2006 LS3 NC Miata $49,995.00 USD

Up for sale is my 2006 NC Miata with the V8 Roadsters LS3 conversion. Chassis number 3 out of 11 built by Steve Leonard from V8 Roadsters who developed the LSX kits for all 3 generations of Miatas. The kit is now being sold by V8 Roadsters and Flyin Miata for $42,000 plus the car. I’ve had the car for a little over a year and have done a tremendous amount of work to it. I had purchased it from a guy down in GA who had Steve build it for him for track days and time trial events. He had the car after it was built for about 4 or 5 months and was building a new house and decided to sell it. When I got the car it had 3400 miles since the build, currently it has a little over 11,000. This car played a big role in the development of the kit and especially chassis components. I used the car for SCCA and other local autocross events and due to the forces of auto crossing on slicks we found the weak links in the rear sub frame and differential braces.

The kit basically consists of a brand new LS3 crate motor, tubular front sub frame, GM Performance ECU, all electrical wiring and wiring harness, brand new Tremec T56 6 speed transmission, aluminum driveshaft, custom rear axle, diff and sub frame bracing and Ford 8.8 rear with LSD.

This car has a lot more than that and I am the type of person who does things right the first time and I appreciate quality parts and workmanship. In life you get what you pay for. I am going to list everything that has been done to the car and where it was either purchased and/or installed. I am not listing prices for each part or modification because I don’t want to make myself sick.

The car is absolutely AWESOME. It has taken a bunch of FTD’s at local autocross events, and garners a ton of positive attention. Everywhere I go people come up to me and want to talk about the car. It looks mean as hell, sounds totally incredible and is a blast to drive. Also people always ask “how can that car hook up?” It’s a pretty silly question but that has to do with physics. The LS3 motor only weights 50 lbs more than the cast iron 2 liter motor that it came with. We have moved the battery to the trunk, and with the heavier rear diff the car still remains an almost perfect balance of 50.5% front and 49.5% rear. It’s basically a C6 Vette minus 800 lbs. Car weighs approx 2650-2700. Rolling stock are the R888’s for the street which are 100 tread wear super sticky tires. The only reason a car spins the rear tires are if the tires are being overwhelmed by weight. I own a 500 plus RWHP NA Miata that weighs 2100 lbs and it hooks perfect as well. I took the LS3 NC Miata out a couple weeks ago after not driving it for a couple months due to snow etc and I was literally giggling to myself and hooting and hollering like a cowboy… I always keep the car garaged and never drive it in rain, snow or salty roads. With that said it is also very smooth, it has a smooth ride than my 2012 Audi S4 if you could believe that. From a mechanical standpoint it is in tip top condition and it’s built so damn strong at this point that I highly doubt new owner will have any issues.

It is a 2006 so the paint isn’t perfect but still looks great. Its got a couple little scratches and dings. The car has AC but it is not connected at the moment but I have the V8 Roadsters AC connector part which will be included with sale. I believe car had about 130,000 miles on it prior to conversion. Essentially at this point there is nothing left of that car as the whole chassis is new, new shocks, springs, sub frames etc. So one can buy with confidence. And any serious buyer is welcome to have the car inspected and if they are local to come and drive the car.

This is by no means a fire sale or any type of act of desperation on my part. I’ve got 6 cars and wanted to take a stab racing in SCCA SOLO SSR Class in a new C7 Vette and wife already wants me dead, so 7 cars ain’t going to happen.

I am probably leaving a bunch of things out because so much work was done. All labor that has been done to this vehicle was all done by professionals. Anything that says V8 Roadsters on the list above was done before the car left their shop by Steve Leonard. Stable energies is a racing and safety shop in Garfield NJ and they installed the seats and belts. Automat is a custom interior shop in Hicksville NY and they did the dynomat, install of soft top and new carpet. Hell Bent Race cars is a full racing fabrication shop in Islandia NY, Mark the owner is one of the best TIG welders on the east coast. The rest of the work was done at Star Performance in Wading River NY, and Nick the owner has been working on Racecars for 30 years and he has built 3 cars with me in last 2 years. Here is a list of their contact numbers and I’m sure any one of them would be happy to verify the information above.

Next Mazda MX-5 Miata headed for 2015 Chicago debut

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

Twenty-six years after it was introduced at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, the much anticipated fourth generation Mazda MX-5 Miata will meet the press at the 2015 Chicago show. A piece in Autocar refines some of the details on the larger, lighter Miata that a Mazda insider has said will be "our best-looking car ever."
The company has relented on the quest for the metric tonne, the 1000-kilogram (2,200-pound) target too difficult to achieve in light of cost constraints. You can still expect it to lose a generous dollop of weight - Autocar says a curb weight of 1,100 kg (2,420 pounds) will still make it the lightest in its class. And Mazda will be stressing a fun driving experience through light weight and a modest amount of naturally-aspirated horsepower. Engine capacities of 1.5 and 2.0 liters are expected. Sounds familiar (and good), right?
The Miata's interpretation of Kodo design will be veer from that found on the Mazda3 and Mazda6, with "very clean and simple" lines marking out "more muscular proportions" and elongated bodywork on a longer wheelbase. A stretched engine bay will make room for the current Skyactiv engine and perhaps the future Skyactiv 2 powerplants, initial reports suggesting there could be a 30-percent increase in fuel economy from the moment it arrives.

Recharge Wrap-up: Renault-Nissan hits 250,000 EVs, will the next Toyota Prius be an SUV?

Sat, Jun 27 2015

Will the next Toyota Prius be an SUV? Mazda and Toyota recently reached an agreement to share powertrain technologies, which will help Mazda comply with California's tightening ZEV restrictions with a plug-in vehicle. On the flip side, Toyota will have access Mazda's Skyactiv diesel powertrain, which a source tells Motoring will be used in an SUV based on the Toyota Prius (and, as Hybrid Cars suggests, on the Toyota C-HR concept). Interestingly, the collaboration will also give Mazda access to Toyota's fuel cell technology, which could mean more hydrogen powered cars on the road and the subsequent expansion of hydrogen fueling infrastructure. Could it also make way for a long-awaited hydrogen powered rotary-engine sports car from Mazda? Read more at Motoring. Samsung SDI unveiled two new lithium-ion stationary batteries at Intersolar Europe. In doing so, Samsung throws its hat in the ring with the likes of automakers Tesla and Mercedes-Benz, using knowledge from electric vehicle batteries in the arena of home solar energy storage. In addition to its 3.6-kWh battery, its new 5.5-kWh and 8.0-kWh batteries offer storage solutions at a larger, more practical scale for solar customers. Called the All-in-One, the battery system, borrowed from electric vehicles, is made up of a photovoltaic inverter, battery PCS and lithium-ion battery, and promises efficiency, compactness, fast installation and an affordable price. Read more from Samsung SDI. The Renault-Nissan Alliance has sold its 250,000th electric vehicle. The quarter-millionth EV was a white Renault Zoe sold to a French computer engineer from Bordeaux named Yves Nivelle. While he credits a government program offering a ˆ10,000 rebate for EV buyers trading in an older diesel vehicle for helping him make the decision to pull the trigger on the new Zoe, "I have to say, I was convinced the first time I drove the car. It's a real pleasure to drive and it feels good to do my part for the environment," says Nivelle. The Alliance had sold around 31,600 EVs from January to May this year, up 15 percent from the first five months of 2014. See the video above, and read more in the press release below. Renault-Nissan Alliance sells its 250,000th electric vehicle • Historic EV milestone reached in early June • Alliance sells half of all EVs globally • EV sales up nearly 15 percent through May vs.

Mazda CX-3 crossover coming to LA

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

The Mazda booth at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show will showcase some new crossovers. In addition to the refreshed CX-5 that we're expecting, the Japanese automaker has announced plans to unveil its new CX-3 compact crossover.
According to Mazda, the brand's entry into the compact CUV market will feature "the full range of SKYACTIV technology and KODO - Soul of Motion design." We take that to mean lightweight chassis and body architectures along with fuel-sipping gasoline and, perhaps, diesel engines.
The CX-3 will have to take on a slew of upcoming competitors, including the Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Trax and Jeep Renegade, and reports indicate it will share a platform with the Mazda2, which is just starting production in Mexico. We don't yet know if it will be front-wheel drive only or if all-wheel drive will be optional. The CUV is also likely to share the Mazda2's engine, which isn't yet revealed for the North American market. Japan gets the 2 with either a 1.3-liter gasoline engine or a 1.5-liter diesel.
