Adult Driven And Maintained 10th Anniversary Edition #1063 No Reserve on 2040-cars
Platte City, Missouri, United States
I've just retired and need to match my out-go to my income. I've enjoyed immensely owning this great car. I purchased it from a friend who bought it new. (He had just bought a Corvette and his wife said either the Miata or the Harley had to leave. Great for me that he chose the Miata, since I had no interest in the Harley) I've enclosed a photo of the original window sticker showing the original list price of $28,775.00. (He actually paid more since this was the 1`st one sold in Kansas City). I've also included photos of the scratch the Harley made in the door, the wear on the seats (from where my belt rubbed getting in and out) and the scratches in the radio surround from where he had a mount for his XM receiver. The car has been well maintained and adult driven with all maintenance schedules met. It has had Mobile 1 and now Royal Purple oil in the engine from the very start. It is a true 10th Anniversary Edition vehicle: Medallion #1063 (Of 7500 world wide. 3750 in the US), Sapphire Blue Mica, Polished Alloy 15 inch wheels, special blue soft-top, Torsen limited-slip differential, Bilstein Shocks and sports suspension, 6-speed manual transmission, power assisted 4 wheel disc brakes, Power windows, locks, antenna, mirrors, 10th Anniversary blue floor mats, 2-tone blue/black sport bucket seats, steering wheel, & shift knob. (Note, shift knob has become loose on the shaft and spins, but does not come off), Stainless scuff plates, Bose Audio system w/AM/FM/CD stereo/clock and tweeters. NOTE - NOTE - NOTE - NOTE This car has been well maintained and adult driven HOWEVER!! It IS 15 years old. Therefore, there is NO warranty expressed or implied. It is being sold AS IS and WHERE IS. I wouldn't hesitate to set off cross-country in it, but can't make any kind of guarantee. You need to make a NON-REFUNDABLE $500 down payment via PayPal at the end of the auction with the balance due via Certified Check when you pick the car up. If you make arrangements for shipping, I will assist with delivery to the shipper with the balance of the payment due at that time.. Having said that, I will miss driving this fun, economical and reliable car. |

Takata airbag recall spreads to China with 42k Mazda sedans
Mon, 07 Jul 2014The scope of the problem with the faulty airbag inflators from Takata continues to broaden and is now reaching China, as well. Mazda is recalling 42,732 Mazda6 units there, produced by its local joint venture partner China FAW Car Company, to replace the front passenger airbags. It comes as part of Mazda's recall of nearly 160,000 vehicles worldwide, including about 34,600 in the US, according to Reuters.
This is the same problem that caused seven automakers in the US to recall an estimated 2.1 million vehicles in late June. The airbag inflators can potentially explode instead of deploying the airbag, which hampers the bag's inflation. In some cases occupants are also hit by the metal shrapnel, which can cause further injuries. In the US, Mazda is repairing the 2003-2007 Mazda6 (pictured above), 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6, 2004 MPV and 2004-2008 RX-8 originally sold in or currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.
This is hardly the first instance of this issue. Since 2001, there have been 20 recalls tied to the exploding airbags supplied by Takata. The problem is possibly linked to the propellant in the inflators, but there's no conclusive evidence of that yet. Most of the automakers in the US limited the most recent recalls only to a few humid states because moisture potentially exacerbated the problem.
Mazda6 diesel delayed until April
Fri, 13 Sep 2013Diesel enthusiasts waiting on the new Skyactiv-D-powered Mazda6 will have to wait a bit longer. The shapely fuel-efficient four-door has just had its North American launch pushed back to April, due to delays in emissions testing. Mazda had originally planned to launch the Mazda6 diesel before the end of this year, making the four- to five-month delay a rather serious one.
Mazda's senior vice president of US operations, Robert Davis, told Mazda employees in a letter obtained by Automotive News that, "final certification testing - the results of which are looking encouraging - is taking longer than we had initially expected." Following this letter, Mazda made an official announcement:
"The on-sale date for Mazda6 SKYACTIV-D clean-diesel has been moved to late-Spring 2014, to accommodate final emissions testing and certification. We are pleased with the ongoing development and are excited to launch this much-anticipated vehicle in North America. 2014 Mazda6 sales continue to exceed both our expectations and our production abilities, and supplies of the car are short at dealers across the U.S. More information on the SKYACTIV-D clean diesel Mazda6 will be available closer to the on-sale date."
Carmakers, NHTSA to unveil auto-emergency braking agreement tomorrow
Wed, Mar 16 2016Happy St. Patrick's Day Eve. Tomorrow, there will be green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and automatic emergency braking for all. Weird combo, we know. But on St. Patty's we can expect an official announcement from a pact of automakers making auto-braking systems standard equipment by 2022. That's per a report from Reuters, which cites three sources familiar with the plans. Originally announced in September 2015 by 10 automakers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the agreement is expected to be even larger when the details are unveiled tomorrow. According to Reuters, the manufacturers of 99 percent of the US domestic market's vehicles will be represented by the new agreement. It's believed that standard AEB systems could prevent thousands of accidents across the country. Expect more on the official announcement when it's made. Related Video:
