or rips on any of the upholstery.  The 6-speed manual transmission is a short-throw style and super fun around town.  The ride is firm, but shows no wear, rattle/shake or deterioration. The soft top is in great condition, and has only been used during the warm weather, as this car comes with a removable hard top for the winter.

The hard top was one of many accessories that came with the car, and make it that much more sporty looking.  Along with the ground effects package, mud flaps and hard top, it really makes for an all-season car.  I personally think the car looks even better with the hard top on.  Both the soft top and hard top have a built-in defroster that work great during the winter.  All electronics and features work as designed, including CD player, tape player, air conditioning and power windows.  Also included are the official embroidered floor mats with minimum wear and tear.

Our family has really loved this car, but it's time for something  more practical.  The next owner is truly getting a meticulously maintained, very well cared for car.  The car needs nothing to continue to be a great every day driver.  I would suggest this car to anyone for a daily driver or a 2nd car.  I will include all of the maintenance records for the entire life of the car.

The original Car and Driver review summed up the Miata's sports-car attributes in a phrase- "essential zest"-and went on to say that "the Miata captures it better than anything else on the road."

Fiat 124 caught entirely undisguised

Mon, Sep 28 2015

Dear automakers, please continue making these kind of mistakes. Thanks to what we're guessing is some lax security, the all-new, Mazda MX-5 Miata-based Fiat 124 was spotted taking part in a photo shoot near Santa Barbara, CA. The images show what we'd consider a fairly simple rebadging job. The 124 gets new front and rear clips that not only harken back to the original 124 (not to mention other Fiat roadsters, like the Barchetta), but also serves to distance this droptop from the rest of the company's US range. The similarities between the 124 and the car it's based on are even more obvious in the cabin. This is an MX-5 interior with Fiat's big, red badge on the tiller. That means the same quality materials and knob-dial infotainment system that have been so well received in the Miata. It's under the hood, though, where the Fiat really differs from its Japanese cousin. According to our spy, the vehicle shown here features some kind of two-pedal setup – probably the six-speed Euro twin-clutch used in the 500L and Dodge Dart. Don't worry, though, a six-speed stick will also be on offer. Regardless of transmission, we can expect a 180-horsepower version of the 1.4-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder offered in the 500 Abarth. And if that's not enough good news, a dedicated Abarth model will likely arrive after launch, which our spies claim will use the 1.75-liter turbo and DCT from the Alfa Romeo 4C. While this represents a good look at the new 124, we'll probably be waiting until the LA Auto Show in November for the official look. Stay tuned.

Mazda and Clemson collaborate on Deep Orange 3 concept

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

There are school projects, and then there's the Mazda Deep Orange 3 Concept Car, a one-off built by Clemson University automotive engineering students and designed by Frederick Naaman from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Clemson students unveiled the chassis at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, although this is the first showing of the car fully clothed.
Sporting a unique hybrid powertrain that can automatically switch between front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive. A gas-powered engine handles the fronts, while the rears are powered by an electric motor and a battery pack. The Deep Orange 3 also has an unusual three-plus-three layout, making it a much cooler version of your parent's old Vista Cruiser. The exterior sheetmetal clearly follows Mazda's established design language, and looks like it could easily pass for a five-door version of the Shinari Concept. It really is a great looking vehicle.
The Deep Orange 3 was part of Clemson's graduate-level auto engineering program, and is a regular partnership between the east coast school and the Pasadena-based design college's students. Clemson, Art Center and Mazda will be showing the Deep Orange 3 at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, MI, from August 5 to August 8. Miata driver pulls off hilariously diabolical move in fender-to-fender racing

Wed, 27 Aug 2014

Racing is all about finding the little advantages over competitors that allow you to get ahead. Sometimes those are legitimate means - like being able to take advantage of a better line through a corner - and other times drivers get a little more creative for a leg up over opponents. Sometimes things might even go a little too far. Case in point: just watch the opening of this Mazda MX-5 Cup race from Silverstone in the UK.
According to the YouTube description, we're riding with James Rogers in this video, and he appears to be pretty talented behind the wheel. Rogers has a great start from fifth that has him in third within just a few corners. He starts stalking the top two drivers, who are already having a fantastic race themselves, but then we see that the person in second is clearly willing to do whatever it takes to win. Just watch the video, and you'll see what we mean. Bravo (?) to that racer for some very quick, albeit fiendish, thinking.
