Near showroom condition."

I am the original and so far the only owner of this 2002 Blazing Yellow Mica Special Edition Miata.  In the year that these were made this car was one of only 1000 produced.  The other special edition color that year was Titanium Gray of which there were 1500 produced.  So first of all this car was rare to start with.  I purchased it and drove it off the dealer's showroom floor for it's first trip (other than being put in there in the first place).  Since that day it has been protected by a garage throughout the year and a garage and a car cover through the off season.  It has only seen the rain fall once. That was the weatherman's fault, not mine.  It has never gone out in the spring before the salt is all off the road, and I put it up for the year way before the salt hits the road.  My intention when I purchased this car was to treat with the utmost love and care and have it later in my life as a collector car that I could take to car shows with me.  My health and therefore, my financial situation calls for me to rethink some of my priorities.  This gives some lucky person out there a chance to own a fantastic car that you can't just find out there every day.  Believe me, I look frequently just for fun.  (And I keep looking for a 2000 Evolution Orange Special Edition - also rare)

That being said, it is not what you might think is a great deal considering the cost.  But from the research I keep trying to do I think my pricing is fair.  And if you don't, obviously you won't be buying it yet.  I am including in the purchase the original window sticker that was on the car when it was new.  Also the extra set of keys.  The vehicle is equipped with an engine immobilizer if someone tries to take it without the keys.  It also has a perimeter shock sensor alarm.  I received a gift from Mazda after my purchase which was a leather duffel bag with "feet".  I have never used that and it still is in the original box it was shipped in.  See, I was really in this for the long haul as a collector's item.  I currently have the vehicle insured with Haggerty Insurance Co. for a replacement value of $20000.  I got that value with just a few pictures of the car.

I didn't really know what all to take for pictures so if you would like to see something specific just let me know.  Also, any questions let me know.  I have had the vehicle serviced at the dealership where I bought it since 2002.  The guys there enjoy seeing it come back every year looking like it did when it left.  The last of the pictures of the car shows the only damage that is on it.  The very first month I owned it I pulled a little to far into my garage and hit a planter.  I put touch up paint on the spots I made on the bumper.

As far as picking up the car or having it delivered to you, I have the flexibility to help you work on that if you need help. So, thanks for looking and feel free to contact me.

Mazda3, CX-5 earn IIHS Top Safety Picks

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

Mazda technologies like SkyActiv-Body and SkyActiv-Chassis, plus ultra-high-tensile steel, six airbags, "crusable" brake and accelerator pedal assembly and collapsible steering column have helped the 2013 Mazda3 and 2014 Mazda CX-5 win Top Safety Pick laurels from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It's the second year in a row for the Mazda3.
The accolade is earned by receiving "Good" marks for frontal moderate overlap crashes, side and rear impact crashes, and tests of roof strength. Remember, the small overlap test that the IIHS commenced in August 2012 has lately tripped up some makers who have excellent safety reputations.
The Mazda3 and CX-5 join offerings like the Dodge Dart, Hyundai Elantra, Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Subaru Forester among the 117 vehicles so far declared Top Safety Picks - which is different than the 13 named Top Safety Picks+, mind you - for this year. Have a read of the press release below for more information.

Import pickup truck-killing Chicken Tax to be repealed?

Tue, Jun 30 2015

After over 50 years, the so-called Chicken Tax may finally be going the way of the dodo. Two pending trade deals with countries in the Pacific Rim and Europe potentially could open the US auto market up to imported trucks, if the measures pass. Although, it still might be a while before you can own that Volkswagen Amarok or Toyota Hilux, if ever. The 25-percent import tariff that the Chicken Tax imposes on foreign trucks essentially makes the things all but impossible to sell one profitably in the US, which lends a distinct advantage to domestic pickups. Both the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 12 counties and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the European Union would finally end the charge. According to Automotive News though, don't expect new pickups to flood the market, at least not immediately. These deals might roll back the tariff gradually over time, and in the case of Japan, it could be as long as 25 years before fully free trade. Furthermore, Thailand, a major truck builder in Asia, isn't currently part of the deal, and any new models here would still need to meet safety and emissions rules, as well. Automotive News gauged the very early intentions of several automakers with foreign-built trucks, and they weren't necessarily champing at the bit to start imports. Toyota thinks the Hilux sits between the Tundra and Tacoma, and Mazda doesn't think the BT-50 fits its image here. Also, VW doesn't necessarily want to bring the Amarok over from Hannover. There is previous precedent for companies at least considering bringing in pickup trucks after the Chicken Tax's demise, though. The Pacific free trade deal could be done as soon as this fall, while the EU one is likely further out, according to Automotive News. Given enough time, the more accessible ports could allow some new trucks to enter the market.

25th Anniversary Edition Mazda MX-5 Miata sells out in 10 minutes

Wed, 21 May 2014

Looking to buy one of the limited-edition 25th Anniversary Mazda MX-5 Miata roadsters? Well, you're too late. According to Mazda, all 100 examples of the darling two-seater have sold out - and it only took 10 minutes.
On Tuesday, Mazda opened its pre-order site for the limited-run Miata, and had intended to keep the site running until May 31, or until 250 customers were registered, whichever came first. Just 10 minutes later, 250 people had signed up. Now, Mazda will contact those folks, and the first 100 that are verified will be given the opportunity to pre-order the unique MX-5. "Upon verification of purchase intent and transmission selection, the customer's information will then be forwarded to the dealership of their choosing to finalize the transaction," Mazda said in a press release.
The 2015 MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition models will arrive at dealers this summer, retailing for $32,205 with the six-speed manual, or $32,655 for those desiring the automatic transmission. Based on the PRHT (Power Retractable Hard Top) model, the limited-edition Miata adds Bilstein shocks, a Soul Red metallic paint job (the same found on the gorgeous Mazda6) with a contrasting black roof, gunmetal wheels and an off-white leather interior. Special badging will be found inside the car, and buyers will also be treated to a custom-crafted Tourneau watch and a display winder box.
